So far, so good for the most part at The Landing of O'Fallon. Of course, as with most facilities, we have to stay on top of staff re: my mom's individual needs (especially due to different staff throughout the day & night & limited communication between staff). Fortunately, my mom has frequent visits from family members & try to stay connected to the staff.
They have so many different activities offered to the residents - they have movie nights, manicure Mondays, poker and every other type of game you could think of. They have Wii bowling, corn hole, and happy hours during the week. They have different outings during the months, this month they go to the library and last month the residents went to the Butterfly House. They have bible studies and different church services. They have afternoon socials where the drink tea and have biscuits. They have exercise classes everyday, and once a week they bring in some type of entertainment. They have activities all weekend long which is one reason we decided to pick The Landing.
We went with The Landing of O'Fallon because of the community and the overall feel of it. It was more homey and smaller so we thought it was the best fit for her. They are very accommodating, we had to move her in during covid and they were most understanding in giving us more time. Whatever we couldn't do they would do it for us. I would definitely recommend to others looking.
I was very impressed with this community. It was similar to the community we went with , open, spacious lots of windows. Location was also a deciding factor for us and this community was just a bit to far away. This community had great follow up and ready to refer to other communities or tour again if needed.
The day staff here are incredible, we absolutely love them. They all are so lovely, attentive and helpful when we come to visit. Anytime we have issues we bring them up with the head nurse and she is amazing. However the night staff have some issues, we think they might be contracted out but they do not answer the residents buzzer in a timely manner and when they do answer they have an attitude.
I would recommend you take a look at the community to see if it is a good fit for your loved one. My loved ones have a nice apartment like setting for them that works. The staff and residents are friendly.
I really liked this community but they just could not provide the care that was needed for my loved one.
We chose The Landing because of the amount of activities that they had provided for the residents. The room sizes are adequate for what she needs. Overall it has been a good experience and I would recommend to others looking.
This is a really nice place. The residents are always busy, if they want to be. My loved one is content with their room size. The staff are easy to work with. My loved one enjoys the food on most days.
My loved one lived there for a month and got assaulted there. Another resident got in a fight with him, bit his hand had, and I had to take him to the Emergency Room. Which was not too pleasant. My loved one was in memory care, but it was evident right from the beginning that he was more comfortable when I was there and would take him up to assisted living. I asked the director to evaluate him again, and she refused to move him. I expressed my disagreement with her, and she was pretty bold with me about it. So I went to her boss, and he didn’t want to hear anything I had to say. My loved one had already been assaulted there, so I pulled him out of there.
They did a nice job with our tour. It was a nice facility, just not a good fit for our family. There was nothing bad or negative about them at all. Our family circumstances just took us in a different direction.
We're very happy with them so far. The staff has been very helpful. We had some little concerns about getting our loved one to agree to go there. Move-in day we thought was going to be horrible. And it wasn't fun, but they did everything they could do to help. They listened to our concerns, gave us their advice, and then sent us on our way with assurance that they could handle it from there. And it was the right thing to do and the right way to handle it. She's in the memory care side, and pretty much every time we come, she's outside of her room participating in activities, listening to music, watching movies. They have a Facebook page where we see photos of her doing activities. And that's exactly what we wanted for her, to not just be sitting in her room.
We toured this community and it was very nice. Unfortunately, the location just didn't fit our family's needs.
Overall the community has been very good. Communication is pretty good and they return calls in a timely manner. There was a small issue with billing but that worked with no issue. I would recommend this community to others
Our loved one did say sometimes the food was really good and other times not so much. She really did enjoying participating in the rosary and receiving communion before they had to shut everything down due to covid.
