We are happy with this facility. The staff is great. They're always friendly and helpful. The facility is clean. They offer a great variety of interactive activities. The food is good, but more options would be great. Communication with the family is excellent. I would recommend them to friends and family.

Our family had an in person tour and we were really excited about Glenn Hopkins because they are a catholic community and our loved one could go to mass there, however due to our loved one being blind and in a wheelchair he would need assistance being wheeled down to mass and that was an extra fee - laundry was an extra fee, if you wanted your meals brought to you it was an extra fee. So we were disappointed that it was nickel and dime what seemed like to be everything,
I was happily surprised at how friendly all the staff and residents are. Everyone seems happy there. They have many activities going on and always something to do if you want. It is a very nice place. Unfortunately, my family member was very ill when she moved in and has already moved out into a hospice home. We are very sad that she could not enjoy the benefits of living there.

I literally think they are the best. They have been a 5 out of 5 on everything since we've started. My dad passed away a month after moving in, and everything around the move-in, the way they have supported my mom and dad as they moved, and the support they're giving my mom now after he passed, has been amazing. The environment and location amongst the trees and flowers and animals is very serene, which is especially nice when someone is going through a traumatic time. The Glenn Hopkins has just been great.
We chose The Glenn Hopkins because of the pricing and you cannot beat the friendliness. The staff is super friendly as are the residents. It is not clicky like some of the other places are. It is an older building, so it can get cold and they need window replacements. They are having trouble keeping kitchen staff which is why the food got a lower score. Overall I would still recommend them, they just need to make some improvements.

Response from The Glenn Hopkins
February 4, 2022Thank you for taking the time to review our community. We appreciate your insights which help us to continue to improve. Look for some capital improvement projects in 2022 that got delayed due to the pandemic, but are now on track. Our goal is to bring you a quality dining experience with each meal and we will continue to work toward meeting and exceeding expectations at times.
I would tell other families they're better off hiring home help than going here. I think that's true for any community. For what you pay for, you might as well hire your own help. One of the main reasons my loved one chose The Glenn Hopkins was the activities. They have an activities sheet that makes it look like they have all these activities, when in fact people don't show up for them. Before moving in, we explained that she really likes to play cards. They said they had tons of cards and Bridge players. After moving in, that was not the case. And they didn't really do anything to help with that either. She would show up for an activity, and there was nothing. They didn't have anything where they tried to integrate the person into the community. There was no real orientation/integration procedure. Also the food was not good. Often she was sick from it. It was very salty. And if she would ask for something simple like a banana, they wouldn't have it.

February 4, 2022Thank you, Leroy, for taking the time to share your experience at The Glenn Hopkins Senior Living Community. We appreciate you recognizing our friendly and welcoming atmosphere with everyone who lives and visits our community!
Our tour was very thorough and informative. We felt they were very transparent with pricing and amenities. We were impressed with the beautiful grounds and marsh views. They have done good job with common spaces and the outdoor areas look inviting (and we toured in the winter). There is scheduled transportation to almost anywhere you need to go. [Name removed] spent over 2 hours with us going over every question my parents had. I appreciated her patience and kindness.

I have a dear friend who has lived here for several years. On multiple occasions she has told me about lack of adequate food offered- - ie, no bread for breakfast. This means no toast whatsoever. This has happened more than once. Other times, There was no dessert at dinner, or as a last ditch effort, a package of mediocre cookies were passed around. These are just a few of the complaints re food, there were more. And they were ongoing, it was not an isolated incident. These folks look forward to meal times and have prepaid for their meals. This poor service is horrific, IMHO. If I worked here and saw no bread available for breakfast, I'd hop in the car and run to the grocery store and buy a few loaves! I am really disappointed in their food service. When I told my friend I wanted to make a complaint about this, she begged me not to- she didn't want to make waves and said she would be very embarrassed. So I took no action. But I note these food issues were ongoing last year and I don't know if they have improved or not. I would not recommend this place, based on Their high food charges and poor food delivery.

I appreciate [name removed] giving my Dad a great tour. This facility is in the mid-range for cost but the bedroom is small. The pro is that it is close to Southdale Mall.

After five months, there are still things to work out. At 98 years old, Mother is blind from macular degeneration and very hard of hearing. Some attendants do not announce who they are when they enter her room. They go in and out quickly, not giving her a chance to ask a question or request additional help, even 'tho she is paying for 15 minutes of service time each time they enter. It took three months just to get the food service people to follow her instructions to cut up her food. There are individuals in management and on the attendant staff who are very caring and responsive, but overall, there needs to be more training of the aides, especially considering the cost of care.

This is a good facility. My mother has lived at the Glenn first in independent living, then in assisted living, and now in the memory care unit. The rooms are fine. Lots of choices and they are well maintained, comfortable, and appropriate for the level of care needed. Services vary depending on your loved one's needs. Staff are considerable, professional, and they have gone out of their way to make the facility feel like home to my mother. Naturally a few glitches arise here and there but nursing staff are always willing to listen and quick to remedy. Resident activities also vary based on a person's need.

Our family is grateful to The Glenn Hopkins for the wonderful care, love and support shown to our Dad and family. When our Dad made the decision to move to a Senior Living location, we visited multiple homes but kept returning to The Glenn Hopkins. [Name removed] and the Marketing Team were very patient, allowing us to visit multiple times as they understood this was a major decision. Dad spent 5 months in The Towers and 10 months in Assisted Living. [Name removed] , [Name removed] , and [Name removed] were fantastic accommodating many schedule changes. Dad formed many friendships with residents and staff members. The nurses and aides are very special people who show love and patience every day. Dad did not want to spend his final days in a hospital. Instead, he spent them in his home being cared for by the people who he knew and who cared about him. Our family is OVERWHELMED by the love and support that was shown to our Dad and us during his final days and the days that followed as we planned his service and moved out. It was a steady stream of staff and neighbors who came to show their love for him and say goodbye. It was very touching that staff members took their personal time to come to the funeral service and we are so thankful to [Name removed] who officiated his service. The Glenn was an extension of our family. Dad frequently would say “God brought me to The Glenn”. We are thankful to everyone who touched his and our family’s lives. We highly recommend The Glenn Hopkins. [Name removed]

I toured here and it was okay. It’s a huge facility. I think if I lived here, even I would get lost because it’s so big. But the facility itself seemed to be well cared for and maintained. Probably because it’s larger, there were more options and services available. They had a very large staff as well. I think overall it was a lot bigger than what my parents would’ve been comfortable with. They had a few different amenities and activities to offer like a big chapel, crafts, games, and there was a salon onsite

We toured this community it was an excellent tour. They answered all of my questions It was an attractive community. I saw they had a list of daily activities and a menu for the food. But it seemed like a ghost town to me I saw hardly any staff and no residents. I wasn’t really impressed. I just felt it wasn’t a good fit for my brother.

My loved ones love their apartment here. The staff have been really great. I do feel they could do more with the activities they offer. The community is clean and the grounds are beautiful. This community is in a good location. They offer ten meals a week and the food is ok. They do seem to charge a little too much for what they offer. I would recommend taking a look at this community.
