I hate to write a poor review of this place - but am actively looking for another place. My mom loves her room as it is the comforts of her own home with all her previous memories and furniture but that’s about it. In the few years she has been there - they have been thru several changes in staffing. From top management to cooks/housekeepers/waiters. I don’t hold that against them as it is the way things are in an oil town. The picture displayed as advertisement of Polo Park isn’t even true. They replaced all the grass with rocks! There is only one elevator and when it breaks they are confined to their room if they can’t manage the stairs. I don’t even know how one elevator passes safety regulations! It advertises a rate for one bedroom as 2400/month. We are paying 2700 and they increase the rate every year. How can they increase rates when this population is on a fixed income??? And how can they justify increasing rates when they fail to deliver services? Housekeeping is allowed 15 minutes to clean each room. So pretty much all you get is the trash picked up, toilet bowl scrubbed and floor swept/mopped. The food. It’s a nice dining room and all the residents get along - but the meals can take an hour before you get served (or longer) and then when they come to get your order they often don’t have what is on the menu. They deliver a roll and salad options first so at least you have something to eat to tie you over. They have a new pastry chef whose desserts are often inedible. The cupcakes tonight were hard as rocks! The meat is often to tough to cut through. You would think they would get the hint from all the leftovers - but it just seems to be getting worse. The meals are often not well balanced at all - which surprises me since they have chefs. (Versus short order cooks). I actually don’t know of any residents who aren’t complaining right now. It really saddens me. My mom deserves better. And so does yours. In case this isn’t dated - it was written in November of 2019.

  • Polo Park Estates is worth a look for a pleasant, safe place.

There is a wide variety of activities and interesting people at Polo Park Estates. This makes for a very pleasant living environment. They have an excellent chef. Staffing for the food service and housekeeping has been spotty sometimes because of the boom in Midland. This means that there are sometimes issues or delays. Overall, however, everyone is helpful and cheerful, and management works hard to make things go smoothly. Lots of nice amenities are available such as a shuttle, live music, games, special holiday celebrations, Home Health if needed, and good support among residents. It is a safe, pleasant place for independent living seniors.

  • Super friendly but constant maintenance problems with no resolution and poor food

Will be moving to another place soon. The folks are very friendly and that sold us on the place. But the food is very poor; just seems like a plate of Glop every night. I tried for weeks to get maintenance to fix items in my apartment and was unsuccessful. I finally had a friend come over and do the repairs for me. My apartment is near a loud A/C unit that keeps me awake at night. The A/C and heat never work properly in my apartment. I've alerted management to my issues and nothing has been done. I want to stay because the people are so nice and friendly. But the noise from the A/C, the poor response from Maintenance, the parking lot that floods every time it rains so that it is a lake and you can't get your car in or out. There just so many things that make it not worth it.
