The overall experience was friendly, helpful and all questions answered. Cleanliness is excellent, staff is very friendly and ready to help. Quality of care is excellent. Meals are wonderfully prepared and there is a great selection of food served. I've eaten there a couple times. I went on one activity with my sister and enjoyed it immensely. The driver is excellent, the residents who went were very friendly. Value for cost is excellent. My sister has a beautiful room with a small patio on main level. All meals are provided, plus cleaning service is provided to include changing her bed and giving her clean towels, plus there are several varied activities she can participate in. Parkrose Chateau ownership changed last year and was purchased by Hawthorn. Since then everything has gone downhill quickly and dramatically. I have sent dozens of emails over the course of the last nine months due to concerns, with zero response from management. My parents have experienced black mold, mice, ants and no housekeeping service for over three months (they are supposed to receive weekly cleaning services that is included in the rent). The food is very spotty because the facility is unable to retain employees for any length of time, including the chefs, maintenance, dining hall servers and housekeeping. My parents were displaced for over nine months due to a black mold issue in their cottage. A high level manager had the nerve to suggest that my parents were at fault, which is disgraceful. We were told directly by the mold experts that it was caused by a slow leak below the flooring. So much more to write, but character limit here! AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE!

This is a good place for a loved one. The staff are friendly and the community is affordable. The staff are attentive to the residents and willing to assist with questions or concerns. The food is good. Right now there is no activities director in the community, so activities are off and on.

Multi-year experience with an elderly friend we were responsible for. Facility is somewhat older but has been remodeled and upgraded as it presents well and is very comfortable. Food is well prepared and contains a nice variety. Lots of activities and entertainment. High point of this operation is the Management and Staff. They are friendly, attentive and appear to truly care about and for their residents. Would and have recommended Parkrose Chateau several times.

Out of all of the facilities I looked at, this one was my favorite. The building is beautiful and open. They had just been bought out by another company when I was looking.
Our sister tour the facility and she said that it was not quite as friendly as another place we looked at, and the value was not an al la cart options. It was like a take it or leave it value.
I've had a good experience here. They try really hard and listen to what you want. They have lots of activities, and we went to the museum the other day, which was a lot of fun. My apartment is very good, and perfectly adequate for one person. A lot of places are a lot more money, so think it's a great value for the money.

They're a great place. It's extremely clean. The staff is incredible. They're all really nice people. I've really enjoyed getting to have relationships with them - pretty much everyone I've met - the director, the sales manager, the general manager, the front desk staff. Unlike almost every other retirement or old folks home that we went to, it doesn't have a smell to it at all. It's more like a resort than a retirement community. The only thing they don't have is a pool! They always have a great selection of activities offered. I've really enjoyed it. I would want to retire here when the time comes.

If your looking for a place to take the worry away you might need to look a little harder. The facility itself is clean as well as the outside. However, the communication amongst the management staff is very poor. That’s not to say that it can’t change but from my personal experience it needs to be Seriously addressed. If you are not constantly calling You don’t get any answers and when you do get answers They’re usually not followed through on. Anyway, it could be a lot worse but it also could be much better. The staff is nice but Management could Definitely be better with it’s communication with residents, residents family’s and especially with each other.

My 92 year old Mother has been at Parkrose Chateau since July of 2015. In that time we've seen a lot of change. From locally owned to now owned by an investment group in Florida. More rollover in management, housekeeping staff and especially Chefs since the change of ownership. Things seem to have stabilized now just in time for Covid-19. Parkrose is one of the more reasonably priced communities in the tri-county area. I pray there is no rollover in the current managing staff, housekeepers or chefs for a long time to come. This outstanding group of people have kept the community entirely Covid-19 free since the pandemic began through strict adherence to health guidelines, cleanliness, and adopting new computer technology. As my Mom's caregiver I can't emphasize enough how hard they have ALL worked to make my life and that of the residents as pleasant and interesting as possible for people self-isolating in their rooms with no visitors or trips outside the building allowed.

It is a really friendly community but be careful with paperwork. The new manager is very helpful. Most of the staff are good but there's a couple with attitude towards my loved one. The food is very small portions and they serve sweets and fatty foods which is stuff that my loved one can't eat. Also, the majority of the time they get the orders wrong, at least during COVID. Prior to that, the meals were great and the staff were friendly. We chose this community because it had everything that my loved one wanted in a place and the price the reasonable.

the facility on the outside has mold, it looks dirty, and there were people right out front smoking. they were "10 feet" from the front door - which is not even the state law. to have to walk through smoke to enter the main building is not acceptable. the young woman running the front desk was nice and friendly - but that was really the only positive part of the first impression.

Response from Parkrose Chateau
May 15, 2019Hello, we are sorry Parkrose Chateau did not meet your expectations. We are in the process of deep cleaning the exterior of the building. We enforce smoking areas, however when it rains residents do not always stay in the designated areas. Our local team is working on a solution. If you have additional feedback please reach out to us at [removed] to discuss this further.
To begin with, this place is fabulous. The food is great and their staff has gone above and beyond for my friend. She has been going through a tough time but through the care from the facility they have been helping her to do better. She’s slowly beginning to get out of her room a bit more often and her starting to go out of her comfort zone little by little. I hope that this continues because the staff here is just fabulous. I cannot say how great they have been including the managers and the assistant managers. We have been very impressed. Their food is amazing. They have an executive chef that really does an excellent job and is very well trained. The meals that are served are very well balanced, not overly carb-ed, and even the desserts are not that extreme. My kids and I encourage her to stay here forever because of how great of a place it is.

October 10, 2017Hi there, thank you so much for your positive comments about Parkrose Chateau! Your recommendation means so much to us and we're so happy to have earned it. Thank you again for taking the time to let the world know about your positive experience. Have a great day!
My father has recently made the move into this community and so far things have been going well for him. The staff have been attentive to his needs and I am comfortable with the care he has been receiving. He has been enjoying the dinning experience with the other residents as well as other amenities. Overall it has been a great fit and I would recommend it to anyone interested.

The staff have been great. They have bent over backwards to make sure mom is well cared for. The chef has visited a couple times to make sure the food is ok and to see if they can do anything else for her. Mom has gained strength and is doing better health wise. This is a peaceful and good feeling place. The community offers everything you could possibly need. They have a community bird that welcomes you. This community is in a good location and it has a homey feel to it. I would recommend this community.

My wife and I are settled in very well here. We love being here in our new apartment. We found needing to downsize from where we were and this apartment is just perfect for us. The community offers quite a few activities which we really haven't looked at yet other than me playing pool occasionally. The food here is not bad. They do offer courtesy transportation but due to me using an electric scooter it can't go on the bus.

The staff was very friendly and helpful from the reception desk to the sales manager, dining wait staff and anyone else we have spoken with. The room was very clean and it had the amenities we required. The monthly cost also included cable tv and internet, electricity, water and garbage and weekly housekeeping. They will even change the bedding if we like. It offers a library, billiards, game room. There are washers and dryers on each floor for tennants. It is definitely the best value around for the amenities.

I really like living at Parkrose but I sure miss my washer and dryer but they do have a laundry room just down the hallway. I like their food but sometimes they get a little creative, and they even have protein plates which include cottage cheese and cheese. Very clean, and the staff is very friendly and accessible. The Managers are just great they pitch-in when anyone needs help they help serve meals very nice to all of us. Weds is our outing days, they do all kinds of game nights, Casino nite once a month, take you shopping and to doctor visits all included in your pricing. I would have no trouble recommending Parkrose to anyone.

I enjoyed my visit very much. Talked so long with Sales Leader that we missed lunch. It was too hot to see the gardens and walking path. I viewed a 1 BR that was previously a manager's apartment. Kitchenette with view of parking lot and front entrance. Then I looked a 2 BR/2 bath cottage with garage. I liked it very much. In retrospect, it really is more space than I need and unfortunately, cost prohibitive. I plan to return for lunch and a chat with residents. I am flexible with move date so I can wait for a differnt 1 or 2 BR in the building. My biggest dilemma is how much I still would like to be able to cook. All the apartments have kitchenettes. So I really need to taste the food and talk with the chef about special dietary needs. I do plan to look at two other communities. But I like this location and the people I interacted with.
