Great Care, Staff in Transitioning

Magnolia Court is is a big transitional period where they have a lot of brand new staff. The administrator is also brand new. The owner and nurses come from other states that travel to the community and they aren't always there. It would be nice to have more consistent staff at the community including the higher level management. The communication can be difficult, as the memory care unit doesn't have their own phone. In order to speak to a staff member in memory care you have to contact the main line and then they have to try and transfer you back to the memory care unit staff, and they sometimes won't pick up. The care for the residents is good. Medication management, hygiene care, dressing and bathing assistance is some of the care the community is able to provide. My loved one's room is always clean. The staff are very attentive to my loved one's needs. The community will also provide transportation to the clinic for my loved one and there is no charge for this.... Read more

tour review

Our family had an in person tour and it was a very good experience, the staff were very professional but the community to use felt more like a cruise ship on land, a little to excessive for our loved one personally.

Expectations so far

In the beginning I would give them 5 stars, but they have just changed executive directors and there are a lot of changes going on within the facility and staff. The assisted living residents get more attention than memory care which I feel is a bit backwards. I have been disappointed in the activities. They say they have activities provided, but I have not witnessed it. They have a lot going on in assisted living and they bring entertainment in, but I would really like to see more going in in the memory care unit. The director has only been here for a few weeks and I have not even met her yet, but we are hoping to see some improvements soon.

A very good community. They didn't feel they would have been able to care for my loved one.

This looked like a very good community but it was two story and I felt like it would be to much for my loved one to get around in a bigger community.

Response from Magnolia Court

December 8, 2021

Thank you for reviewing us at Magnolia Court. We are thankful that you trusted us to take care of your loved one. I apologize your experience with us went downhill and we didn’t live up to your family’s expectations. We have been making large strides to implement higher staffing ratios, additional training and have brought on some new clinical leadership team members. I thank you for your feedback and please don’t hesitate to reach out to talk further about your experience. – Kathryn Teach, Director of Operational Support, 707.447.7100

Best one in and around Vacaville

We shopped around. Magnolia Ct was the friendliest, cleanest and most conveniently located for us. The price was comparable to others that were not acceptable. They are in the process of remodeling so a few things have been unavailable. It is starting to come together nicely. The staff is very friendly and helpful for the most part. Only problem we had was trying to get maintenance to fix the bathroom door. We had to ask several times. Laundry is done regularly and the meals are good. Lots of activities if the residents want to participate. All medication is taken care of. They have a hairstylist that visits on a regular day and someone to clip nails for an additional fee. I do wish they would pay a little more attention to getting the residents to brush their teeth and helping them shave. I also wish they would monitor the oxygen machine better. Our resident there is constantly disconnecting his and loosing connectors.

Magnolia Courts

I recently went to Magnolia Court in Vacaville, CA looking for a place for my Mom. I really didn’t know what to expect or what to look for ... but I knew I, and my mom, needed help. When first entering the building, (with hesitation) i felt it was welcoming, very clean, I heard soft music in the background, which was soothing to my ear, and the reception staff was very warm. Many residents were going through the area and all looked calm. I chuckled to myself and thought,,,,what were you expecting? A woman came out to meet me and, I must say, she had such a sweet demeanor that I truly felt ‘ok’ to be there. Well, [name removed] , soon became a true light of inspiration for me. She and the other staff members were informative, reassuring, caring, patient and so very helpful to me. The family atmosphere and professionalism at Magnolia Court embraces you right away. My family and I were guests several times in their dining hall; and I must say .... they also provide very tasty meals ?? I felt their many activities and social opportunities are often and felt well-planned. My thanks to [name removed] for her loving spirit and to the entire staff for treating us with caring hands and always a smile. I would highly recommend this establishment for a loved one. ???????????????????? Carolyn ????????????????????

Friendly, Professional Staff

We toured here for my loved one. The people were really nice, and the staff was friendly and professional. However, the community was not as secure as I would have liked. I wanted my loved one to safely be able to enjoy the outside, so I ultimately chose another community.

A little too spread out...

After touring this facility, I saw that it was fairly nice. The building seemed a bit older, but it was still clean. My primary concern with this Brookdale location was the fact that the building was too spread out and things weren't quite as remote as my loved one would want them to be. Ultimately, it seems like a fine facility.

In A Great Location

It seem like this is where my parents need to be. My mom has made more progress and it was an easy move-in for my dad. They have 24-hour care and a hospital is down the street. The staff are nice, helpful, and cheery. My mom would love more trained nurses and experienced assistants. At times she says she has to wait for help but for the most part they are prompt. A few times, the entertainment did not show up and the movie night did not happen. They were disappointed to see the activity calendar but at times they did nothing.

Best of Vacaville

After viewing all the Assisted Living facilities in Vacaville, we chose Brookdale at 1111 Ulatis Drive as the best option, both for value and amenities. The facility has a good feel to it, and the staff have been friendly and helpful. The dining center is set up very nicely, however I would rate the food as a 7 out of 1-10. My only complaint is that their home office billing department does not seem to coordinate well with this branch facility, so none of our billing statements so far have been correct.
