As the friend of someone whose Mom was a resident in assisted living and hospice, I can attest to the excellent care that Lorien caregivers and staff provided. Caregivers and staff were attentive and treated their patients like family. I would recommend this facility highly.

I would recommend this place. It's pretty good. Others that I know, that went here were satisfied, and I am also pretty satisfied. There is circumstances where it is difficult putting someone in here but overall, it is a pretty good place.

the director of admissions was very friendly and accommodating. they tried their best, but they may have been overwhelmed - so much so that they may have not been able to provide my loved one with the attention they needed. i do wish that they could've given me a few more calls to relay information regarding my loved ones level of care and needs. i did find this community expensive, so it was fortunate that i was able to separate the billing into two monthly payments. the only issue with that is that my loved one was only able to use two weeks out of the full month; when i brought this to their attention and requested a credit or compensation, it fell upon deaf ears.

Our family had an in person tour and for our loved one it was just extremely way to large. There are five dining halls there and with the cognitive stage our loved one is at we thought it was would be entirely to overwhelming. However, we do have friends living there now and they absolutely love it
My mother lived at Harmony Hall for 21 years. She had medical conditions that made it unsafe for her to live alone, but she didn't want to live with her children. She started in independent living and really thrived there. She was relieved of the burden of managing her prescription drugs, and cooking meals; two tasks that she really needed help with. She took advantage of the outings and activities offered by Harmony Hall. Over the years her health declined. After a stroke left her severely impaired, she moved to a higher level of care. Through the years, Harmony Hall constantly assessed her current needs and made adjustments to her care as needed. The staff was a fabulous partner with me to provide the best quality of life we could achieve. My mom was not always easy to care for, but the folks at Harmony Hall worked very hard to find ways to improve her life as she aged and her needs and capabilities changed. The facility is very clean and well maintained. They refurbish the well used common areas regularly to keep them fresh and in good repair. They have areas our family used to hold gatherings so we could include Mom, even after her health prevented her from going out to events. Every staff member greets residents by name; a skill that I am a little jealous of, and is appreciated by the residents and families. They all had techniques for working with my mom. The on site occupational and physical therapy are outstanding. So is the nursing care. And when our family reached the end of life phase with Mom, Harmony Hall was excellent at that as well, partering seamlessly with Gilchrist, right in her familiar home, mom's Harmony Hall apartment. Harmony Hall was a great home for Mom 21 years ago when was mobile and actively participated in activities. It was still great as her health declined over the years. Mom had a peaceful passing, in her own apartment at Harmony Hall, with her family and familiar caregivers around her. I am thankful we were able to provide this in partnership with Harmony Hall.

If you want a second family that will truly care about your loved one, research no further- Harmony Hall is the right choice! I did EXTENSIVE research before transferring my mom from rehab to Harmony Hall, and I couldn't be happier. I was impressed with the staff before the pandemic, but now I am honestly just blown away by the level of commitment by the entire staff - not only to my mom's heath and safety, but to her happiness and desire to stay socially engaged. The amount of communication with the families during this quarantine has been simply remarkable and appreciated more than I can express. The staff has gone above and beyond to keep my mom connected to her family through video calls and now even an in--person visit by my sister and nieces from a safe distance. I look forward to being able to fly back to Maryland and see my mom and thank the staff. Harmony Hall is an absolutely beautiful facility with an incredibly caring staff. I was extremely worried when COVID-19 first hit and was scared for my mom and the entire elderly population across the country, but it all changed when one of her nurses told me on the phone that she loves my mom "as if she were her mom."

I would highly recommend Harmony Hall to anyone looking to reside in, or place a loved one in their care. My mother has been a resident there for a year, and will be turning 85 in October. Her life has literally been renewed by this facility. They genuinely care for their residents, from the cleanliness, the superior food preparation, activities, health needs, etc. I cannot say enough! My mom was heavily medicated when she came to Harmony Hall, and is now off of all depression/anxiety medications, in part due to the atmosphere fostered in Harmony Hall. My father was placed in a home that literally wheeled the residents out every morning and sat them in front of televisions. I wish I had know about Harmony Hall for my dad, as I'm sure his last years would have been enjoyable. My heart is full with gratitude to both the staff and director, as now my mom can live in "Harmony" for her remaining years!

Response from Lorien Harmony Hall
September 12, 2019Thank you, Sharon!
My mother is at Harmony Hall and I am not happy with the facility or many of the people on staff from management treating me as if I work for them to the arm twisting to pay more. Many of the employees are not happy due to the conditions which they have to work from too many people that they have to service to not enough support for the residents. The management does not answer many questions of family members and the director always states that she will get back to you when you have a question, but never does. The answer is "I will investigate it." This is a constant complaint that I have heard from other family members of residents and from current and past residents. I have asked for the last two years the cost break down for the level of care and I have not received this information in writing.. I am investigating other facilities due to the management of this facility and the constant harassment to pay more without a clear definition to what the cost will cover. Something must be done. Just because a person is aging doesn't men that they should be taken advantage

After undergoing rehabilitation for a hip injury, my 81-year-old father resided at Harmony Hall for about six weeks in a respite care apartment. Kendall was extremely helpful with the admissions process and continued to provide top-notch assistance and attention throughout his stay, all the way through and beyond his discharge. She could not have been more helpful and accommodating. The nurses and other staff members were also great, making us feel at ease while moving through what was a completely unfamiliar situation for my dad, myself and the rest of our family. I highly recommend Harmony Hall.

For the Price we paid for the care our family was very pleased with all the Loving people who worked at this facility We looked at some Dementia Care Facilities that were great but so outrageously expensive who can afford them except for the very rich!! They were all over 9,000 plus a month. I am told that Harmony Hall is going to build a new wing that will be designated specifically for dementia care. This is much needed and greatly appreciated. We found the living quarters to be extremely adequate and the medical care was fantastic. As with all places there are good employees and not so good. The ones we found to be outstanding were the ones we requested and got assigned to our loved one. It is in close proximity to Howard County General Hospital and Gilchrist Hospice Care which is also a huge asset. They always listened to our needs and addressed them immediately. Please give this very affordable place a good look and consider where they are heading in the future with the new dementia wing.

- next door to nursing facility that takes Medicaid - most likely be on 3rd floor (common areas visually confusing -room hallways too plain - can't tell what door is hers) - most people looked [removed] and wheel chair bound
