A Great Place to Live and a Nice Community

This is a wonderful community. The staff are very friendly and they are very helpful. The community is always clean when I visit. The staff communication with the family is wonderful! The meals are wonderful and there are three meals a day served. If the resident doesn't like what is being served the resident can request a deli or grilled cheese sandwich. This facility had been very good so far, overall. My experience with the staff has been good. The food is good, I've had some of the meals and really liked them. They offer a good variety of activities. The Activities Director is really great about encouraging the residents to participate. I do wish we'd be more informed about changes in medication, I'd appreciate more communication in that respect. But overall, my loved one seems to get plenty of attention and care. I would definitely recommend this facility to friends and family.

Highly recommend

My loved one has spent time in many different communities. Juniper @ Monroeville is hands down, the best. It is clean, free of odor. The dining is restaurant style, and the food is tasty. The wellness team is consistent and compassionate. Management is knowledgeable and prompt to respond. Placing your loved one is difficult as it is, but I would highly recommend Juniper of Monroeville.

Stay Involved

What's good about it: there are a lot of men for my husband to interact with. They have a nice camaraderie. However, I do have concerns about his care - especially medication management. The staff are great from a personality and helpfulness standpoint. I think they just don't have good processes in place. I see the same people working there which is good, but I've noticed turnover among the residents. My impression is that they're trying to get there, but they're not there yet.

Would Not Recommend.

Overall our experience with the community has not been good. We had many issues arise while our loved one was there. The staff was not cooperative. They do not seem to be very transparent with what they do.

Would Recommend - Just Keep on Top of Things

Overall, most everything has been fine. The place itself is very nice, and most of the people are very nice. Most of the time the staff handle things well, although sometimes things aren't finished or followed up on without reminding them. But eventually they get around to doing things.

A Good Place Overall

Everyone is very nice. The place is beautiful. I feel very blessed to be able to have my loved one there. In general, they're great. The director is wonderful and has been very kind to us and to my loved one. Their communication is lacking a little bit though. We have to be on top of everything or we're not told certain things. (I don't know if they're understaffed or what the issue is.) But compared to where she was before, it's SO much better. And I'm glad we made the change.

It's vibrant, engaging, well managed, and they actually LOVE what they do. Every place out there has its ups and downs. This place manages them and doesn't try to sugar coat concerns but addresses them. We are more than pleased with absolutely everything. Worth Every cent

I would have liked Juniper Village. They had what I needed for my loved one. The people were friendly and accommodating. This was one of my top two choices for a place for my loved one. They also had memory care unit, which I was looking for.

Dad's Experience

The staff were great. They were very attentive, caring, and compassionate. They looked out for my dad's dignity. They were just awesome. The common spaces of the facility were very nice. There were different places you could go if you wanted some privacy. It's set up very nicely and has a homey feeling. Really the only issue was my loved one didn't care for the food. But when he passed away, they staff were absolutely wonderful Quite a few of our family members were there visiting, and they brought pitchers of water and juice to us and were very attentive asking if we needed anything. And when he passed, they were very compassionate and made it as comfortable of an experience as possible. I would highly recommend them to other families.

A good assisted living facility better than most

This is one of the best communities in the area for the price. It is well managed and a good price. They have activities like opera reviews and more to interest the residents. This is a good physical facility.

very good job

The staff made the move in process very and smooth. The cost of the care may be about 15 - 20% over service value. Although the staff does do a great job of taking care of my loved one.

A good place to be

We looked at 3 places and Harbour Assisted Living seemed the least like a nursing home. Also, they offered a really big room VS a smaller room or room you had to share. It seemed more like a community. I have eaten here and the food was not fresh. My sister said some days the food is good and some days it is not depending on who is cooking. my favorite part about this community has been the people here and the atmosphere. My sister is happy so I am happy. I gave them a lower score on cleanliness because I think they need to vacuum more often. I think they need to offer more fresh foods for the residents and food with less salt. They are very understaffed recently, so I think that needs to be addressed. There is one person who is underappreciated, the activities director. She is WONDERFUL. She knows the residents, she has a variety of activities, and she keeps the residents happy. She always goes above and beyond. I would still recommend Harbour Assisted Living.

Just Fair Not Great

The positives: Activity Coordinator tries very hard. The general staff is pretty good. The negatives: The population, specifically my relative, has a very poor memory. The management is constantly confusing her with schedule changes such as shower times, laundry, housekeeping etc. It seems when someone is scheduled to be there a staffer doesn't show up. When we go there and try to speak to the Director she is never there. No one ever seems to know what is going on if there is an issue. For all this cost one who hope for much better care.

Not a good fit for us

When I visited this community it did not seem to be very active. It was quiet when we walked in. This is a good sized community with elevators. The rooms were nice and we were well received. The staff we met during the tour were courteous and professional, however I did not get the feeling they wanted us there.

Memory Care
March 18, 2017

My husband and I were greeted with our names inside of a frame that was sitting on the receptionist's desk and when we left the building we were given a box with a scone for each one of us! The building both inside and outside is very nice and clean and appealing. The building and the rooms had large windows which let a lot of sun light in and brightened everything up. All of the rooms had their own shower which was a plus. The rooms were generous and spacious and had a large closet for the resident's clothing, etc. The only thing that would made the surrounding more favorable from my point of view is to have a large therapy gym for the residents to be treated by Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy. Treating patients in their rooms limit the therapist's ability to provide the patient with all of their needs. Otherwise is was a very nice place for my mother to reside.
