Our family had an in person tour with Independence Village of Peoria, and even thought it was an great tour experience, the community just did not offer the care at the same level that we were needing for our loved one.
We really like all the different activities they have for the residents to do and our loved one seems happy with the meals. Overall based on our experience we would recommend Independence Village of Peoria to other families.

This facility is very nice. The staff was really friendly and met our needs. I think they all did the best they could with the training that they had there. The front office staff was fantastic. The food was good, my only suggestion would be that they offer more options. It seemed like they had a handful of meal plans and would rotate them. A little more variety would be good. They had several activities, shopping trips, restaurant trips available which was great. The facility was clean and well taken care of. If we had a problem with anything, maintenance was great about getting it taken care of in a timely manner. Housekeeping was lacking a little bit, but the room was pretty clean. I would recommend them to family and friends.

I'm really happy about all the activities they offer, that's a huge bonus for my mother. She's busy all the time; she's a very social person so that works out great for her. I love that they have an exercise program and an exercise center available. They take frequent outings, she especially enjoys going out to restaurants. I love the fact they have care providers on site, even though it isn't "Assisted Village" they have Care Solution. They are the the reason we were able to have my mother here, if not, we would have to find a place that offered assistance. That made it reasonable and we felt that the staff, even though they weren't nurses for assisted living, they still have a front desk person 24/7 - which is huge to me. There are only certain services provided through Care Solutions, but there is a nursing staff on sight in case of an emergency. The place is lovely, they just renovated it. It's very nice with tons of upgrades. With all of those things, we are very pleased with our decision.

This was a nice community, it was not as clean as another community that I was looking at. I liked the dinning area a lot and they gave a lot of information on the tour. However, my mother- in law was at another community and I felt like they would be better together.
Everyone is really nice. It seems to be a really nice place, with a good layout, and lots of things to offer. The residents seem really happy. They always greet each other and us. No one looks miserable like we've seen at other places. It seems like everyone is pretty independent, just like the community name says. It seems more like a hotel than a nursing home. I really have nothing negative to say. Her apartment is small but pretty nice, and it seems to have everything that she needs.

I would say come take a tour and stay for lunch. The food is tolerable, not great but not real bad either. Overall I've been happy here. It's friendly here and a nice place to live. My apartment could be bigger, but I'm satisfied with it. I like playing trivia with the other residents. They allow pets, so I was able to bring mine with me.

I would tell people to come check the community out, have a few meals. The only complaint I have is the food. The food has too much salt, and will arrive cold. Overall, the food just isn't good. Independence Village hasn't had any issues with COVID. They are doing construction and I feel this should improve the community. I don't feel you get your money's worth at this community, however.

We have had no problem with Independence Village community, they are great. They have movies for the residents to watch and before COVID they would take little outings and have church services. First impression of this community was that they are very caring.

Staff of Life is a NON exsistent staff. You pay for this service...But NO ONE does their JOB. We hired them for 10 days, and they left my father in a chair for those 10 days. No trips to restroom. No help standing. One time they got him up. Then refused to get him back to the chair. CNA's REFUSED, and called the fire department. My father has passed now. He had NO QUALITY of Life in Independence Village. If you choose this facility, KEEP your eyes on your loved one!

Independence Village of Peoria is a wonderful place for my parents! We moved my parents in 2 months ago. They lived in another community before and they really didn't adjust well. They love the food and the staff! They have been extremely accommodating and wonderful with my parents. They have made a lot of friends and have had so much fun in just the past 2 months. They have a lot of great entertainment and other fun things to do. The housekeepers are wonderful and the kitchen staff are super! The administrator is wonderful and caring and has gone above and beyond for my parents! I cannot say enough good things about Independence Village!!

First hand experience of WHERE NOT to MOVE TO...Independence Village is a JOKE. They want one thing!! YOUR MONEY. 1st day my father was there he fell and broke his right arm. We hired Staff of Life to help him in his daily living skills...CNA's REFUSED to get him up to the restroom. NOT THEIR JOB.. One called the fire department to get him up out of his transport chair. They got him in it fine...Reported NOT THEIR JOB TO LIFT!!! I personally talked to Nursing staff about the care and needing help. Got us NOWHERE...If you LOVE your family, DON'T PUT THEM IN INDEPENDENCE VILLAGE IN PEORIA...They didn't get him up for days. He was not assisted to the restroom for days....Moved him out to a skilled nursing facility and Independence Village Charged us for another month...He lived there 11days... [dates removed]. Was NOT a GOOD place. When I told [name removed] we were moving him out, and movers would be there on the [date removed], nowhere did she say you are paid thru [date removed]...RIP OFF... it's ALL ABOUT GETTING YOUR MONEY and NOTHING about CARE! Go listen to their sales pitch...Makes it sound appealing...then live it...I've never seen so many people that DO NOT DO THEIR JOBS!!!

This is a nice place, but the food service is not the best as far as the food choices and they need more servers to pass the food out and get refills. Also a need to vacuum the hallways more offend. and more air-fresheners would be nice. When the residence tell them that somethings needs work on it takes awhile to get things done.

We moved my father into Independence Village last April. We thought we would have much resistance from him, but he willingly went to visit and fell in love with the staff, the people and his apartment. We knew the moment we walked through the doors that it would be a perfect fit for Dad. He is enjoying new friends, new activities and a new freedom and security. He knows if somthing were to happen to him, help would be right there, but yet he has his privacy as well. The staff couldn't be any friendlier. They take time with the residents and never that my father or myself have witnessed ignore or are rude to them.He enjoys the food and his dinner companions. Before any decisions are made to where to transition your loved one, please check out Independence Village.

I think overall my sister enjoys living there. She has made friends and enjoys bingo and some other activities. The facility is clean and the staff is friendly. I think the lobby could use some updating , maybe a little more up to date colors but her major complaint is the food. I have also overhead about 5 residents sitting outside complaining about what they had for dinner. They can't seem to keep kitchen help and the quality could be better. I know its hard to satisfy so many people but I think that is one thing they really need to work on. Overall though I would recommend Independence Village. I do feel she is in a good neighborhood and I feel safe having her there.

Staff is friendly, building is clean and nicely maintained. We toured a small and a medium sized 1 bedroom apartment and we were impressed with the size of both. The monthly rates for apartments are less expensive than the other communities we received information about. When you add in the cost of amenities that are not included in the monthly rate (Ameren, cable, WiFi) it’s a little more per month but still reasonably priced. My mom did not select this community as her new home but it was a very close second. I would recommend touring this community.

I toured here with my loved ones while looking for a new place for them. The community itself was nice enough, but it just did not have the level of care we needed. It was very similar to the community they were preparing to move out of, so we continued our search to find a place with more advanced levels of care.

My mom's stay at Independence Village is going wonderfully! The grounds are very well maintained. What stood out for me is the fact that everyone was very friendly and never hesitated to help if you needed it. My mom also has plenty opportunities to participate in activities and socialize; she's more busy now than she's ever been! I would absolutely recommend this community!
