Good Experience Overall
I work in the Healthcare field. I go into Homestead of Augusta at least 2 or 3 times a month. It is always clean. The staff is very attentive to their residents. The staff seems to have a personal interest in the residents. They don't act like it is just a job like some other facilities. The administration works well with our agency to communicate for the best interest of their residents.

You need to be on top of it
We chose Homestead at the time because we were in the midst of the pandemic and where the facility was located, the numbers of covid were less than in our home county. They did did communicate well with us during the pandemic. I would have liked to have known that her walker was broken, they just kept telling me that she was falling. When I went to clean out her room after she passed, I saw that her walker was broken. I think their phone system is not good, they have it clear across the room away from where residents would normally sit with their recliner. I do think they need change where the phone jacks are, because then we could not communicate with her.

Frustrated
Assisted Living may be okay but Memory Care was not. My wife was is in Memory Care. They do not follow their regulations. They do not have housekeeping in Memory Care. I had to clean and vacuum myself. They would put new sheets over a saturated urine pad. I had to change her diapers and clothes myself. I was not happy with the level of care.

Took a tour of this facility. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. Facility was clean and residents can either share an apartment with individual rooms (shared kitchen/bathroom) or if private pay one would get a studio apartment with kitchen/bath. Limited activities and meal service is provided at set times during the day. Residents are able to request snacks, sandwiches and other items outside of set meal times. Nice terrace for residents to enjoy. Small facility that seemed to have caring staff.

Best in town. Excellent facility, excellent tour, thank you. "Mom" was confused by other family information and somewhat by the tour. She has decided that the Fairways is not for her, mainly because it is expensive. She is getting along well at home.

A Place for Mom has scored Homestead of Augusta 8 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.

Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
