Do not currently have openings and there is a waiting list. Facility was clean and well run. Care approach and philosophy was different than most. Also locally owned and operated

We are very happy at Homestead. My husband seems to be very relaxed and content. I like the size of it and the workers are very caring.

Thank you Homestead

Homestead runs like a family should run and my mother is treated like a family member. Homestead provides loving care for my mother and I know that the staff really loves my mother the way I love her. They see beyond her dementia and see her as the person she is inside. The staff has the patience and understanding needed to work with dementia and they do a much better job than I would. In fact, I have learned more about dementia just by watching how they work with my mother and the other residents. Would I recommend Homestead Living? Yes, most heartily. I can go about my life, my work and activities, knowing that Homestead is taking care of my mother’s life and her needs. They are providing the daily care that she deserves.

Thank you Homestead!

Homestead took excellent care of my father. The staff was attentive and there were always plenty of people on staff to give one on one attention when it was needed. We were always very comfortable visiting and felt Dad got great personal care. Thank you Homestead!

Thank you Homestead

My mother is safe and very well cared for. The staff is very caring. The facility is small and home-like. There is a lot of one on one attention. The backyard is very nice. We are always very welcome when we visit.

We appreciate Homestead!

In January 2014 it was necessary to find a memory care facility for Dad, who had just come under hospice care. Homestead was highly recommended by the an organization which has staff placed in various memory care and assisted living facilities in the Madison area. We did our homework and Homestead definitely turned not just to be the best facility, but the best home for our Dad. We have no regrets. Homestead staff is loving and competent. They do their work with good humor – they’re fun and funny. The activity coordinator is great with the residents and she schedules live musicians, various groups of young people to come and play and interact with Dad and other residents, and even a KinderMusik class which meets weekly in the family room. It is a wonderful sight to see residents sitting in a big circle around the instructor, the babies and their parents as they all move and respond to music. There are many other activities available and always something happening at Homestead! The cook prepares healthy, tasty meals and tries to use locally-sourced ingredients when in season. Homestead has a lovely backyard and patio, and just new in the summer of 2016 is an honest-to-goodness vegetable garden planned and installed by the daughter of one of the residents with the support and funding by the owners of the facility. Homestead is small (16 residents), with a good staff/resident ratio. Families of residents are very involved at Homestead and it has been amazing how we have gotten to know and support each other and their loved ones as well and meet for lunch outside of the facility. Homestead is not inexpensive, but we think it’s a better value than other local top-quality facilities. Even though we live in Madison, it’s worth driving and we visit Dad daily. We appreciate and thank you, staff and owners, [Removed] and [Removed] !

Our cook always wears gloves and food is cooked to the temperatures prescribed by our DHS 83 regulations. I'm so sorry this was your experience. I wish that you had brought your concerns to us at the time.

This was the priciest place...

This was the priciest place we visited and there were no toilets or sinks in the room.

Response from Homestead Living, Inc.

November 23, 2016

Our home has been designed with resident safety as our primary concern. A private bathroom presents serious risks for people living with Alzheimer's and other Dementias. Because we offer person-centered Memory Care and assistance with all aspects of daily living, our rates are higher than most independent living communities, but they are very fair in comparison with our immediate Memory Care competitors.

Owner said probably couldn't take a heavier care person like Mom right now, but highly recommends Homestead.

Response from Homestead Living, Inc.

November 23, 2016

I'm the Owner at Homestead Living and I'm surprised that was your experience. We pride ourselves on a very high Staff to Resident Ratio, specifically in order that we might be able to care for people with higher acuity, advanced disease progression, and heavy needs. We are firm advocates of Aging in Place and very accustomed to working with residents who have higher needs. Without more information specifically about your family, I can't speak further to your experience, except to offer my sincere apologies.
