What was promised when we were looking and what is reality are far apart and somewhat disappointing but at this time we feel it is better to try and work with Heritage on improving rather than looking to go elsewhere which we feel would be more detrimental to my mother's well being. Lack of a consistent leader appears to be the main issue. Has been a lot of management turnover in the 3+ months we've been there. If that settles down they may be able to make some progress.

Our family had an in person tour and we thought the tour experience great, really nice facility but they were just notable to accommodate our loved one due to their level of care.
The cleanliness is good but their apartment gets about 2 stars. The care service orders are followed but not the things like charging my mom's hearing aids or changing bed linens. We do wish there were more activities!

The staff was nice when I toured this community. Wasn’t a fan of the in wall heating and air conditioning, the room felt too much like a hotel room.
Our loved one thinks the meals are generally good but sometimes the dining service is slow so the meals aren't delivered on time and occasionally can be cold. We do think the value is over priced and right now they are understaffed which we are sure is out of their control

I toured Heritage Monona and it was like a five star hotel. The tour was excellent and the people I met were very nice and cordial. The community itself was clean and upscale. It was above and beyond everything you could imagine; and that's fine for those who still have their faculties, but my MIL (who needs memory care) wouldn't be able to use what they had to offer. It was a bit over the top for what we needed and I would rather put money into personal care, rather than chandeliers and mahogany. We chose another community because we didn't want to pay for the environment, and my MIL wouldn't be able to enjoy or take advantage of Heritage.
The Heritage Monona community took really good of our loved one while she was there.
Heritage Monona seemed like a great facility, it was our 2nd choice. The reason we did not choose them was just due to the cost and it was not as homey as we were hoping for.
They are under new management and they are trying to do their best they can. I would recommend the community to others. The residents are provided three meals a day and snacks, with several choices for breakfast. Evening meal is a little less fancy.

Heritage is a very nice looking facility. [name removed] was helpful during the tour. There was a bit of confusing communication as I wanted to tour both assisted living and independent living. [name removed] gave us a tour of the assisted living section and a little bit of the independent living although we were unable to view an apartment.

Heritage has been a good place for my mother. It’s clean, food is great, activities they offer keep my mom busy, staff is very nice to her. We love that she has church to attend on Friday’s and she can get her hair done right on site. However the communication between staff members can improve regarding my moms daily care. Very simple ADL care that should be done everyday for my mom that consistently gets overlooked. This is care that my mother pays for. It could be due to staff shortage as I understand Heritage is going through some changes. I will say [name removed] does follow through on return phone calls. We call him when other administrators or the nurse doesn’t return our calls. Kudos to [name removed]. We have addressed the issues via conference call. I am looking forward to the improved communication and attentiveness to my mothers ADL’s.

August 27, 2019Thank you for sharing your experiences. We're sorry to hear that your loved one is not getting the care they deserve! We would appreciate knowing more specifics about this situation. Would you be able to contact our quality department so we can address your concerns and form a plan of action to remedy them?
It's not too bad of a place if your loved one is fairly self-sufficient. But, when their health declines and they really need the assistance, good luck! Residents wait for up to 40 minutes for help after pressing their call button. I come and find my loved one still in pajamas with a soaked Depends at 11 AM in the morning, bed unmade and laundry undone. All of which we are paying dearly for. There appears to be a revolving door on the front of the building when it comes to staff. I have lost count of how many executive directors they have had in the last couple of years, not to mention other management positions. They have replaced the carpeting though, it looks great!

Amazing staff and availability of the management team. The Guest Relations and Executive Director were very friendly and introduced us to everyone in the management team and numerous staff members. Every person said hello to us, all the residents were having fun doing some quiz game on a tablet. No pressure while we were there and felt at home. We are excited our loved one is living there now. Everything is so clean and smells amazing from the popcorn when you walk in to the lunch we witnessed. I have had a lot of questions and no matter what time the Executive Director, [name removed] answers her phone and helps me out... Taylor has also been amazing, I interrupted him this weekend several times and he never once declined to help me. Staff was interacting with residents, Everyone seemed to be having being there and no one appeared to have anything bad to say. We talked with a few of the families waiting there and the biggest complaint we heard was that they wished there were more outings. They said they only go out once a week, but I think thats plenty. We also were invited to stay for lunch and if we didn't have another appointment we would have. We have definitely made the right choice

I am happy my dad is here they are taking good care of him. They are caring, helpful and responsive. They will always make sure he is clean and has clean clothes on. If he were to have an accident they are prompt to get him cleaned up. The food is good but he thinks its to blad, he is on a low sodium diet. He is in a nice spacious room with a restroom. Housekeeping will clean for him and do his laundry and put his clothes away. They have a sidewalk out front where they sit in chairs and enjoy the sun. I would recommend this community.

January 2, 2018We are glad your dad is doing so well at Heritage Monona! Providing a caring and comfortable environment for our residents and their guests is very important to us. We appreciate your comments!
I toured this facility while looking for a place for my Aunt. The reason why we did not pick this community is that they only had efficiency apartments which were right above the entrance. The marketing director was very helpful and informative. They answered all of our questions and gave us clear answers. It’s a very nice facility and the staff was friendly too. I would recommend it to other families.

December 20, 2017We are glad you had such a positive experience on your tour of Heritage Monona. Providing a friendly and welcoming environment for our guests and residents is very important to us. We appreciate your comments!
I was scheduled to take a toured here for my loved one, but when I arrived, they did not seem to be expecting me. I spoke with the front desk girls and was asked to take a seat. after that, I sat for more than 15 minutes before anyone spoke to me. I felt like I was being ignored or that my time was not important. I didn't feel; that the staff was competent either. If they could not take care of me well, How could they take care of my loved one?

December 15, 2017We’re sorry to learn that your experience at Heritage Monona was less than adequate! Quality matters so we appreciate your input. We will utilize your comments to help us improve.
My Father is here currently and so far he seems to be settling well. From what I’ve seen, the staff seems to be interacting pretty positively with my dad and he doesn’t have any complaints so far. We know someone who has a parent that’s here, too, and they seem to be pretty accommodating to his needs as well. Dad says the food is good and hasn’t had any complaints. They clean his apartment once a week and when I go in there it is pleasant smelling and it looks like it’s good. There are exercise classes, games, a daycare center will come by with little kids to interact with them. Laundry, meals, medication disbursement, furnishings, rent, and toiletries are included in the price. The only thing I would suggest that maybe they could fix would be a way to keep track of care requests. If you have a request on a specific type of care that your loved one needs, there’s no way of tracking to see if those requests have been taken care of. But overall, I would recommend them.
