High turnover and maybe half of the staff engages residents. We have locked horns with management several times, but have managed to make it work. Frequent visitation is best since there are little to no activities despite being advertised.

Would not recommend
There is no RN on site. Staff is not educated properly for Dementia/ Alzheimers residents. They quickly find fault in your family member for simple things but never corrects staff. Based off of our experience, I would not recommend Grace Manor at Lake Morton.

tour review
Our family had an in person tour with Grace Manor and all around it was 5 stars. It was our 2nd choice. Staff very friendly, very clean. Activities planned everyday. They were playing cards one day I was there, they had a dance party one other day I was visiting. The staff very friendly. I liked that the owners are local to our area, so they are able to keep an eye on their business. My own mother lives in another one of their properties, but in their Independent Living facility instead. I like how they run their properties. Their Independent Living facility gets the same food service as Grace Manor, so I know the food is really delicious. As we all know, the elderly have strong opinions about the food they get served!

Would not recommend for memory care
They need to be more educated on how to deal with those who have memory care issues. You have to follow up in the evenings when there is no one watching how the residents are being cared for. I would tell others to be prepared to visit often if you have your loved one here. Overall due to our experience I would not recommend Grace Manor to those looking for memory care for their loved ones.

So far so good
After looking around at some other places and then coming to Grace Manor at Lake Morton, we thought this was going to be the best fit for my loved one and her needs and it has turned out to be so. The staff always keep you well informed which is important in a situation like this. My wife says the food is good and she is critical about food. So far things are going well and we would recommend the facility to others.

Adequate, Pricey Care
There are minimal activities for the residents to do at Grace Manor. The information that was given to us during our tour, is not what they are doing. There is rate increase that is against their contract. There is mediocre supervision here. The care is fine and I would rate the caregivers higher than the administrative staff. There has been a high turnover of staff members.

Disappointed
I personally feel that there is a lack of supervision from the staff. Our loved was kicked out after 8 days because of that, there was an incident with another resident. We are still waiting on a refund. I would definitely would not recommend them.

All in all quite pleased. If I had to do it all over again, I would make the same selection.
I chose Grace Manor for several reasons. I liked the staff, and the location works extremely well for our family to visit frequently. I thought it was an attractive and appealing facility. And everybody I encountered was very sweet, pleasant and helpful. My loved one has fallen a couple of times since he's been there, which is one of the reasons we needed care for him. They let me know very quickly and called an ambulance as needed. They seem to keep things well-maintained and clean. They have a smaller number of residents, which is an asset. And they seem to try to keep everybody engaged and doing something. Activities are mostly in the mornings , so I haven't been able to observe, but I've been there for a little party they had one time, which was lovely. I would recommend it at Grace Manor. The facility is lovely, and everyone has been very pleasant. My loved one isn't always cooperative when it comes to dressing and grooming, so I can't fault them for any struggles they might have with that aspect, as I struggled with that as well. All in all, it's been a great place.

Don't send your family member here.
I removed my loved one after he had only been there for two weeks. They locked him out of his room during the day, and there's no bathroom on the floor for the residents to use. They said that's their policy, and that they take the residents to the bathroom every couple of hours. But that's not happening. Every time I went to see him, his diaper was full of urine. He was severely dehydrated and had a UTI from not being changed often enough. He fell there several times due to the combination of dehydration, the UTI, and not getting enough to eat. (They would put food in front of him, but they didn't help make sure he ate it.) When he fell, nobody called me to let me know, even though they sent him to the hospital both nights. I've seen him at 3 pm still in his pajamas, dirty and needing a shower. He couldn't even stand up and walk when I got him home. And now that he's home and away from there, he's walking by himself and needing very little assistance getting around. It was a terrible experience. He lost 10 pounds in 2 weeks there. It's not a place you would want to put your loved one at all.

Centrally located
The community was very reasonably priced. The staff was always pleasant and very nice to me and my loved ones. We could visit the community by appointment, and they would let me bring her dog in to visit. The communication between the staff and the community was good and they returned calls quickly. I would recommend this community to others after the pandemic due to all the restrictions. The community is located centrally located in the downtown area.

Not for level 3 or 4 Alzheimer's Care
I would tell others looking that the staff members are not trained in fall prevention, there are no protocols in place for falls that occur or preventing falls that could potentially occur. They do not have enough supervision at night for people who are unsteady. I do not think there was enough medication follow up either. The facility says they are experts in dementia programming, and yet there was no programming available for our loved one. He fell in the facility 7 times and the last fall led to his demise. I met with the care team and supervisors to go over what their fall protocols would be and they provided very little information and had nothing on hand. They also lost many of his personal items that he came here with. They lost his dentures and he lost 50 pounds in 8 weeks after being here. We were very disappointed. It would probably be a good fit for a level 1 or 2 Alzheimer's patient, but for someone in level 3-4, it is not a good fit and the care is inadequate.

Wonderful and Comfortable
I would tell others it is wonderful and comfortable. I believe my loved one received good care. The staff was alright to work with. Tiffany is wonderful to work with. The issue I had with the community is that I wasn't able to get all my loved one's belongings. The community kept saying I did get all their belongings back. I kept telling the community I was missing some belongings. This really upset me. I've never got a call back from them to resolve this issue.

Not Enough Staff
Things are presented very differently than what happens after your parent moves in. They do not have enough staff on the floor to adequately care for the needs of the residents. They take lots of pictures and make it look like everything is fun times, but when your parent has an individual need, it is often neglected. Choose another facility, but if for some reason you have a parent here, make surprise visits at random hours of the day and night. Check their medicines to be sure they are really getting them. Best to use your own doctor outside of the facility if you want to be the one making the decisions. Beware of outside agencies coming in to give "services" to your loved one. If something feels off with your loved one, check it out. Educate yourself, and don't let the only information you get come from administration. You know what is best for your parent. The Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) regulates ALFs. You can look up reports for this facility and other facilities. I highly recommend it!
