The social director has been extremely helpful. I think the nurse that is in there now has been helpful as well. My loved one said the food is fabulous. I know that they are short on staff, but everyone is. They lack a receptionist which can be problematic when you are trying to call. otherwise it has been a good experience and we would recommend them depending on your wants and needs. The medication management could be better, as the staff could be giving my loved one's medication in person and watching my loved one take their medications. My loved one is bummed as the main nurse is leaving and there has been some additional staff turned over. It would be nice to see the community have a transportation for outings, shopping, lunches, and doctor appointments.

Elder Homestead is a big house that looked to be falling apart. The rooms were small and depressing. The staff were friendly and great with their follow up, but it was just not the right fit.
I do not recommend this place. Communication and transparency is just horrible and unacceptable. My mother has lived here 4 years (just recently into their memory care) and I feel very unwelcome by staff (newer staff) as turnover is very high. Some are just plain rude. Senior director ignored my message of concern and to speak with him. And they refused accountability/ liability for something a nurse broke in mother's home. She deserves better, and so do I, for her., we are very close, I don't feel she's getting good care. The studio's are very small, especially those in memory care, compared to the studio's in the assisted living units. Memory care is sectioned off/locked from the rest of the building, it feels like a locked up environment. I am checking into a better facility for her.

Elder Homestead was affordable but was on the older side (first AL facility in MN I think they said).

We really like all of the staff members there we have enjoyed working closely with them. However they could work to improve on the meals and dining service, that has not been so great. The quality of the meals are pretty mediocre we end up bringing our loved one food a lot. Based on the experience we have had so far with Elder Homestead we would absolutely recommend them to other families.

We had a good tour experience with Elder Homestead. The facility did look a bit run down and needed some TLC, it was just not the right fit for my loved one.
Our experience has been good so far but sometimes the meals can be a little bit of a hit or miss.

We chose Elder Homestead at the time due to the location, availability, and when we were interviewing, the staff all seemed friendly. They did say he would be able to stay, but while we were out of town they told us he would not be able to stay there anymore because they could not accommodate his falls even though this was nothing new for him. There was not much of any explanation, we had 48 hours to move all of his things out. We were not happy with the way we had to leave and how they handled it.

the quality seems fair and the staff is fine. the food looks and smells really good but I have not had a chance to taste it yet. They have activities for the residence to do and I would recommend this community to others based on my experience

It's a smaller facility so they do a great job with one on one communication. They have communicated the covid plans and updates very well and have continued to engage the residence during covid. I would recommend this facility to others.

The staff members at Elder Homestead made sure to interact the residents from the memory care and assisted living together, instead of doing things separate. The rooms are adequate, we would say about a four out of five. We would recommend this community to a family or friend.

The staff at Elder Homestead is very helpful and reassuring. I felt comfortable leaving my mom there. Family members are able to Skype with resident while it is shut down for visitors. It is close to my dad's home so when things get back to normal he will be able to visit easily.

I had a very nice tour of this community. Everything went very well, this is a good community. The community looked nice, and well maintained. The staff was nice, and informative. They answered my questions, and the experience went well overall. We wanted more of an independent community, and this is more assisted living.

[Removed] is compassionate & VERY sweet ... we immediately connected on the phone which makes meeting face-to-face that much more exciting!!! The front porch is a DREAM!!! I can picture my dad sitting on the swing watching baseball across the street -- he would absolutely love it. This place has a ton of character and hidden treasures. [Removed] did a great job asking a lot of questions about what my dad would enjoy to make him feel right at home.

In general I think Elder Homestead is a nice place. I haven't met all of the staff, but the people I've worked with have seemed friendly and professional overall. The facility itself is nice looking, and they take good care of the residents. However, I do think that they're a bit understaffed. When we moved in they didn't really have anyone available to help us, and the one thing we did ask for help with took a while to get done. It's improved a bit, but I still think they could use a few more people.

My one and only complaint is that in the first 2 weeks of living there they have messed up on giving my mom her medications a handful of times. I sat down with director and nurse and believe it's resolved now but time will tell. It's a very important part of care and so it's really bad when they don't get it right all the time!
