My mother lived at Crane's Mill from Sept. 2020 until October 2021. She had moved from our big family home to Crane's Mill and was so hopeful that she would like it. As it turned out, she loved it and adapted very quickly. We were guided us through the process of getting her apartment ready and choosing all the new finishes, paint, and appliances. The apartment was beautiful and brand new. Once moving in she loved the daily activities and participated in every one of them. She met friends with whom she shared dinner every night. She developed meaningful friendships with friends and with all those who work at Crane's Mill. It is a warm and supportive community and I felt happy that she had so much support. I did not know how she would adjust and I can honestly say that she loved it-because she told me that all the time. You can trust Crane's Mill to be kind, supportive and loving to your loved ones.... Crane’s Mill is by far the nicest of the area’s senior communities. The grounds are very nice as is the new lobby. We have only seen select apartments of friends but they are nice. They also have villas, and assisted living and a nursing home if needed. It is however very expensive.

This is absolutely the most miserable place. They hire some of the rudest, nastiest people. Skilled admin & social worker [name removed] are pathetic best friends. Do not send any one you love here.

Response from Crane's Mill
April 2, 2020Hello Lina, Comments about our programs and services are very important to us. Whether from those we directly serve or others in the community-at-large, this voluntary input helps us identify what we are doing right and--most important--what could be improved. Our father was at Crane’s Mill for a couple of years. Unfortunately, his health gradually declined, and he suffered a hip fracture, while he was at Crane’s Mill. Then his health declined further. We all decided he would be better off at another facility, where his conditions stabilized, and he actually rallied, gained some weight, and improved overall. He has since passed, but his last 2 years demonstrated a better quality of life. We would not recommend Crane’s Mill for their family members.

Clean lobby and nice apartments. They also have separate cottages for independent seniors.

Response from Crane's Mill
May 15, 2017Thank you for sharing your thoughts on our community.
This place has gone way downhill. The rehab center does have some pros: Good physical therapy, great kitchen staff and descent food, good physician assistant and on call doctor, some nurses who care. Cons: It takes ages to find out who is assigned to help your loved one. When you do, good luck finding them. Aids are not dispatched to rooms in a timely manner (call buttons ring in perpetuity), patients with physical limitations hardly get assistance when they need it (left to pee in diapers even when cognitive and continent, left in wet diapers too long), aids have a negative attitude, temporary staff comes in and out and don't even know the patient's case. If you do try to bring an issue to someone's attention, the MO is denial and defensive behavior. This is not the place if you want a loved one treated with dignity. We will not be back

Awful. Upper management devious scoundrels. Deceptive, calculating and no integrity. Do not trust your loved one to these folks. Go to Green hill. They cajoled us for cash every step of the way. Care of your loved one is secondary.

The assisted living portion of Crane's Mill is sorely lacking in both personal care and level of activities. Because this is a continuing care community, the Activities staff has to spread itself across all areas of care. Therefore, the Assisted Living unit gets 1/4 of all the activities. Our mom has a LOT LOT LOT of time when there is nothing to do at all. As for nursing care, it's extremely discouraging. Most of the staff in assisted living are LPN's at best and between their lack of english skills and their limited medical knowledge, it's not the best situation. Dispensing medications is their strong suit, but if there's a wound or an injury, they are not competent. Unfortunately, our mother is now too frail to be moved or we would move her to Emeritus in Hillsborough which, although the food there isn't good, we've heard the care is much better.
