Our Mom's Experience

Colonial Oaks has provided a lovely environment for our mom who suffers from dementia. She moved in just as COVID was shutting everything down. During an extremely difficult transition in her life, made even more so by the Pandemic, we found the staff to be wonderful and caring. We chose this place because of the clean and overall pleasant atmosphere. There are so many windows that allow for natural light to brighten the hallways. A large fireplace is the centerpiece of the lobby with chairs for residents to relax/gather. The grounds are kept up beautifully. There are daily activities: Bingo, art, dog visits, exercises, music. The dining area offers a wide variety. When mom moved in, she was not eating well. The chef asked what was in the salad she liked from her favorite restaurant, so that he could make it for her. We are truly grateful for the care our mom has received at Colonial Oaks.... Read more

Our tour experience

Our family had an in person tour and the community is right down the street from us and we were so hoping that it was going to work out. The lady who gave the tour was wonderful, she did an amazing job. However on the tour we just did not see anybody, there were no residents out and about, it just did not look lively. The dining area was not very inviting, and they have pipes all exposed in the hallways from a water issue years ago and it still has not been fixed. They do have a really nice court yard area. This community has potential.

Tour of Colonial Oaks

We had a very nice tour with Colonial Oaks, but nothing really stood out to me. I know they just bought a facility out south and I am excited to see what they do with it.

Highly recommend

I toured 7 different places and we chose Colonial Oaks because this one was the best by far. The cleanliness of the facility and the staff friendliness really is what stuck out to us. The apartment sizes are wonderful. I would highly recommend them and already have to others.

We are very pleased

We continue to be very pleased with the level of care that Mom receives, as well as with the cleanliness of the facility and the friendliness and accessibility of the staff. Leawood Gardens is a great place to be when staying at home is no longer an option.

Leawood Gardens is Exceptional

Leawood Gardens is exceptional. My brothers and myself are thrilled with our mothers care. It is her home. From the front desk staff to activity staff. The culinary staff. The nursing staff. We could not have chosen a better place for our Mom. She is happy there. She has actually improved since living there. She is thriving. Thank you all at Leawood Gardens. We trust you. We love you. You are Amazing.

Leawood Gardens simply has the best people you will find

Leawood Gardens simply has the best people you will find caring for its residents. I brought my 83 yr old father with dementia there 7 months ago and he loves it. This place is more like a great apartment where he has friends caring for him... than a "home." My mother in law is in a more expensive assisted living facility only a few miles away and her experience has not been nearly as positive as mine with my father. If you are looking for peace of mind that comes with knowing your loved one is in the perfect place, nobody touches Leawood Gardens.

Review of Leawood Gardens

I was afraid of it being too isolating, as I didn't see any of the residents in the community. They seemed like nice people.

I like this place, but the tour guide person did not treat me in a professional manner--that is why this one got crossed off of my list. LOVE the rooms! BIG and huge walk in closets, every one has a patio, inner courtyard. The price is all inclusive, but there is a move in fee. They have good incentives to move in. Cable package is small and cannot be upgraded, if that is an issue for you or your loved one.
