Value for cost
We moved into a nice independent living unit in August 2021. Three weeks later, we decided to move out. Almost every employee does their best, but they cannot overcome lack of staff and general miscommunication between departments. Food is excellent on some days, but barely edible on other days. I cannot say anything about the housekeeping, because we never received any (despite repeated promises from management). Our requests for maintenance mostly went unanswered. The facility looks very nice, but looks can be deceiving. If you like to be disappointed, you will love it here.
nice event. Thank you lots of fun.
There are lot of different activities, covid just kind of changed how things worked with the activities. I feel like I can trust this community with my loved one. This is a very nice place and they go out of there way to help us. I trust them and that is the biggest thing and this is the biggest relief
[names removed] were knowledgeable professional sympathetic and fun.
Our loved was there when covid was just coming to an end so we were only able to see our loved one about once a week. We were able to see him eat a couple of meals and he never complained about the food. When you walk into the Clarendale community it looked like a country club, it was just beautiful. Towards then end of our loved ones stay he got to be to much for them and they pretty much told us he needed to leave immediately which we were not happy about.
From our understanding our loved one is happy with the meals, they sometimes do get repetitive. They still had activities going on during the pandemic, there was movie nights, exercises classes and thirsty Thursday's. We also were able to take our loved one out for their doctors appointments. The value for cost seems to be in line with everyone else, and we are very happy our loved one is there.
My grandma loves living here! I have never seen her happier!
The rooms are nice size. There is friendly staff. Lots of things to do to stay busy and engaged. Staff is friendly and willing to take care of our needs.
Our loved one seems to be enjoying the meals and dining services. We also love the court at the community, it is very updated and nice.
The community is great! Love the life enrichment program! Lots of fun crafts and activities.
I feel at home here. The staff is friendly and efficient. The whole place is well cared for!
Great place to call home!
The community has great activities for the residents to choose from to participate. This is the one to pick if you can afford the price. Everything in the community appears to be brand new. The staff is willing to assist in anyway possible. The internal medical team was made available for the independent living community due to COVID. The food is wonderful.
Food 1) Poor quality 2) Unhealthy 3) Meat tough and greasy 4) Very long waits in dining room
Residents who could not do house cleaning/keeping lived in filth. Dirty carpets, unchanged beds, dirty toilets, etc. Clarendale fairly new. I'd hate to see it 4 years from now. No security. Thrift rampant by employees I'm told.
The best. This place is clean and beautiful. They have many activities. Exercise, movies, crafts, beauty shop, good restaurants. The workers are like family. This our home and we love it here.
Lived in Lake County my entire life, from East Chicago to Hammond to Highland and Schererville finally. After 97 years I think Clarendale should be my last move. Married to my wife for 55 years and raised four great kids, all of whom are over 60 years old. I talk to them almost every day and hopefully I will be able to see them frequently soon. So far, I've enjoyed 35 years of retirement.
My husband and I have lived here for 2 years. It is just what we were looking for. The people who work here are great. They always have a smile for us. Our apartment is just the right size. The activities are plentiful - something for everyone. Through this Covid quarantine, they brought meals, snacks and activities right to our door, always with a smile in their eyes!
I feel that the people who run this community recognized the COVID-19 problem early on and took control and protected us. Everything is not perfect but I feel we have the best that is available. This is and has been the greatest group of people assembled. The staff cares about their families and the residents. I looked around before we came here and we made the right choice.
I am very happy at Clarendale. I moved here to make it my home. The staff is helpful when needed. We have a calendar each month full of events. I have met and made so many new friends. We live together, we play together, we care for each other. We have a great community.
