Brookdale Peoria - It is not to big so my mom is not over whelmed. Everyone is nice and caring, they take good care of my mom and keep me informed on how she is doing. They have art projects, shopping trips and go out to lunch every month or so. Christmas time they go looking at Christmas lights and decorate for all of the holidays. We do wish they could clean my moms room better, i have visited when my moms floor was dusty. My mom has my sister do her laundry because sometimes they come back wrinkly and or damp. The food needs improvement, they should have some healthier choices. Most importantly my mom likes it there because everyone is so nice and she has friends that she really likes that also live there.... Read more

Five on everything but the food. The food I would rate a three. The staff is wonderful. They are very attentive to the people that live there. They could improve on the food by providing better quality meat. They could also offer a better variety of veggies, not always the same veggies. I would definitely recommend Brookdale Peoria. They are a great bunch of people there.

It was a smaller community and they had assistant living and memory care. It was also a community that they have the doors locked at all times. I think all places are over priced!

I liked the community. The decision came down to how quickly the community was available and what the apartment layout was. My loved one and family felt the apartment at another community was better for our loved one.
We are moving our loved one out. They had her mediations so screwed up it was unbelievable. They were not giving her some medications and then overdosing her on others. It is frightening. I would absolutely not recommend this facility to others. The issue is the executive director. Her response to my question when I asked how do we make sure this does not happen again was this: "We are humans who make mistakes we cannot promise that it will not happen again." We took back over her medications because we do not trust them.

September 2, 2022Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. We will share your feedback with our management team.
This is a nice and cozy community but it it does have some issues. All in all I do think that it is a safe place for an elderly person. They have activities like walks, puzzles and more for the residents to do. It is a fairly small community and once a month they go out to eat lunch and sometimes they also go to the market. They do take people to appointments which is nice for my loved one.

May 6, 2022Thank you for taking the time to visit and provide feedback. We are committed to continuous quality service and care and will share your feedback with our management team.
The staff and their care services would be a 5 plus, they were excellent, very accommodating and very helpful. They gave the correct adequate care for our loved one including the hospice team that was brought in. Everyone made that transition a very easy and smooth process for our family.

My father is blind, deaf, frail and over 90. He has lived at Brookdale Peoria for several years now. Brookdale has been wonderful with his care. Very sensitive to his situation, needs and wants. I totally recommend this facility. Best place he has been in.

[Name removed] was very helpful. We did not choose this because the room configuration (no door on bedroom)was not what mom wanted. Lots of great amenities.

Nice place, but for the dollar amount you would think the rooms would be furnished. Over all not a bad place but just a little pricey for what it offers.

I am so thrilled with the care my uncle is receiving at Brookdale Peoria. [Names removed] lead a very caring staff of caregivers. The staff at Brookdale not only maintain a clean and welcoming facility, they offer genuine care and friendship to not only the residents, but their families. [Name removed] especially has made my uncle’s transition into assisted living, from living alone, extremely smooth. My family is forever grateful.

By far this is the best place, we are so happy with Brookdale Peoria. The reason it is above average, is the staff, truly dedicated and they work as a team making for a very comfortable environment.

very nursing home feel. very small apartments. Directive License(this could be the forever home, no reason to move if hospice is needed). Talked with residents-good things to say. one level. care givers in site. [Name removed] was great. bottom of list due to size of apartment and nursing home feel.

My daughter joined my sister and me for the tour at Brookdale Peoria. Pros: A small (50 residents), cozy community on one-level with a country cottage look and feel, indoors and out. Lots of natural light in the main, common areas Our contact, [Name removed] was knowledgeable, explained things clearly and knew many residents by name. The residents and staff that we did see and meet seemed happy and friendly. The care routine that was explained sounds excellent. The base price is respectable and getting a slight discount if the future resident worked at a large company was a nice surprise. Cons: The small one-bedroom was very small, and had a rather dark living area that was odd shaped. It had only one, small window in the bedroom. The 1x move in cost is high in comparison to others and medication management is a significant additional price ($550/mo.) in comparison to others. Bottom line: Even with the 7.5%/mo. Discount, with moving costs and high medication management fee, the averaged amount would be very similar to where mom is living now.

My husband has been here three years. All the staff has worked with me and it has been on numerous issues that I have had and address them immediately. Very clean in the community and rooms. Treats all residents equally and fair. I feel as if my husband gets good care.

A Place for Mom has scored Brookdale Peoria 8 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
