When I was looking for a place for my loved one as being assisted living, one of my criteria was to make sure they had a spend down. They did but then something occurred with my loved one and she was in and out of the ER. They told me they could no longer keep her and that she needed memory care and I agreed. I also picked them because they had memory care available. I found out that it was not a spend down though and I was never told that in the beginning. Then I had to go through the whole process again.

Response from Brookdale Arbor Place
August 4, 2022We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. The health and well-being of our residents is our top priority and we have shared your concerns with our management team for review.
They offer a great selection of activities for the residents, their activities board always has things posted on it. We have had some issues with the basic care needs with our loved one so we do think they could improve on their communication skills and internal organization.

It's a good group of people. The staff is very kind, which I think is an important and huge part of it. And management does a good job. If only the food wasn't so horrible. They say everything is from scratch, but that's not true. There's never any fresh vegetables, and never any fresh fruit, even though they tell you they provide it. The meat is unidentifiable, tough, and tastes terrible. They also give out lots of processed, sugary treats. From what I've seen, they haven't been cleaning my loved one's room as much as I would like. They also said they would accommodate for disabilities and have all kinds of activities for her, and they haven't. For what we pay, the food is pretty crummy, but the place itself is nice. They're good people, and the community is in a very pretty location with pretty views out the windows. There's a nice walking loop on the property. And they do a good job of keeping my loved one included in the daily walks. Also the director is a really nice guy. Overall it's been a positive experience.

The staff members are very attentive, and they offer a lot of services that are convenient for our family. The activities are opening back up so everyday it is getting better an better. Most of the time our loved one enjoys the meals they are serving. The grounds are just absolutely gorgeous, it is surrounding be grass and greenery tucked back into the partial wooded area. Our loved one has a perfect studio that is very spacious.

It seemed to us that the staff at Brookdale Arbor Place often rotated around the building, which meant there were always new people assisting my mother. At her previous community she had around 4-5 caregivers, but at Brookdale she had quite a bit more than that. The staff was always very friendly to her and to our family. The care was always great, however because of the high rotation, they weren't able to get to know her quite as well as at her previous community. My mother didn't often attend activities, partially because the staff wasn't as engaged with the residents encouraging them to be more involved. This meant participation at community events was often low. Brookdale Arbor Place is a large community with a lot of very friendly staff. This would be a great community for a senior who is more active and self-sufficient.

I toured this facility but the rooms are very small with no kitchen or any storage. Very poor layout. The food was acceptable but not the place was not for us.

Response from Brookdale Arbor Place
January 30, 2020Thank you for visiting and taking the time to share your thoughts about our community. Your feedback will be passed along for review with our management team.
My family is fairly new to the community and things may change over time, of course. That said, here's my overall perspective. PROS: Beautiful facility, well-organized activities, variety of activities, dedicated Executive Director, great apartment rooms with large bathroom entryways, offers Medicaid payments after three years CONS: So far, they haven't really lived up to everything they've promised. My dad isn't getting showered despite us paying for that service; the staff doesn't deliver messages to my dad and often they don't answer the phone when I call regardless of the time of day; the only outings I've seen so far are to stores so I'd like some variety; despite having a concierge to schedule doctor appointments, the appointments aren't being made nor canceled when requested...

Brookdale Arbor Place is the retirement place to be. It is in a wooded setting with lots of safe places to walk. Banks, drug stores, and many other business are with in walking distance. A large medical clinic is at the end of our parking lot. We have a spacious two bedroom apartment with a never tiring view. The staff is great with many feeling like family. They do our laundry, clean our apartment weekly and are always ready to attend to your personal and medical needs. They take you shopping,to the doctor and have a lot of daily activities 7 days a week. Three meals are prepared by a top chief, [name removed] and his team, the food is great. Check out Brookdale Arbor Place when the time come's to move. A Happy Resident.

Brookdale Arbor Place is a caring, comfortable place. The staff are great, the food is wonderful, and the many activities each day give me an opportunity to get out of my apartment and enjoy fellowship with others. The staff have always taken time to listen to me and help me with any needs or concerns. I would recommend this to any senior. Because there are several levels of care, I hope to be able to stay here as long as I live.

I did not get a good feel when I went in. The person I was to meet with was talking with someone in the lobby I told the receptionist I was there and she told me she would tell the person as soon as she was done talking. I waited a little over 10 min. for the women to finish talking. When she did I waited a few more minutes and then looked around for her when I did not see her I left. It seemed nice from the outside but did not like the overall feeling. The women did call and apologize but I do not feel like returning for a visit.

We love Brookdale Arbor Place. I have both my mom and dad there and am trying to get my father-in-law there too. The staff are friendly and all the residents seem happy as well. That is huge for us. The food is good, activities are inclusive and fun as well as appropriate for their clientele. They make it a fun community to live that truly cares about their needs. Christmas activities included a family prime rib dinner with entertainment, musical performances from the Boeing Band, happy hours, lots of decorations and cheer. Their services are al a cart so you only pay for what you need and it is prorated so you only pay for days you need or a monthly fee. Everything seems reasonable. The facility is clean and fresh, as well as warm and welcoming. Lovely fireplace room by the entrance and friendly front desk personnel who helps with scheduling doctor appts and transportation as well as welcome visitors and monitor the coming and going. They also have a library, media room, and multi-purpose room. I am looking forward to seeing the place in the spring with their gardens in the back. They don't have memory care but they have clients who have dementia but are not runners. Doors are not locked and you can come and go as you please. The location is great! Behind Fred Meyers in Mill Creek and close to medical facility but surrounded by trees so feels secluded and peaceful. Residents can enjoy the wildlife and changing colors of trees. The cost is a lot but it is comparable to other facilities but nicer. We checked out quite a few. This one is close to my home and really convenient.

We found this community and my Aunt loves it here. The grounds and inside stays nice and clean. The caregivers are nice and responsive to her needs. She is interested in going out on the bus they go to the grocery store and different excursions. She is still settling in. She loves having company during her meal times. I give them 4.5 stars Thanks for making my Aunt happy.

I have no complaints of how things went for my loved one and I during our tour of this community. The staff where on time to our appointment and made sure to answer any questions we had for them in detail. It was just not the right fit in the end decision for her.

The first thing I had noticed about this community since my mother-in-law has moved in is how friendly and helpful all the staff have been to her. They are always happy and very professional in there work. She has gotten settled in and is making new friends with the other residents. The only thing I would say could use some improvement is the meals they provide. They are generally good, but sometimes the quality is inconsistent.

Dad was only at this community for a short time. The staff tried their best to take care of him. They were slow to respond when he pressed his call button for assistance. There was miscommunications between the staff members in regard to his care. He did not feel they offered healthy food choices. I do not think they had a lot of activities and outings for residents that had an issue with getting out of a wheelchair. I think if he would have lived there longer things may have improved.

It has been a good experience but I will be returning to my home. The people at this community are not in my age group and it is just not my time, maybe, later on, it will be a better fit for me. The facility is very nice and maintained well, I would recommend it to anyone looking.
