We toured Brookdale Silver Lake during our search for a Memory Care facility for our loved one. This facility was good. It was set up well, they had a therapy dog, cooking activities, etc. The downfall was that they didn't have/offer excursions.

The facility bent over backwards to accommodate my loved ones needs. We weren't sure if she needed memory care or assisted and they prepped both facilities until we sorted it out. I'd say the staff is friendly. They're learning my loved ones name and preferences. I'm happy about that. I feel like the meds arrive a little late. My loved one is a little nervous to press the call button because they're short staffed. The aids sometimes come in sweaty and in a rush. I'd say the food in on par with institutional food. It's okay sometimes and sometimes it looks like mush. They offer two choices but their alternative is just a sandwich. We've been in places that have better alternatives. They provide a fair amount of activities but they don't have a separate space so everything is just in the dining room. It doesn't give them a feeling of movement I don't feel my loved one gets enough for the $9000 we're paying.

My loved one is always dirty and they let my loved one lay in bed all day and don't do much. They have taken or lost every single stitch of clothing that we sent. His closet and dresser were both full now they are empty. They scatter whenever I get there because I always confront them about it and nothing gets done. The residents don't have access to the rooms very often and same with visitors so not sure where they are all going. We got hospice involved and they got the meds straightened out at the moment. The other wing seems to be more active and have more going on.

Response from Brookdale Silver Lake
August 30, 2022We take your comments seriously and are committed to providing quality care and services to our residents. We would welcome an opportunity to discuss any concerns you may have and hope you will contact our management team to further discuss.
The staff here really care a lot about their residents. They take their work very seriously and make sure that the residents and their families are well taken care of. It feels like home and that's just what we wanted! The facilities are not always perfect but they are quick to clean things up and work on making it better. Overall I have been very pleased and would definitely recommend Brookdale Silver Lake.

I did like all the staff members here, everyone was nice and they returned phone calls and kept us informed always. They were very accommodating and always timely in answering emails. My dad was happy here and was more receptive and was not over medicated. I feel that he would probably still be alive if he would have stayed here at Brookdale Silver Lake. It is a pleasant facility and I would recommend them to others looking.

My husband has received good care at Brookdale Silver Lake. He has lived there since August 2020. The staff works hard to provide a clean and safe environment. They provide activities to keep the residents stimulated . These are difficult times during the Covid19 epidemic however the caregivers and management are working hard to maintain high standards for care.

My Dad has Vascular Dementia and my sister and I moved him into Brookdale Silver lake, thinking they would take good care of him. We were very wrong. It didn't take very long to realize that the staff is under paid, and not enough staff to take care of him. We found women's clothes belong to other residents hanging in his closet. His clothes, shoes, eye glasses, electric shaver, and other personal items would consistently go missing. His hardwood floor in his room was always sticky from urine and smelled of urine every time we visited weekly. We liked the some of the staff there, but there hands were tied because of the corporate office. It's about the bottom line with them, not the residents well being. Avoid this place, don't put your loved ones in this place. We moved our dad after 2 months, there are better places.

My husband is settling in here. The staff is helpful and caring. They try to engage him to join the daily activities. The housekeeping does the best they can do at keeping it clean. They get 3 meals a day which is mediocre. I would recommend this community.

My wife had a good respite stay at Brookdale. The staff are friendly and encouraging. They offer a lot of daily activities and the food is good. The community is kept clean. I would use this community again for a respite stay.

Very welcoming, warm environment and [Removed] was the best. Interviewed my about my mom kindly and clearly knew what she was talking about. We did decide on another community, though. North Creek Bonaventure is part of the corporate family that mom is in now, so transfer will be easier and a little less expensive.

My sole intention was to place my mom here for a short term respite care until she was strong enough to come home after discharge from rehab for a broken hip. I live out of town, and relied on the nurse from Brookdale to evaluate my Mom as to whether it would be a good fit for her. She should have been placed in assisted living, not nursing home care. There was no one she could have a conversation with, everyone was too far gone mentally. The staff was friendly. It just seemed that they were not used to dealing with someone who could make their own decisions.

I liked this community. We did not choose it because Mom's memory care needs weren't in the advanced stages yet. We felt she didn't need to be in a locked facility.

Well they could improve on communicating more with the family members because they don't do that well at all. I find out things that they have done with my mother after the fact, and most of it deals with her care and medications.

My loved one is doing pretty good, his disposition is improving. Clare Bridge does a pretty good job, and the residents all seem to be similar in care level. It's clean and the staff is friendly. It's a good place.

This place was wonderful! If it weren't memory care only we would have considered it because we are only a few minutes away from it. this probably would have been our third choice. They had a great staff, attentiveness and cleanliness.

IF we wanted only an memory care facility, not assisted living, we would strongly consider. A very professional staff.
