We did not have a good experience with my mother in law move to this community. We moved her in , and out within a week. They were not able to provide the level of care she needed. I would had liked for them to have been more upfront, and honest when assessing her. It was not the right for her, and it was not good experience for us.

Response from Brightview on New Canaan
August 23, 2017Thank you for providing your feedback. We do everything possible to help new residents feel welcome and comfortable in their new community. During our care assessment, we were not notified that your mother-in-law was afraid to be alone in her apartment. While one of the benefits of living in a Brightview Senior Living community is daily engagement and socialization with other residents and caregivers, Brightview residents also enjoy the privacy of living in their own apartment homes. After your mother-in-law moved into the community, we learned that she was afraid to be alone, so we recommended hiring a private aide to help her transition to community living and feel safe in her new home. After a week, we felt Brightview was not going to be a good fit for her and worked with your family to move your mother-in-law out of the community and refund 100% of your fees. Because moving to a new community is a big transition, we encourage potential residents and families to provide all information necessary for us to make an informed assessment as to whether Brightview can meet the needs of each resident.
We toured the Brightview on New Canaan. The staff was friendly and they answered all of our questions. The community was clean and well kept. It was not the right fit for my mom, we were looking for peers more in line with her mindset and physical agility

Response from Brightview on New Canaan
October 19, 2017Hi! Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about Brightview on New Canaan. We are delighted we accommodate both Mom and Dad. We are so proud of our exceptional associates!
Basically brand new and beautifully decorated. The staff and residents were warm, friendly and welcoming. The meals were delicious! Not a lot of "extra" charges so we don't expect any billing surprises. The location is near to my mother's home so she doesn't feel like she has to change everything in her life. She can still go to the same doctors etc. one thing to note is that they only provide transportation for doctor visits twice a week.

Response from Brightview on New Canaan
October 19, 2017Hello! Thank you for your positive feedback. Our fee structure is inclusive so there are no hidden costs or surprises. We do not nickel and dime families for this and that. We also have the best and most knowledgeable associates in the business!
Mom lives at this community. The staff and aides are nice and caring, the community is new and clean. The meals could use some improvements to be more age appropriate, softer foods, easier to bite and manage for a senior. They have daily exercise and nice activities that they keep her active with. Monthly entertainment on different floor with well residents, however the staff needs to make more of an effort to encourage residents to participate in entertainment on ground floor. We would overall recommend this community to other families for great environment, care and value. A little more communication and cheerful interactions from management would be appreciated.

Response from Brightview on New Canaan
October 24, 2017Hello RB! Thank you for sharing your positive review and feedback about Brightview on New Canaan. We appreciate your recommendation as it is helpful to others who are exploring senior living options.
We have been very happy with the choice we made to have Brightview be the place that would care for our mother with compassion, professionalism, responsiveness, and attention. From the Sales Director and Director and Health Director of the Wellspring Memory Care unit to the Receptionists, Activity Directors, RNs, Chef, and especially the care staff, we're confident our mother is receiving exceptional care. It is a relief to our family that she is safe, healthy, treated with kindness and professionalism, and adjusting to her new home. We visited six locations in Fairfield County and when reviewing all of the assisted living places, we felt Brightview's Memory Care unit (Wellspring) was exceptional. The building itself is beautiful; colors are soft and welcoming; and our mother's room is lovely, with large windows overlooking the atrium. The meals are nutritious, beautifully prepared, and give attention to my mother's needs. In the assisted living area, it feels like a restaurant - residents are given menus, served professionally. In the Wellspring/Memory Care unit, residents are presented with two prepared plates to choose from and if they don't want that, the chef will prepare another option (sandwich, soup, salad, other). We love that the residents are given choices, not only with meals but also with activities. No forcing of activities (which isn't a problem for our mother as she now participates in everything!). The activities cover spiritual (interactive music, Tai Chi, Spa time), physical (dance therapy, walking, tossing games, intellectual (brain games, puzzles, trivia), cultural (baking, art, in the news), and emotional (social hour, tea time, comedy, therapy dogs). Truly a wonderful program and "place for mom" all around.

Response from Brightview on New Canaan
October 19, 2017Hi! Thank you for sharing your positive feedback about Wellspring Village at Brightview on New Canaan. We believe Wellspring Village is the finest program and environment for people living with dementia. Our Corporate Director of Dementia Care, Dr. Patrick Doyle, brings an unsurpassed level of expertise to our communities. Your descriptions of the choices offered to residents is a cornerstone of how our communities are operated. Possibilities, Independence and Choice are the cornerstone of our philosophy, and we strive to create joy for residents and their families in everything we do.
Brightview is really lovely. The staff is friendly, the care is good, the facility is new and beautiful. The daily happy hour encourages socializing and the food is excellent. They make a point of encouraging residents to participate in activities and seat people together at meals. It's expensive, but largely because my mother wanted a one bedroom rather than a studio and because she needs a higher level of care. We're very happy she's there.

My mother would benefit from more intellectual stimulation. Courses by life time learners, understanding modern culture, bridge programs, etc.

After visiting many Assisted Living/Memory Care communities in Fairfield County, we chose Brightview on New Canaan and have never looked back. Aside from the beautiful premises, the staff is what makes this community so special. Our Mom is in Wellspring ~ Memory Care. The Director, Kathleen Lane works tirelessly, along with the wonderful staff to create a world of dignity, respect, love & endless activities. It has truly blown us away how wonderful the RA's (Resident Assistant's) are to all residents. The endless & creative activities that the activity staff offer everyday keep the residents engaged & entertained. Oh & by the way, the food is great too! We are so thankful that Brightview came to town!!!

My mom has been at Brightview for about a month now and although it has been a very hard transition for her (and us), the wonderful, caring and attentive staff at Brightview have made all the difference. No concern is too small, no phone call or email goes unanswered, no favor too big. The facility is bright, beautiful and immaculate. My mom has done more in the past few weeks than she had in independent living during the past 5 years. Her every need is being addressed and our family is kept apprised of her progress on a regular basis. I actually love visiting her there because it reinforces the fact that she is where she needs to be and is in great hands. We thank our lucky stars that she is there!!
