look behind the curtain

I would give the caregivers at Brighton Gardens of Omaha a 5, but the way the company manages and pays them would receive a 2. it is very high cost and they sneak things in to raise the price. when you actually sit down with the people who are responsible for translating care to dollar charges, they are not transparent. they say things like, "we don't make the decision as to what to charge. we are not in charge of the algorithm", they will blame it on the company. when you look up the company, you will see that it is under an influx of umbrella companies. once you get up the ladder of different companies, you'll learn that Brighton Garden is just one out of hundreds, all owned by a corporation of some sort. because of this, their first concern is not of the residents, it's the payback of stock holders who are involved in the REITs. the companies who own Brighton Garden are real estate management companies, not healthcare (provider) companies. it's a very pretty place, it looks like a luxury hotel. however, when it comes to the day to day care of your loved one, you can see where things are skipped, shortcut, or completely ignored in order to make a profit and pay their investors good dividends. as the POA of one of their residents, I've had to complain to management. they have a dining room area where residents can heat up coffee and take snacks. ultimately the meals are served in that room throughout the day on hot carts. during the first five months of my loved ones stay, the microwave was not working. the staff complained about it and they did nothing. when I spoke with management I threatened to take my complaint further, and a new microwave magically showed up. I've noticed other things like loose screws and the doors falling off the cupboards. when I am in town I spend everyday there with my loved one for multiple hours, so I am able to see much more than the typical visitor. I'm able to talk to management, observe the condition of the facility and I've had time to interact with the staff in a much more in-depth way. the people who provide the day to day care and the housekeepers are heroic. I know that my loved one can be challenging due to her age and health; but her room is always kept spotless and the housekeeper was always glad to do what needed to be done. she never complained either. she, unfortunately, had to leave the community because they were paying her minimum wage, and the job that she was doing was worth much more than that. the caregivers are great as well and do an excellent job. there is such a high turnover that no one there currently (that I've come in contact with) has been there for more than a year because of the pay. it's not the aides, nurses or caregivers; it's the people who manage them. I would advise other families to look for a company that does not have multiple layers of management. look for a privately owned community, not one owned as part of a conglomerate. a privately owned community will be a lot closer to its residents and will do a much better job at providing better care.... They have very good socialization opportunities. The staff did a great job getting her out of her room for the activities.

The staff are horrible and do not go with the wishes of the family and have been very difficult to deal with. They will not answer questions or provide me with any information. I would tell others that they will not provide the type of care that they say they will. If you have power of attorney or guardianship then good luck. The memory care is not locked down, they give anyone the key code to go in or out which is not safe. I would never recommend them to others.

What makes Brighton Gardens stand out is the heart of the people working there

The staff members and their care services are amazing that is what we like best about Brighton Gardens. Our loved one is really enjoying the meals and dining service. The activities at Brighton Gardens is what separate's this community from others, the activities director and her staff are phenomenal and have really changed our loved ones life.

Good Place to Go

As far as I know it is a good place if you need those services. Our experience was prior to COVID, and we were able to see our loved one.

Awesome!

The size of the rooms this community offered really stood out to us as well as the people there. It felt like home. We were able to eat some meals with our loved one before COVID and we thought they had a good menu, and the residents has different options to choose from.

Not so much for independent care, start adding charges and becomes one of the more expensive places I've been to.

This place wasour salavation!

My dad lives in the memory care community. I can not imagine going through the last 9 months without the caring ,compassionate and most of all educated people that provide care to my dad. He is in need of total care and he is always clean, and well taken care of. The team has met every challenge both medically and behaviorally that he has given them. Family is included in any and all decisions and we feel apart of that team. If he wants Cheetos in the middle of the night he gets Cheetos! They see him first and his disease second. Sure, its a nice clean facility, food is good, lots of activities but Brighton Gardens is sooo much more that. The support and caring they have shown not just my dad but the whole family is priceless. We could not have gotten better care for him.

It was a nice enough place, but the person giving me tour made it perfectly clear that I was not on their choice list, made even more clear with their followup email saying they could not work with me in breaking out the huge unexpected sign in costs into reasonable payments.

Staff is friendly and communicate with us very well

The staff members here are very warm, friendly, and concerned about my Mothers well-being. They take care of her really well and they communicate with us just fine. It is an older building but it is always picked up and clean. I really like that the dining room and the activities room are in close proximity. My mom has said the food is okay and it’s well balanced and nutritious. For activities, they offer things like exercise classes, get-togethers, and live entertainment. I would recommend this community to other families.

I have only toured this facility. But having direct experience with 3 other communities and having toured half a dozen others, I have never seen a staff present itself better. Everyone I met was smiling and engaged. Even the FedEx delivery guy. They have such a great attitude it is contagious. And most importantly, the residents also catch the attitude. All other aspects were there too in terms of services and amenities.

Amazing Place!!

My loved one has recently made the move into this community and I can't say enough great things about this community. My mother is busy with different things to do from the moment she wakes up to the moment she goes to bed. They have a lot of activities going on throughout the morning and often taken them on different outings during lunch time. I like that they also often hold events in the evenings for the family members to go and enjoy with there loved ones. I would highly recommend this place filled with great food, fun activities, and a great staff to anyone interested.

Happy residents!!

I have no complaints about the tour I had taken at this community for my loved one. The staff where on time to our appointment and made sure to answer any questions we had for them in detail. They where very professional and I like that I did not feel pressured throughout our visit. I was impressed to see the residents participating in some of the activities and enjoying there living environment. It was just not the right location for my aunt in the end decision.

[Removed] gave us a fantastic tour of Brighton Gardens of Omaha. My husband was really impressed! It seems to meet all of our needs. The only drawback is the cost. However, in this case, I am sure we would get what we paid for and more.

Still Adjusting, but Overall a Nice Community

So far everything is working out pretty for my husband with his move to this community. He is safe, and still adjusting with his move. This is a nice community, and they do a good job with the cleanliness. There are activities offered for the residents. Everything is moving in the right direction for us in this community.

A nice community.

My husband liked this community when he visited. The people he met were nice and the community seemed clean. This is in a nice neighborhood. This community just did not seem like the right fit for his mom.
