Overall nice community
What we like the most about this community is that our mom has met many new friends. So she will not get lonely. They invite her to dinner to movies and to exercise. Also anything she needed was supplied to her quickly. They take good care of care of their tenants. And are aware of their needs.

Why I love Aston Gardens.
I love it here! Thy offer activities such as; watercolor classes, a creative writing club, a Crossword Puzzle Club, Bible Study, Therapy Dogs, a Women's discussion group, A Book Club, Creative Writing Workshop, Water Aerobics, Balance exercises, and Aston Garden's Chorus. We have a bus available, and cars to take residents to banks, grocery stores , library and doctors appointments, to the performances at the Venice Performing Arts Center for Concerts, Symphonies and Performances., and to various church options. The bus also provides multiple opportunities for dining restaurant meals out, Casino trips twice a month, movies, and wonderful adventures that our Director of Celebration plans for us. We have a very talented chef who provides us with delicious meals, with multiple choices at lunch or dinner. As you can tell, there is no shortage in activities, and that doesn't list all the celebrations for every holiday, when the chef creates great special food and drink and we have special music available. We feel like we are on vacation all the time. The apartements have; Full kitchens, walk in showers, top of line countertops, washer and dryer in every unit, lovely screened lanais, carpets in bedrooms and flooring in living rooms, dining rooms, kitchen and hallways.

Tour experience
Aston gardens at Pelican Pointe is a lovely place. The lady who gave us the tour is great at what she does. She was patient and answered all of our questions. This was our second choice out of many places that we looked at. I just felt that it was a little bit more institutional compared to the facility that we went with.

Great Place to Be
They keep it nice and clean. The friendliness of the staff, and people brought us here. They have been very helpul. The food is good, and they are improving. Compared to other places, the value for the money is good. Overall, the efforts in recovering from the hurricane have been excellent.

I toured this facility. The independent living was much nicer than the assisted living side. However, the memory care unit was very small, only had twin beds, and smelled musty. Overall, I would not recommend.

Tour of Aston Gardens
We toured Aston Gardens at Pelican Pointe and upon arrival we found out that they forgot about us. The lady at the front desk had to tour us, and I felt bad because she had to find someone else to replace her. Because we were unexpected the tour was quick. The community felt very dark, there were only three residents out watching TV and the rest were in their room. They also let us know that while they have med techs there all the time, the nurse isn't. We chose another community because Aston Gardens wouldn't have been a good fit for my mom.

Highly Recommend, Beautiful Place
It's an absolutely beautiful place. My parents feel like they are at a resort. They were anxious about the move but they love it. They are very very happy. Housekeeping comes once a week. They have a washer and dryer in the unit. They have dances, parties, arts and crafts, field trips, shopping dates, movie nights to name a few activities my parents enjoy. Transportation is provided to residents for outings. Most outings are scheduled. The residents are friendly and welcoming. The staff are accommodating. My parents can put a ticket in to the front desk for something and those requests are handled pretty quickly. I couldn't be more pleased with where they are at.

Best independent living facility ever
This is a friendly, welcoming and active community for your loved one. They have activities like bingo, a walking club, a aqua class, a riding class, a painting class, they shuttle residents to the stores and more for the residents to do to stay busy. They even have entertainment come in on special occasions to make it fun for the residents and create a nice environment.

Our experience so far has been pretty good
They do not have enough help which I know is a problem at a lot of places. But everybody here is so friendly, residents and the staff members. The food is good, the only problem they are having is keeping the food warm. We would recommend them, we think it is a great value for the money. The rooms here are very large and definitely the biggest out of the places we checked out. They also have a ton of storage/closet space.

We looked around at quite a few places and this was the best place we could find. When my parents came and visited they fell in love with it and they are very happy here. Their apartment is very spacious, they have an end unit that is perfect for them. They really enjoy the food that is served. I would recommend to anyone looking.

The complex is very well maintained and the grounds are very attractive. The two downsides are (1) only one meal is served daily and the dining times vary weekly (2) they have trouble keeping housekeeping staff working weekly.

I would recommend
We chose Aston Gardens at the time because we liked that they had assisted living capabilities so down the road if she needs that, she will not have to move. Also they had availability right when we were needing it and gave us a good deal. My mom does say that she is not real keen on the food provided here. The apartment size that she has is perfect for what she needs. I would recommend to others looking and already have.

Only Ok
My mother has been a resident for several years. I visit weekly and my takeaway is as follows: 1. Very clean 2. Pretty, well kept grounds 3. Transportation service is minimal. 1 day a week to Publix right next door. Residents are only permitted two bags each. This is an absolute joke. It’s nice that the van runs back and forth on the one designated day, the reality is if they don’t feel good or have other plans they are out of luck for another week. Two bags? Really? 4. The food is horrible and I would love to know where Aston Gardens found Chef [name removed]. I’ve eaten there many times with my mother and it’s horrible. Maybe chef [name removed] is just doing the best he can with frozen prepared ingredients. 5. The security is a joke. My husband makes a game of calling the front desk when no one is at the gate, which is most of the time. He says he’s Jeffrey Damar, Ted Bundy etc..for a visit and the gate goes right up. ANYONE can get in with no question asked. The take away is, it’s a nice facility but the service itself is a joke. If I could I would move my mother somewhere else.

You're on your own in a hurricane
Here's the question to ask if you are entrusting them with your family; what do you do with these folks during a hurricane? From my current experience and complaints from 2 residents they are told to leave or sit on the 2nd floor in the hall, no chairs, no beds, no bathroom, no phones, electric and no food, not even PB&J sandwiches, chips and water, no services they promote , no staff, no medical. They will not use their buses to transport to the airport, hotels or emergency shelters. They tell your family they should be able to pick up and leave the state to get away from a hurricane. So the 24/7 care, medical, security, meals is only for good weather. Given the cost there should be a refund of days away, refund for living at another rental and food. But the good news is they will give you a piece of paper so you can try and make your way to a shelter with the reminder to bring a blanket and to take cash with you. Clean up this place, take care of these folks that pay a lot of money and do what you promote. BTW. The food is no better than cheap cafeteria food.

Growing old gets better at Aston
My wife and I love Aston Gardens and have called it home for five years. The staff is so kind and professional taking care of us both as we age with different needs. Chef Brad is wonderful and his food is delicious. Not only is dining our favorite thing, we often invite guests to join us that rave about the service and food. Everything I need is taken care of for me each day. I could not be happier and more content with my life. Thank you Aston Gardens for giving me piece of mind and a place to grow old in.

Don't let the glamor fool you.
If you are active, healthy, socially involved, and want to be close to a vibrant community, this is NOT the place for you. They do a great job selling you in the place, will helps you move in, decorate, buy you flowers, and that is it. The dining plan (required) is mediocre at best, the sense of community is nil. The place looks abandoned, like a ghost town, 24/7. Don't be fooled. Save you $3-5000 a month, and buy a condo, or find a more engaged and active place to live, closer to Venice, Naples, Sarasota.
