Friendly staff. Beautiful accommodations. Been a turnover of staff lately that has been upsetting to my mother in law. Staff is very friendly, though. Lots of activities as long as there isn't an outbreak of Covid. And when there is an outbreak of Covid they take it very seriously which as a family member I greatly appreciate. No housekeeping. There is a woman in the building that does it on the side but that has been on and off. My mother in law really likes her, but she doesn't show up all the time.... Read more

Fabulous. Great, brand new facilities. Felt much more like a hotel/resort than an old folks home which we thought would be more appealing to loved one's husband since he was more appropriate for independent living than assisted living. Good level of activities and community available. Not overwhelmingly large. Particularly loved that in addition to typical levels of care available, also have some quasi-hospital suites next to nurse's station for when things get more serious or loved one needs highest level of care. Didn't love that it is in a congested area near high-rises/highways but that made it sooooooo convenient to our house and we as adult children could have been dramatically more helpful. Alas, could not convince them to leave Iowa, even for a couple of respite months.
I would tell others that it's a beautiful place and nearly everyone is friendly. But it costs more than other places in the area. Not sure why.

Response from Amira Choice of Bloomington
March 16, 2023Hello, thank you for taking the time to leave feedback and your kind words about our community. I can appreciate concerns surrounding when staff leaves, such as our nursing director's recent departure, but we respect that she had other endeavors she wished to pursue. We are looking forward to the arrival of our next nursing director, who myself and Alees, the executive director, both worked with previously. I assure you that she'll be a fantastic addition to our team! As for housekeeping, we do have our own, who predominantly assist our assisted living residents as part of a base package. Still, if your mother-in-law is Independent Living, she could still contract them for an additional fee. If you have any questions about that, or anything else, please don't hesitate to call me directly at (612) 222-3954.
Beautiful place and many employees are excellent but the leasing agent said whatever he thought we wanted to hear and even outright lied at times to get the sale. Just 10 WEEKS after we moved our dad in, they increased his rent 6%. They only offer month to month leases so with a month's notice, rent can go up anytime.

Response from Amira Choice of Bloomington
March 1, 2023Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. I am sorry you felt you had a negative experience with me and that your father's rent was increased shortly after moving in. We at Amira Choice want to assure you that honesty and transparency are values we hold in high regard, and we apologize for any miscommunication or misinformation that may have been provided during the leasing process. We have reached out to you several times to address your concerns, but unfortunately, we have not heard back from you or had the opportunity to have a conversation about how we can make things right. We understand that finding a safe and comfortable home for your loved ones is of utmost importance, and we would like to work with you to address your concerns and make any necessary improvements. Regarding the rent increase, we understand that it can be frustrating when unexpected expenses arise. However, we strive to provide high-quality services and amenities to all of our residents, and occasional rent adjustments are necessary to maintain and improve our community. We would like to invite you to speak with our management team to discuss your concerns further and to work towards a resolution. We value your feedback and want to ensure that all of our residents feel heard and supported. Thank you again for your feedback, and we hope to have the opportunity to address your concerns and regain your trust in the future.
They are doing well with the food and activites. They could do better with, communicating the billing procedures, and the leasing process. The administration staff is terrible.

Overall, my mother-in-law has been happy with the facility/care. But like any place, some staff members are better than others in her opinion. I think there's sometimes limited space for activities. Also, sending emails/newsletters about upcoming family events would be nice. Maybe that's already done and we just haven't seen it.

The best part about Amira Choice of Bloomington is the people and the atmosphere. The apartment sizes are adequate for my needs. I feel made a good choice as I visited 5 different places while looking for the best fit.

Beautiful place. Nice common areas and nice units with a variety of floor plans. Food is good with a nice variety. Assisted living plan is pretty much a farce. Weeks go by without anyone coming in to clean or do laundry. Daily nurse visits, what's that? The place is woefully understaffed. If you want a nice place to stay and not cook it's probably a good choice. If you need someone to come help you with something, I'd look elsewhere.

From the initial tour, then working with the marketing/sales staff, through the move-in and continuing today, our experience at Amira Choice has been nothing but wonderful! Our family member is well cared for and respected by staff, the food is excellent, and there are many activities that residents can choose to participate in. We are very happy with our (difficult) choice to make regarding placement in memory care but we are so pleased our family member is living here!

Our loved one really likes the apartment she has for what it is - it is upscale, clean, spacious and new which is actually what drew us to the community. However our loved one is needed and paying for certain services and unfortunately she is not getting them, so they could work more on bettering their follow through process.

A Place for Mom has scored Amira Choice of Bloomington 7.8 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
