This community has good services and my parents are being taken care of well at this community. Due to covid they only have meals that are not in the dinning room that are delivered to the room. This is not very satisfying to people who would like to be outside of the room. They have a lot of activities but my parents do not have the initiative to go to them and there is no encouragement for them to go. It is up to them to make it to the activities and they never go so I feel like there could be more encouragement for the activities.... Read more

Our tour at The Commons On Marice was good. It was a beautiful facility. And the woman we worked with there was super nice.
This is an easy review for me. Top-notch! Such a caring staff. [name removed] Took care of mom. She was a God send for us. Plenty of activity’s for the residents, Happy hour, malt Monday, Bingo, and a bus to take the residents out and about. I would make the same decision again. Pastor [name removed] is a great guy too. Thanks to all at The Commons who were so kind to mom.. Much Respect.
Everything we saw from The Commons on Marice looked good. They had plenty of visitor parking and it is very easy to get to. We actually considered them, but thought another facility we saw might be a better fit and that was not the case.

We chose The Commons on Marice because of the convenient location to where we live, the cleanliness of the facility, and the staff were so welcoming. It was just a cultural fit for my mother in law, it is very warm and comforting. The apartment sizes here are very nice. They have nice common space. Atriums, multiple outdoor spaces, a library, etc. She absolutely loves the activities here and the food has really improved since the dining room has opened. I would recommend to others looking.

September 28, 2021Hello, We are thrilled to hear your mother-in law and family enjoy The Commons on Marice. Thank you for taking the time to write a review. Have a nice day.
I found The Commons on Marice to be very pleasant, and clearly much more high-end than other places we viewed. Their tour had a much more professional feel to it. The community felt not impersonal, just maybe more detached simply because the scale was larger. In the end, it was more high-end than would have made my loved one comfortable. But it was a lovely place, and they did a very professional job.

October 6, 2021Hello, We are happy to hear you enjoyed your tour of The Commons on Marice. Thank you for your feedback and kind words. Have a nice day.
The community is doing a good trying to keep the residence active. They have been very accommodating and the communication has been very good during the pandemic I would recommend the community to others.

August 12, 2021Thank you for your kind words. We appreciate your feedback and are grateful for your continued support. Have a nice day.
The staff members at the community are very friendly, they were extremely helpful at getting our loved one into their facility in the most comfortable way possible.
At the very beginning of our experience it was wonderful, they were very helpful in getting my mom in here, but it did decline due to covid. I do think they were trying the best that they could, but they did not try hard enough to keep the virus out, staff did bring covid inside of the facility. In less than 10 days after my mom was able to go out inside the common areas, she had contracted covid. They did let us inside to see her at the end of life.
We chose The Commons on Marice because it was a very clean and friendly atmosphere. They also accept medicaid should my mom run out of money. The room sizes here are quite large compared to others that we looked into. For the most part the food is very good, they are chef prepared meals off of menus. I would tell others that it is a very safe and comfortable place for residents. I would recommend.
The communication is lacking with regards to medical changes with residents. A major medical change needs to be communicated to family members. A POA is not a guardian and does not have a say in who calls or visits a resident, A completed disregard for family members dealing with end of life situations. Greatly disappointed.
The most difficult thing is that the staff never knew anything about my dad or his care. My dad was in memory care. The staff was different every day and there was no continuity. Communication was not good. No one knew anything about how my dad was doing when we would ask. The staff was nice and friendly. It is a big building and the staff was moved around a lot.
We had looked at senior living possibilities when moving back to the TC from North Carolina to be closer to family over five years ago. We toured several but felt we were not ready and chose a Coop. My wife's passing brought a need for a "Place for Dad". Several visits suggested by "A Place for Mom" brought The Commons to the front. Fortunately, there was a facancy that suited my needs. I have been a resident here since [name removed]. Coming to The Commons was the best. This place has more character than any other senior living facility - location, facility, staff,. I couldn't be happier, only wish that we had chosen The Commons when we moved here - would have been a great place for us as a couple. Lots to do, you are your own scheduler- participate - join in - good food - a beautiful place - lovely public areas. If you have to be someplace with senior living facilities, THIS IS THE PLACE TO BE!!
[Name removed] and staff were very pleasant. Grounds are lovely. The apartments could use some updating, but it is my understanding they have future plans to do so.
My mom lived there for some time AND loved it. Family did too. Friendly, and nice looking I wondered if I’d be able to afford it

I have eaten at the Commons on Maurice numerous times over the past few years. Breakfast is very good, lunch is adequate but the quality of the food at dinner has been deteriorating to the point that it is not worthy of the expensive monthly rent paid by residents. There are three entree choices each night for dinner with lots of chicken offered, some pork, fish, hot dogs, cheeseburgers. The overall quality is not good and frankly, offering hot dogs and cheeseburgers for dinner is not acceptable. Most, if not all food is frozen/prepared and not made from scratch. Obviously, there is not a chef onsite. The residents frequently voice their concerns about the food to the Management team. Their answer is always the same-- that there are three options offered on the dinner menu. Well, if none of the options are very good there is nothing to choose. Instead of addressing the quality concerns, they placate the residents and do nothing to improve the food. I don't blame the onsite Kitchen Manager, I am sure the corporation has made an unrealistic food budget for him/her to follow. I would hope the management will make an attempt to improve the quality of the food.

This community is beautiful. The employees are friendly and knowledgeable. Its a big building but residents are out and about and willing to point you in the right direction. My mom's biggest concern was meeting people. I have no worries she will find friends here, everyone is so kind and wanting to make friendships. They have lots to do for the residents and their families! The common areas are well kept and building is clean. I'm very impressed! I only toured a couple weekends ago and was so pleased. My tour guide was friendly and down to earth, you can tell she really cares and wants the best living situation for your loved one. I was highly impressed all around. I'd definitely suggest taking a tour and moving your loved ones here!!! They even offer temporary occupancy!! Don't knock it until you try it. - [name removed]
This place in my opinion sucks, They have high turnover there and dont seem to care about anything but the money. My dad lived there for 2 years. Ive tried to complain and was told by a staff member there that they didnt care. The goodman group is the management company that rins this place.I tried to go to the ceo [name removed] of the goodman group and he never returned my calls. We spent over 150k there.. I have taken my dad to another place now and he is very happy. I would given it 0 stars if there was an option too.
I toured this facility while looking for a place for my mother. It is a nice-looking, clean facility but a little more expensive than other places. The person who showed us around was friendly and seemed knowledgeable. I ultimately decided to select a facility that was closer to me. If you tour here, ask lots of questions about the actual workings behind the facade.
