January 25, 2023Mark, thank you for your 5-star review of our community! We appreciate your feedback.
The meals are definitely insufficient and not healthy, especially for senior citizens. They are very low quality. However, everything else seems to be pretty well done. The apartment was very nice and well maintained. And the staff were very accommodating and pleasant.

Our family had an in person tour and it was a nice community but the tour guide just seem unprepared and really did not have anything ready for us when we arrived

Since it was during the pandemoc, I had a virtual tour. It seemed like a newer facility, and was very nice but the location was too far.

My mom said they got a new director recently so maybe changes will be coming. They do offer on site physical therapy here. She says that the food is not so great. Covid put a stop to a lot of the activities that they had going on, but it does seem to be getting better.

August 29, 2022Thank you for your 5-star review of our community! We appreciate your feedback.
There were no qualifying questions by the community. In the few minutes they told me what they couldn't do, instead of what they could. The assisted living area was smaller in the common areas. The fees were too much for us.

Poor management My family members live at the American House in Plainfield and it is really bad. No kitchen help or housekeeping. Suppose to have 2 meals in dining room every day What a joke! Had been eating out of Styrofoam for months due to no kitchen help! The kitchen people quit all the time! Front office has to work in kitchen.. 2 chefs have quit suppose to have rooms cleaned twice a month What a joke lucky if the rooms get cleaned once a month! Biggest problem raised rent during COVID when receiving no benefits and eating out of Styrofoam delivered to rooms everyday due to no help! Very little a activities. Then raised rent 6% for new year and have not received any benefits for a year! So where did the money go for the year of not paying any kitchen or housekeeping help! If you care and love your loved ones do not move into American House! Tgry will rip your love ones off! all they worry about is charging money for help when loved ones need it

My family has been at American House in Plainfield 2 1/2 years Started great and went down hill! No kitchen & housekeeping help til recently! Front office had to help in dining room! Increased rent during COVID and now Increased rent 6% for this year! For what! They haven’t paid help for over a year! So where is the money going! Definitely not to help these senior residents! Have raised concerns to upper management and nothing is done! Don’t come here because upper management does not care! Don’t go to American House These seniors are being ripped off and taken advantage of! Nice people that live there! Front office staff is wonderful! But that is it! Something has to be done! Do not not recommend any American House properties Over priced and seniors do not get what they paid for! Very little activities! Very disappointed!! Do not come here!

I would recommend the community to others for their loved ones. They have a variety of different sizes of rooms, the cleanliness, and staff stand out to me. The staff are very helpful if I have questions or concerns about my loved one. Overall my loved one has been satisfied with the food. The community has activities available for the residents to partake in if they choose to.

November 30, 2021Thank you for your 5-star review of our community! We appreciate your feedback!
The front desk lady is rude. The manager was out for an extended period of time, so nobody knew what they were doing, and there was no direction. There was never an expected date that they would open back up after Covid, even after vaccinations. On the assisted living side, people were still getting Covid even after vaccinations, and they wouldn't shut the doors between assisted living and independent living. So my mom, on the independent side, was still on lockdown longer than she should have been. One of the residents' son died from Covid, and they wouldn't let her daughter go to her apartment to tell her. They made her daughter tell her in the lobby, and that's just heartless.

Our family had an in person tour set up but once the doctor advised our loved one needed memory care we did not tour this community because it was only assisted living and independent living. However the people spoke with were very lovely, and very forth coming. We felt if we had any questions even if we weren't moving our loved in, that they would be very helpful and accommodating.

We chose American House Cedarlake because they were more cooperative at the front end trying to help set things up for us and they seemed to know what they were doing. The room sizes here were very nice and spacious. They were above average with their communication and I would recommend them.

May 26, 2021Tom, thank you for the 5-star review of our community! We really appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback and being so open with us.
I like the pricing of American House. They have the most bountiful supply of food out of any independent living place I have seen. They also have a very high population of men for independent living. Two things that really turn me off about American House is they do not have wi-fi throughout the building including resident rooms. They also do not have central air. There is not a lot of perks, but the cost of the place also reflects that.

May 26, 2021We appreciate your feedback and encourage you to elaborate on your experience with us. Please feel free to call our Home Office. We look forward to hearing from you.
We chose American House Cedarlake for the location. The apartment sizes here are wonderful which was also a great selling point. He is in a 2 bedroom 2 bath and it is a very open floor plan. He can come and go as he pleases, but they are unable to mingle with other residents in the facility. I would recommend to others looking.
