About the community

Just a short ride north of Chicago, on 20 beautifully manicured acres in suburban Lincolnshire, is a one-of-a-kind skilled nursing residence renowned the world over. Owned and operated by a single family with over 80 years devoted to skilled nursing, The Wealshire is built and staffed from the ground up to provide the most professional, progressive and individualized care in an unequalled atmosphere of comfort.

The Wealshire pioneered the concept of ”homestyle living” where residents live in luxury units surrounding a large “hub” that is appointed with fixtures, furniture and casual spaces that look and feel like a magnificent private home. Short-term, long-term and assisted living residents are continually surrounded by sights and sounds that evoke feelings of security, comfort and well-being not found in facilities with institutional settings.

Residents also enjoy The Wealshire’s complete continuum of care. This means that residents will not have to move to another skilled care facility as their requirements for medical attention change in the future. On-staff medical experts, therapists and healthcare professionals are continually trained and updated in the latest techniques and care programs. The Wealshire now offers rehabilitation in the newly designed Rehabilitation Pavilion. The Rehabilitation Pavilion makes short-term stays as...

A Quiet, Clean, Supportive Place

My greatest regret about Wellshire is that we didn’t find it sooner. If my mother had been able to start her assisted living years in the arms of Wellshire, I believe that she would still be the bright active person who entered assisted living six years ago. Instead she was at a facility that cared only for their convenience and the speedy payment of her bill. This is not the case at Wellshire. Last week we celebrated her birthday at the beautiful Bellagio Room at Wellshire. First of all, the Bellagio Room is gorgeous. My large family (45 people) easily fit in. They were able to move around, eat and chat. The extra chairs that [name removed] cheerfully provided were perfect to facilitate conversation. [Name removed], the chef at Wellshire, did a splendid job catering the event. His fruit and vegetable trays were gorgeous and the chicken casserole he prepared was wonderful. Everyone commented on how delicious and beautiful the food was. Although I didn’t expect it, I appreciated that [name removed] stayed through the entire event, replenishing the trays and cleaning up. After the party was over, he helped me get the leftovers into my car. I believe [name removed] went above and beyond for me in this instance. [Name removed], the director at Wellshire, suggested [name removed]'s catering. It was a great idea. Everyone in my family was impressed by Wellshire. They kept telling me how kind and helpful the staff was to them. My cousin from Indianapolis is on the volunteer boards of a number of places where he lives and he said he had never seen any place as beautiful, clean and efficiently run as Wellshire. [Name removed], the director, was marvelous. I so appreciated the easel he provided. It made viewing the poster of my mother’s life so much easier for everyone. In the process of planning and preparing for the party, I got too nervous and called him frequently. He was so patient with me and all of his suggestions were excellent. It was especially nice that [name removed], the head nurse, stopped by the party. I believe it demonstrated Wellshire’s sincere care and concern for my mother beyond that of a routine patient. From the bottom of my heart I am honestly grateful, [Name removed], daughter of [name removed]
