Occupants may be kept under supervision and assessment. Under certain circumstances, communities may offer respite, dementia care, or nursing care. The Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division supervises this community type. Staff members receive education in a number of areas. These include: knowledge of community services and resources, housekeeping and sanitation procedures, skills and knowledge required to provide necessary resident care, and knowledge required to safely assist with prescribed medications. This community type has a number of provisions pertaining to medication assistance. These provisions include assistance with self-administration of medications and medication administration. There must be one bath or shower for every 1 residents and one toilet for every 1 residents. This type of community is required to have a staff member on duty 24 hours a day. This community has a number of provisions concerning food and diet which include meals must comply with residents’ dietary preference, meals must comply with diet prescribed by physicians, communities must provide at least three meals per day and snacks, and the total daily diet must meet the recommended dietary allowances of the National Academy of Sciences Food and Nutrition Board. Public assistance is available through The state’s Medicaid 1915(c) Assisted Living Waiver program.
