We chose Sunrise of Monterey because I liked the proximity to her old home as well as her doctors offices and when I walked in it had a very warm, homey feel to it. The room sizes are pretty good, my mom has a studio and it has a view of the park and the pine trees. Some rooms have a view of the bay as well. It has a very roomy bathroom and roomy shower. Nice place to live if you don't want to cook regularly and need some help with cleaning and laundry as well as meeting people in the similar age group. My husband stayed there for only over a month, while I stayed for two months. He needed to get some special treatment for his back pain, therefore he moved into another facility. The manager of Merrill Gardens understood his situation and waved an additional person's monthly fee, which we appreciated it very much.
