It's easy to speak to administration. House keeping tries very hard. I've found the night crew unresponsive to the alert the residents wear. There are a lot of flies in the cafeteria.

Experience at The Gardens

Most of the staff are friendly however it's sometimes takes some of the staff a long time to get to the residents who need help. When I complained about this, one of the staff members was really nasty to my loved one about it. Communication with families is okay when it comes to medical and health concerns. The moving process was okay, however they failed to let me know that my loved one would have to pay a prorated amount for the last week of the month that they moved in. Had they disclosed that, we would have waited until the 1st of the month to move our loved one in. Unfortunately, I would not recommend the facility as my loved one is trying to get out of there as soon as possible because the expenses are just astronomical compared to their monthly income. As for the food, my loved one doesn't complain about it, I think my loved one likes most of it. It should also be noted that they will have you change your healthcare to Medicare instead of being able to keep whatever insurance you have. My loved one's out of pocket expenses exceed what is affordable, so my loved one had to stop taking some of their medications. At almost $400 a month for medications, my loved one doesn't even have $100 left over at the end of the month after bills are paid, to pay for anything else. With my loved one's regular insurance, the out of pocket cost was only around $30 a month for medications, so that is very important for potential families to know as well.

Look Somewhere Else

I would not recommend this facility. My father was here for almost a year before I had to move him to another facility. I could never find someone to help me because they were always short staffed and if they weren't short staffed, the girls were all hanging out in the nurses station in the morning. It seemed like every month there were a new set of girls that didn't know how to take care of my father. The nursing office manager is very rude and unprofessional. My father's room had roaches and he never even ate in there. Either he ate in the dining room or when I took him out to the barber. Often he wouldn't be given his meds because when the pharmacy would call to tell me it was time to get his new bottle, I'd bring it to the facility and his last thirty days of pills would still be over half full. So when my father had angry episodes they would suggest putting him on new meds. Why when he's not getting the ones he's already on? I would not recommend this facility at all.

HORRIBLE

This place continues to get worse. Saw a patient walking around in pampers while soiled. I have a family member there who recently LOST the tip of her FINGER when a door slammed after showering with a staff member present. On too many occasions they were short handed and patients neglected like my family member who was left in bed till noon soiled due to staffing issues. HIGH TURNOVER of staff. The new Executive Director was forced to come in on Sunday due to staff shortages. +2

Watch your loved one like a hawk

It all sounded and looked great when we checked out this place for my Mom. It started right away with them not getting my Moms meds and eye drops right. We had a web cam so we could watch everything, and good thing we did. I would watch at night and the roaches would walk in front of the camera. We went in to clean and moved a nightstand and I never saw so many. When covid hit it was a nightmare no one cared about doing what they were supposed to do, wearing gloves or mask. We reported it several times with no avail. My Mom was blind and I could no longer go in and help her. They would bring her meals in and just set them on the table and she would go without eating many times. I will never forgive myself for not getting her out of there sooner before it was too late. I pray the new owners change things before they really hurt someone someday.

Alzheimer patients need a voice

Let me revise my initial review...my mother developed a huge bed sore at this facility....I am floored by the fact that people with Alzheimer’s are treated with such neglect because they can’t tell anyone..because no one will listen...three assisted living facilities and a final nursing home which I will be reviewing next...

VERY BAD PLACE

Do not put your parents or grandparents in this facility. First of the place is dirty not sanitized [removed] The workers have attitude problems when confronted about certain things. Also they sleep instead of being up watching the ones that are up wondering. You tell head nurse about the workers lack of attention to the residents and still has not done a thing about it VERY BAD PLACE DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE AT ALL!!!!
