History and Charm and Care

I loved the old stone exterior. It looks like a castle. Living apartments are upgraded with new kitchens. They provide the level of progressive care I will need going forward. The library is beautiful!

It's Not How Your Start, It's How You Finish

I can't recommend the community due to the way we exited the community. We had multiple attempts to reconcile a balance due and it was never resolved and we never heard back on a resolution to this.

Our Tour Experience

We had a very nice virtual tour, and my impression was that it was a very nice place. Ultimately, my loved one's funds are limited, so it was little bit expensive. We found some really great incentives at a different community. But Simpson Meadows had plenty of amenities, and the woman who led our virtual tour was very nice. This is no reflection on how they executed the virtual tour, but I’m just a hands-on person and like to see things in person rather than looking at a computer screen.

Glad we chose Cornerstone at Simpson House

We moved from Center City Phila. 3 years ago and we made a good choice: spacious 2 bedroom 2 baths apartment, large living room, and balcony overlooking Fairmont Park. Important to me is the easy access to Center City via public tranportation or company Van. Neigbors have shared similar expriences (selling homes, moving, having new "neighbors," adjusting to communal living and dining). as well as March lockdown re Covid 19 have brought us all closer together. Staff and Management take excellent care of us, especially re Covid: facilities sanitized often; group activities & visitors cancelled; vaccinations (both shots) provided here! Available health care onsite and maybe our lessening ability to care for ourselves will make this move to Simpson House (Cornerstone bldg.) the absolutely right one for the [name removed].

Historic and Caring Home

I needed a safe place for my loved one. They are very caring and conscience of the residents on the memory care floor. There are plenty of activities. The community has a gym, dining room, and the community is near a park. The community provides great activities for memory care residents.

Met with [Removed]. She answered my questions and we toured the facility. While the building looks like it is going through some needed upgrades and is certainly accommodating enough, I just didn't get the feeling that this would be the best fit for my Mom.

My parents toured this buy-in facility and promptly placed a deposit. Unfortunately, there is a wait list of 6 - 12 months which may prove to be too lengthy for my parents at this time. Their monthly fees were relatively modest but did not include certain mandatory requirements such a weekly linen service which is, however, availabe for addditional cost.

Very nice place!!

I have no complaints about the tour I had taken of this community. The staff where wonderful to work with and had a lot of great information to offer me as well as answer any questions. The apartments they had available where spacious and well kept. It was just not the right fit for me in the end decision.

We Enjoyed The Tour

We got a great experience here. It is a very, very nice place and it is clean. I noticed the residents are in their late 80's to 90's. This was for a mature crowd but my dad is more independent. Overall, it was great and I actually would consider them but this is not the right fit for my dad's care.

Very nice place

I have had experience in the past with this community, and I think they do a very good job overall. It was a nice looking. well kept facility, and they did an excellent job looking after my loved one. Definitely somewhere I would recommend being worth a look for families searching for care in the area.

Corporation run around

Warning.. lack of communication, unanswered phone calls, missing messages and ring around the rosie responsible pushing game is what this company is all about. I wouldn't board my dog here let alone a lived one for that reason. My mother had wonderful nurses and was fed well but the higher ups are severely lacking in communication. They fall all over you until you sign the paperwork and then...poof, they disappear!

My review of SImpson House

We chose Simpson House because it is the one my mothers liked. It was closest to where she had been living and she wanted to stay in the main general area. The apartment sizes here are not bad, she has a small apartment with a separate bedroom and she likes that. The staff is very friendly, but they are not always very responsive. We could not physically help her move in and it took 8 months for them to get her internet working despite us calling them. When she first moved in she had to quarantine for 2 weeks and they sometimes forgot to bring her her meals. But overall I would recommend to others looking, my mom is happy here.

Almost Awesome

Pretty landscaping. Park style setting and grand architecture make a stunning first impression. Under the beauty there are serious issues with safety and security both in house and throughout the outside property. Lights, cameras and 21st century security systems and procedures throughout would be helpful. Major emphasis is placed on a new building that is in process of being constructed. Lots of very nice residents. Lots of positives , room for improvement as well.

Hoped for More

Our loved one was a patient for a short term rehab stay and while there were a few wonderful nurses who were very caring, we found most of the CNA's to be either inattentive or unprofessional. They had many alarms and chair "clips" to supposedly keep patients safe, but our loved one had four falls within one week . It is a clean facility and my MIL's room was nice and big and bright. The building attached to it where long term residents live ,was beautiful and appealing, but the health care center was rather bland and depressing. Therapy seems to be done in small "circles" or groups [removed]. I think this could be a decent facility with more oversight, thought and care put into it. My loved one was afraid we would send her back there and reported to the hospital staff that she was generally uncomfortable and afraid there. They helped us in making sure she did not have to return.

Not good very moderate to severe dementias, especially any level of perceived aggressive behaviors.

They were not equipped in staff (training/numbers) to handle any irregular or episodic aggressive behaviors associated with Alzheimer's Dementia, even in the memory care wing. They were too quick to take my mom out personal care and migrate her into skilled care after 1 1/2 days of her move in, which, I thought was way too soon. If I would have known that there threshold to these sporadic behaviors was this thin, I would have never put my mom here in the first place. The activities were good, well run and regular and the overall nursing staff was friendly, but they clearly are only tolerant of very narrow niched behaviors associated with any of the dementias.
