We had a good tour with Oak Park Place and almost went here. We hired an agency to look into facilities and they told us they were having major staffing issues here at the time.

Comfortable, Safe Place

I think there is a range of caregivers from the very good to the mediocre. And that's to be expected anywhere I think. The administrative staff have been very willing to listen to us, and that's important to us. And all in all, we feel that our family member is safe there, and that's what really matters. She's not crazy about the food, but I know they're working on it. They have a new chef, and they're reworking the menu to be more senior friendly. And they seem to offer a lot of activities.

Newer facility with friendly staff.

It's a newer facility with friendly staff. Like any other place right now, they're struggling to get staff. So yo might consider bringing in help with care. But I don't fault them on that with the employment situation the way it is right now. They have a lot of activities and a pretty steady schedule.. At least once a month they have an outing, for instance they've recently gone to the botanical gardens. They have Bingo every week, Catholic services weekly, crafting, different speakers coming in. We were very appreciative when they allowed my father to bring his trainset and set it up in a common area so he could run his trains.

Our tour experience

Our family had an in person tour and Oak Park is a wonderful facility, and normally on the tour they allow the families to eat meals the residents but since it was during covid they packed us up an evening meal to take home and we thought it was very good. However our big concern is the activities are all on different floors, and if our loved one started having memory loss we did not want to have to worry about them getting lost.

Good Place

My loved one loves it here. The community hyped up a bunch of things they would do, and their promises aren't being upheld. There is no housekeeping or laundry that is being done properly or returned properly as well.

My review of Oak Park Place Wauwatosa

Our family was able to have an in person tour and the experience was good, we got a good look at everything inside. The community seemed very clean, well kept and organized. Only reason we did not choose Oak Park was the value, it was pretty significant.

Facilities were newer and very clean. [Name removed] was very personable and willing to help. No studio apartments currently available. The staff we observed seemed somewhat disengaged. Care level fees were more reasonable than other facilities we toured. We decided that Oak Park Place was the best fit for our loved one. We look forward to moving her there by the end of the month!

Pleasant Place to Stay

The community is a nice place. Due to the pandemic it has been completely different than when our loved one moved in. It is coming back around. It is a nice, clean place to stay. My loved one complained about the food a bit. There was a few changes in chefs.

Review of Oak Park Place

Our stay was very short here. We looked into a lot of facilities and we chose Oak Park place because my mom had a friend who stayed here and she had a good experience. The facility does offer all levels of care so that it nice. My mom was in a studio and it was good size. She had a nice big bathroom to accommodate wheelchairs. My favorite part about the community was the number of activities that they offered, the food here was good, the friendliness of the staff members, and they were very accommodating. I would recommend the facility. I do think they need to provide a little more care outside of just memory care. They also have rehab right across the street which is very nice.

A beautiful facility with caring staff

The decision to find an Assisted Living facility for my husband was not an easy one. Concern for his care was of the utmost importance to myself and family. A visit was made to Oak Park Place in Oak Creek, a brand new facility that would be able to provide the care he needed. The director with whom I spoke was very helpful, knowledgeable and always available for concerns and questions regarding our decision for placement. . The staff was efficient and friendly and always showed concern for the residents. Some of the services and activities generally offered were not immediately available when he moved in mid- January and are now available to the residents. We were fortunate to be able to have the opportunity for him to have their care during these past few months. He is now living back home. Thank you to everyone who helped make this possible.

Could use some improvements

My parents live here currently. One of the things I appreciate about the community is that they involve the residents in some of the decision making. They really attempt to hear their concerns and get feedback about what they want. From what I’ve seen, the dining room staff has been very nice. However, while some of the people that I’ve had contact with have been very helpful, others have not. The food is hit or miss, some days it’s good and some days it isn’t. They only serve breakfast and dinner, but the apartment that my parents have has a full sized kitchen so they can make their own food if they want to. The menu has 2 choices, a main entrée and an alternate, and there’s a salad bar. I’ve heard, though, that it sometimes isn’t filled enough for everyone to have some. My parents have said that the continental breakfast is the highlight of the day. The cleanliness of the facility is good and housekeeping is supposed to come by the room once a week to vacuum and dust. There are a few aspects of the community that I think they could improve, like making an effort to involve the residents in the activities they provide and creating specialized activities for specific age ranges. I also think they could upgrade the lighting and integrate the assisted and independent living sides so they can all socialize together. I wouldn’t mind recommending this place, but I would say they have a ways to go on improving certain aspects and that you should do your research before moving your loved one in.

High Quality

While looking into some options we found that this facility was a better fit for my love ones. My first impression of the facility was that it is high quality in terms of interaction and communication. We had a comprehensive meeting answering our questions and we felt comfortable to where we needed to be. Bottom line is that they are high quality and they actually won an award for customer service in the city of Madison. They also provide many activities for their residents. They explained to me their philosophy and how they want their residents to be as active as possible depending on their care. I would recommend this location. I will say that it is more expensive than others and you get what you pay for, but it’s all depending on what you’re looking for.

The staff seems rather competent

The staff seems rather competent. They administer my loved one’s medicine regularly and properly. They also seem to keep him out of trouble as well. A few things I think that they can improve on to begin with are the activities. Majority of the residents at this particular location are women and the activities seem to be specifically tailored to them such as cooking and having little children visit. Perhaps they could add more variety that could be beneficial for both genders. The facility itself is relatively neat and organized. However, my loved one is supposed to be receiving assistance bathing once a week, but from what I have noticed he only received assistance once in the entire month of November. I actually have been planning to talk to one person in management but every time I try to find him I seem to miss him. Finally, my loved one doesn’t think the food is too good. He and some other residents have had discussions about it and they state that the cooks try to get too “creative”. They prefer more simplistic options such as hamburgers or pizza. It also might be a question of texture, but I’m not sure. Overall I would still recommend this location to others.

Friendly Staff!!

I have no complaints about how things went for my loved one and I during our tour of this community. The staff where on time to our appointment and made sure to answer any questions we had for them in detail. I liked the floor plan and thought they had a lot of great amenities for all of the residents. It was just not the right fit for my mom in the end decision.
