Homestead of Eudora
4.9

We chose it because of the newness, cleanliness, and convenient location for family. The staff members really took my mom under their wing and made her feel comfortable here. It is a very close knit group, everyone sits together and they do not stay in their rooms. They do offer a lot of activities and have a calendar and they have things on it everyday. She is really enjoying the food here. I am disappointed that they have not gotten their medicaid certification yet, the other homesteads have it but they have not gotten theirs yet, if it is not going to happen it would be nice to let me know. I would recommend to others looking.

We recently moved in here, and our loved one has really fit in. She really enjoys it. We are happy with it, and like that she shouldn't have to move again in the future, when she starts to need medicaid.

I moved both of my parents to Vintage Park Gardner on October [Removed]. So far, I give them a 5. It is a very small community, which is perfect for them. They have the types of activities that my parents enjoy, such as a daily seated exercise class and book club. It also was the most affordable of any of the places we visited.

Nursing Homes

A nursing home is an establishment that provides lodging to two or more individuals who have no familial relation to the administrator. This type of establishment provides its occupants with care by registered nurses. These caregivers offer health related services for people who are unable to adequately take care of themselves because of mental or physical conditions, including age.

This type of community is a familiar and comfy living choice for persons 65 years or older, however nursing homes will often admit persons 55 and older (a rarity in the realm of senior care). As a resident of a nursing home, you can expect the right to have protections against involuntary transfer or discharge, be treated with respect, be free from restraints, and have your representative notified about your care. Many residents tend to be single women who have smaller social support groups, and about 50% of nursing home residents are older than 85 years old. Nursing homes are required to provide room and bed maintenance services, pharmaceutical services, a professionallly directed program of activities, and routine personal hygiene items to residents. The most frequent mental issue effecting nursing home residents is dementia, which can hinder their memory recall, and familiarity, and decision making abilities. Some services come at an extra cost which can include a private room, unless medically needed, personal comfort items, and cosmetic and grooming items.
