Independent Living

For seniors who would wish to live primarily without personal care assistance but would like the assistance of having daily tasks and responsibilities handled by professionalls, an Independent Living Community might be the perfect fit. Basic tasks such as meal preparation and housekeeping are handled by staff and a calendar of recreational and leisure activities is maintained, allowing residents the autonomy to use their time as they choose, free from daily responsibilities. Along with their daily needs being met, residents can enjoy an opportunity to live among peers, in a community with others of similar ages and backgrounds. Typically consisting of a private living space and a full kitchen, these communities offer residences with many of the amenities of apartment life but with none of the hassle. Guests can be invited over and entertained, and more time can be spent with them with the basic maintenance of daily tasks out of the way. While policies differ between communities, a number of residences allow pets as well. Nursing and health care services may always be arranged for with independent care providers as desired. There are a number of expenses and benefits to balance when determining an independent living community. It is important to learn if these services are covered in the care plan: wellness program, meals, internet access, utilities, Waiting list deposit, private phone, field trips, and cable TV. The benefits associated with independent living include concierge services, healthcare center, fitness center & swimming pool, golf course, private rental hall, game/TV room, transportation, and laundry service.
