Independent Living

An Independent Living Community allows residents the chance to continue to live an active life while guaranteeing their care requirements are met. Basic needs such as meal planning and housekeeping are handled by staff and a calendar of recreational and social activities is maintained, allowing residents an opportunity to use their time as they choose, free from daily obligations. Along with their daily needs being met, residents can enjoy the opportunity to live among peers, in a community with others of similar age groups and backgrounds. Typically comprised of a private living area and a full kitchen, these communities offer residences with many of the amenities of apartment life but with none of the hassle. Guests can be invited over and entertained, and more time can be spent with them with the basic maintenance of daily tasks out of the way. While policies differ between communities, many residences allow pets as well. If medical or nursing care is desired, residents may always utilize the services of independent care providers. There are a variety of advantages and expenditures to keep in mind when deciding on an independent living community. It is important to determine if these amenities are included in the plan: wellness program, utilities, cable TV, initial assessment fee, move-in fee, housekeeping, internet access, and field trips. The benefits that pertain to independent living include healthcare center, community activities, transportation, golf course, beauty salon & barber shop, concierge services, restaurant-style dining hall, and private rental hall.
