Independent Living

Independent Living Communities offer seniors a convenient balance between an independent lifestyle and not having to concern themselves with the upkeep of basic tasks and chores. Basic tasks such as meal planning and housekeeping are handled by staff and a calendar of recreational and social activities is maintained, allowing residents an opportunity to use their time as they choose, free from daily obligations. Along with their daily needs being met, residents can enjoy an opportunity to be among peers, in a community with others of similar age groups and backgrounds. Typically comprised of a private living area and a full kitchen, these communities offer homes with many of the amenities of apartment life but with none of the hassle. Guests can be invited over and entertained, and there will be more time to spend with them with the basic maintenance of daily tasks out of the way. While policies vary between communities, a number of residences allow pets as well. If residents decide they would like to enlist the services of independent medical providers, they may always do so. There are a variety of expenditures and advantages to balance while deciding on an independent living community. It is important to determine if these amenities are covered in the plan: housekeeping, utilities, wellness program, private phone, parking, initial assessment fee, internet access, and transportation. The amenities associated with independent living include transportation, private rental hall, game/TV room, healthcare center, beauty salon & barber shop, concierge services, fitness center & swimming pool, and community activities.
