Active community with happy residents
The staff are very friendly and helpful. The community is very active, you'll see residents socializing all throughout the common areas. It's a very nice place and I'm happy to have my father living there.

Memory Care was a Nightmare
This place was awful. My loved one had diabetes and was constantly given sugary treats to eat and even developed a diabetic wound on his foot while there and it went undetected and infected because they didn't check him over during shower time. When we tried to leave, they made it extremely difficult and even tried to come after us for more money even with proper notice. I would NEVER put my loved one here again. Nasty people.

Overall I am happy, took a while for my folks to get in the groove with staff etc. I like that they have all levels of care, independent, AL and Memory Care...My folks are in AL, but we will be moving them to memory care in the next couple of months. There was a bit of a hiccup when Stellar Living took over in March around cost ..but I was able to work through that with them.

I just think everything is perfect there for my dad.
He is leading a much better quality of life.
We chose this facility initially due to the price and the included meals.

There are lots of things that need to improve such as the food, activities, etc, however raising the rent to senior citizens that's already living on a fixed income, really needs to be looked at and considered.

Comfortable and welcoming
Took my Dad for a tour. Immediately felt the welcoming and warm vibe of this home for many. The food is great. My Dad couldn't wait to move in. A month later, he's in. His apartment is comfortable. He's made new friends. Has mobility with the shuttle service provided. Lots of fun things to do. He's really enjoying his new home. Thank you so much for helping us find his new home. You guys are the best.

The residents for the most part are wonderful and kind. I made a number of friends while I was living there. Thunderbird has been under new management since Dec 2023, they are Stellar Living. They are making many changes (too numerous to count). I'm confident it will be a better run facility at some point. I'm glad for these changes for the sake of the residents, they deserved better than what was before Stellar took over. My biggest complaint was the food and food service. It was terrible so I moved to another place. Stellar, is however, completely updating the kitchen and they are installing AC. So Bravo for all they are doing!

Staff very nice especially [name removed]. Food could be better hopefully when the new kitchen is finished. New comers not very welcoming to the old guard. A great place for loved ones.
Couldn't have asked for a better place for my mom. Administrative staff were so helpful throughout the whole process. Especially important as I live in New York State and trying to coordinate things long distance. I was with my mom during the move and had many opportunities to dine with her and interact with so many people. They really went above and beyond to welcome her and make her feel comfortable. I would highly recommend Thunderbird to anyone looking for independent living for their loved ones.

The cleanliness and friendliness is great. The care services, food, activities and value for cost are also great. Everything has been great! I love it here. We toured Thunderbird Senior Living during our search for and Independent Living facility. This facility was nice and seemed okay during the tour. However, the rooms were small and the closets were little. Really though, it was the second person fee that was the killer! This facility was beyond our budget.

Thunderbird, a great place be and let someone else do the cooking and cleaning!
I would say, staff are most gracious and the residents seem friendly and happy. We picked this community because of the location and price.I would like to add, the kitchen cooks do not know how to make pancakes. Every time I have ordered them they looked awful and they tasted just as bad. Pancakes are not hard to make but I definitely wouldn't serve what they have been serving it doesn't speak well of the kitchen and the quality that the cooking. I would also like to say that it would be nice if some of the ways staff would make eye contact, with people when they walked into the dining room, just a friendly hello welcome in someone will be with you shortly. Please find your seat. Sometimes it feels like they don't even know you're there maybe because they're stressed. I'm not sure, but a greeting would certainly make a difference. one other thing, I'd like to see addressed, the back door by the scissor gate although residents may have a key for this door it is not easy to open, because the tumblers inside the lock do not respond well to the key, the lock seems very loose and the key you may stand there for five minutes trying to get the key to open the door and that can be very frustrating if you're trying to get in the door and you have to go to the bathroom and you still have a ways to go once you get in. One more thing back to the pancakes. If I may, I would be willing to volunteer my time to show how pancakes are made. I also have a recommendation if a mix is used because what they're using they left out part of the ingredients because it was more like a crepe as a pancake I just can't over emphasize how terrible they were but I would be willing to teach somebody how to make pancakes from scratch or again. I have a recommendation for a pancake mix that is just out of this world. All you do is add water, so that's it thank you and I appreciate the opportunity to have someone ask me about these things because it does make a difference to the all overall satisfaction of everyone when you ask the questions that are sometimes difficult.

The building is old and maintenance seems to be on a tyranny-of-the-urgent basis, rather than on an intentional plan for updating. There seems to be a lot of bureaucratic red tape before any change can occur due to out-of-state ownership (i.e., food service and quality is not good at all, but suggestions for change make little difference). However, most of the staff seem very patient with the residents and listen well, even if their hands are tied to make changes due to corporate logjams. The activities are great, but the beloved activities director recently moved on to accommodate her family situation, so it remains to be seen whether this "shining light" of Thunderbird life will continue to be a plus. My parents love their accommodations, but after a year, there are still maintenance issues that remain unresolved. Our family is trying to patiently await possible improvements at this community before considering a change of address for our parents.

Thunderbird Senior Community Highlights
Apartments are small, but comfortable for one person unless getting a 2 bedroom. Full kitchens except for microwave. Need to have countertop version. Breakfast and either lunch or dinner included. Bus and vans available for weekly shopping/church trips and doctor visits under 11 miles. Banner Thunderbird Medical Center around the corner.
They are privately owned and do not take ALTEC. That was one thing that weighed as if mom ever qualifies for ALTEC we would end up more than moving her.

Like apartment space. Nice area to walk halls room to a do a mile or whatever distance. Love outside area ponds grass ducks turtles. Only do diabetic diets. I have friends with other special diet need!!!!
There are residents that have dogs and the resident are unable to pick of poop. So employees do it but that takes away from other duties.
Scooters a problem none scooter residents have been injured. Scooters back into, or run into tablets pushing them into non scooter residents. Needs to have the policy enforced
But I still like it here. There were problems when I lived at home!!!
