Response from The Phoenix at Lake Joy
March 9, 2023Terri M, thank you for your kind review; we are happy to pass along your comments to the team here at The Phoenix at Lake Joy! If you ever need anything else from us, please feel free to give us a call or stop by. Have an awesome day!
Let me start by saying I never give a five star review because every place can improve, even if they’re already pretty good. The Phoenix at Lake Joy in Warner Robins GA has been home for my grandmother since Dec 2017 (assisted living). They have changed management twice since then, and of course staff changes are bound to happen. But, the staff have always cared for her and kept her safe, especially during Covid. The rooms are nice and sizeable, and they offer private or semi-private rooms. Most rooms have double windows to allow in lots of natural light. The bathrooms are large enough for someone using a walker or wheelchair to navigate. And, the closets are good-sized. Overall, we have had a good experience with TP@LJ and would recommend it to those looking for assisted living options.

We are very impressed with the attention that is provided by the Staff. [name removed] is phenomenal. Her and her husband went and sat with my father while he was in the hospital. I was out of town and cannot thank her enough.

November 4, 2022We appreciate your positive review about your recent experience with us. We hope to see you soon!
We chose The Phoenix at Lake Joy because they were the most professional and also offered the most services. The facilities were definitely the nicest in the area that we looked at. The staff here are exceptionally accommodating. I would highly recommend The Phoenix to others.

October 17, 2022We are delighted that you chose us! We look forward to serving you and your family. Thanks for the recommendation, and have an amazing day!
The community is very nice. The team that works on the floor the girls are great. I do have situations from time to time where my loved one tells me one thing and then the staff says another so I am learning. If my loved one does not make it out for breakfast and does not go down they bring the meals to her and my loved one loves the way that they make the fish. The front desk was extremely patient and was there for everything that I needed.

Response from The Phoenix at Lake Joy
July 12, 2022Thank you so much for your positive comments about The Phoenix at Lake Joy!
We've had some issues. Response time on the call buttons is not really good. Sometimes you have to wait extra long periods of time to get your medication. I think they're pretty understaffed, which I know they're working on. But it has created some lags in service. The staff are pretty friendly overall, and it seems to be getting better working through these issues with them. But it has taken a while. The food is pretty good, but I would like to see more variety and more everyday common foods, things like simple meat, beans, and potatoes, as opposed to fancier things like steak. I think it's a nice facility, but it's on the pricier side, and for what we're paying, I expect better service.

January 7, 2022We appreciate your feedback and have shared with the executive director.
This community was a nice place but it was way to expensive. It was closer to my home but the cost was just too much. There were also no trees or anything around it due to it being so new.

The staff is very friendly and helpful anytime I've been there. We are just now allowed to go back to the memory care area to see our loved one. My family members have said that it has been great seeing our loved one in a meeting room even with the staff member with our loved one. The communication with the staff is pretty good with the family. They now have the ability to pay online.

Response from The Phoenix at Lake Joy
December 12, 2020Thank you so much!
The living space and common areas are great. Plenty of activities and attentive staff who routinely go that extra mile for the residents. While the COVID-19 shutdown and restrictions cut the week-long visit I had planned. I am glad the company has chosen to err of the side of caution.

Response from The Phoenix at Lake Joy
December 12, 2020We appreciate your support.
When the staff was good they were good, and when they were bad they were bad. It is a very expensive community. Some activities they did have were ice cream socials, arts and crafts and bingo. The rooms are spacious, it is set up well. It is a beautiful facility, very appealing to the eye when you entered. However the management could be improved.

Beautiful facility. Lots of windows to let in light. Staff was very interactive with the residents I saw. Most of the memory care residents were out sitting in the common area waiting on lunch. While I looked at the daily menus I did not see a real meal.

Response from The Phoenix at Lake Joy
October 3, 2019Thank you for the kind words! We would love for you to join us for a meal to enjoy a taste of Phoenix!
My mother has been a Memory Care resident for 9 months. Phoenix at Lake Joy is like family to both Mom and our family. Caregivers and staff care and are so loving. Mom is truly content there. Our family feels really good about Mom being a resident at Phoenix at Lake Joy. I would agree that Memory Care Unit and residents would certainly benefit from more caregivers being added on staff for each shift. I believe the director and staff are working hard to recruit additional caregivers and retain current caregivers. Mom was at another Memory Care Unit prior to moving to Lake Joy. No comparison. Lake Joy is an answer to a prayer for Mom and our family. A more caring, loving group of people would be hard to find.

The first night my MIL was in the memory care unit, she was left unattended, got out of bed, fell and hit her head. She hadn't been checked on in hours. Wound up in the hospital for almost 2 weeks. Back there now, Day 3. No breakfast, didn't get fed until 1PM. They forgot to give her her meds. One person working for 20 memory care patients. My wife had to help change her diaper, go get her meds. Woefully understaffed! The place sure looks nice, but do memory care patients need a stacked stone fireplace, movie theater and othe amenities? The are there as a marketing tool to sell the folks who are placing the parents. You can probably be ignored for less elsewhere.

New Management and ownership at the beginning of this year. Expanded memory care without having adequate staff. Administration is lip service. Place smells like a Nursing Home. Staff sit behind counter and ignore patients. Staff uses cellphone out in open. Rooms are dirty. Huge staff turnover. No one cares on the memory side.
