Thank you for your caring assistance for my husband in memory care. I took care of him as long as I physically could at home but needed to make the change. The staff shows kindness in caring for my husband. The kitchen & dinning staff are attentive to his needs in a friendly manner. The rooms are bright and cheery, as are the back patios. Thank you!

My 85 year old mother moved to assisted living here in July. Care is, for the most part, very caring and professional. The facility is appropriately staffed and response to call lights is very prompt. My family (including my husband and children ages 13 and 14) have had the opportunity to dine with her multiple times. The food is excellent, especially the Seafood specials. Dining service is excellent and very personable. Would be nice if they had more scheduled social events/parties for special holidays etc.

I absolutely LOVED the lodge. They offered a 5 year social security spend down which is nice. The reason my dad did not choose this facility was because the layout of the facility was not as nice and the rooms were a bit smaller than some others we had visited. Other than that it was a great place and this was definitely the runner up.
The Lodge at Mallard's Landing is a bit short staffed, so we aren't getting all the care we're paying for. However, the staff who are there are very good. They're very hardworking and they are really trying to take care of everyone's needs. We are paying for the highest tier, but because they are so short staffed our family has to do a lot things. If we weren't there to advocate, things like a tray might be left behind or the trash may not be emptied. The most important thing for me, even though we've had staffing issues, is that my aunt is so happy there. She's in their memory care unit and we thought it would be a battle, but after a month there she loves it and doesn't want to leave. We had to fill out a lot of paperwork, it was incredible how much paperwork we had to complete. We also filled out paperwork for her toe nails to be cut; once a month a doctor comes in to cut nails. We gave a lot of information and discovered a lot of stuff wasn't processed, she wasn't signed up for certain services. Balls were dropped from the time we first filled out paperwork, so we had to follow up and make sure the things we thought were taken care of, were actually taken care of. It was kind of a disappointment, but once it was resolved it was good. For example: my aunt has been in the emergency room several times for dehydration. She has trouble getting downstairs and she only drinks ice water. If someone doesn't bring it, she wont drink it. We put it in her admissions paperwork that she won't drink lukewarm or room temperature water. The staff realized it and they bring it now, but it was a learning curve. My aunt is also on oxygen and it was a real challenge for them to understand how to work with it. She was running out of it or given empty bottles, but now they seem to get it. It took a couple months, but they've seemed to figured it out. To us, the most important thing is how happy she is. I know there are problems, but her happiness trumps everything. I know they're trying hard. She is happy and that amazes me! For someone who didn't want to leave her home, we expected breakdowns, but the staff are so nice to her here. There are a couple of caregivers she just loves; they've made such a positive impact on her that even with dementia she remembers their names and it warms my heart. It's a really pretty facility with a pretty location. There are trees all around it and it's near a lake. It looks like a mountain lodge and it's very welcoming. They did a beautiful mural inside. Because she's in memory care, they painted this really pretty mountain mural over the door so residents don't realize it's a door and try to leave. It's such an interesting concept and it seems to have done the trick. When we first arrived it hadn't been painted, and we would see people approaching the door. Once it was done, I haven't seen them approach it. It's a nice little touch! My aunt also always compliments the food and how delicious it is.

I very much appreciate the care my mother receives here. The staff is always pleasant and attentive to the residents. The staff to resident ratio impresses me. It is always well staffed. A big thank you to all the care givers, nurses, aids, and support staff that work day and night, hand & hand with memory care residents. a big thank you to onsite management team for keeping me informed of my mothers well being, her safety, and for establishing a culture that a child would want to take care of their parent.

The Lodge cottages are a workable solution to "What do we do with mom?" The size and layout works well. The care and feeling of such a diverse group of people might be daunting - but not impossible. The meals are pleasant, varied, well planned and elevated. The wait staff are delightful!
