Memory Care at its Finest

It's time to get some help on the senior journey. Fortunately, you've found one of the premier memory care communities in the Harbor Bay area.

We are a warm and welcoming memory care community located in Gig Harbor, Washington. Our community features a valued location with convenient access to local shopping, restaurants, banks and physicians' offices. Our residents are at the heart of our community, and we recognize the special needs of seniors with dementia and treat each resident with respect, gentleness, and kindness.

We provide many services right at our community, including:
Visiting nurses
Visiting therapists, including physical, speech and occupational therapy
Visiting podiatrists
Pet care services
Pet Therapy
Specialized dining programs
Massage
Aromatherapy?

Our residents and families are often amazed at the beautiful views we have of Gig Harbor Bay, both from common areas and from some of the resident rooms. Our activities are designed to foster recollections, memory stimulation, and emotional connectedness. Activities are carefully thought out with resident abilities and preferences in mind.

Our community promotes safety, independence, and emotional well-being. We have emergency response systems in all rooms, alarmed exterior doors, enclosed courtyards, and large circular paths with directional cues.

We provide peace of mind and a comfortable lifestyle so your loved one doesn't have to choose between independence or assistance. Unlike a nursing home, Brookdale is a community of apartment homes where residents can have the independence of a private home, in addition to whatever type of supportive aid they need to perform daily tasks and maintain health.

Choose us for your senior living provider and you or your loved one will have access to a life lived well, with fewer worries, more options, and putting more life into senior living€”all in a warm, safe environment that feels just like home sweet home.

  • Brookdale Harbor Bay: A Satisfied Customer

My mom has lived at Harbor Bay over three years, but she was also a resident for a year in [date removed]. Her condition improved in [date removed], and she was able to go to assisted living for nearly three years before she needed more secure care. Both of the times my family and I placed her at Harbor Bay, we did it with complete trust in the staff. Many of the staff members in [date removed] are still there today. I visit my mom at this facility once a week or more, and I have phone contact with various members of the staff regularly. I told my son that if I ever need this level of care, I want him to consider Harbor Bay for me. We chose Harbor Bay for many reasons. It is smaller than other facilities we toured. The building is bright, the atmosphere is cheerful, yet peaceful, and any foul odors are dealt with within a reasonable amount of time. The food is good and the chef has been on staff at least since my mom first went into care there. The caregivers really seem to enjoy spending time with the residents - beyond just giving the minimum care required. The director and management, the maintenance guy, cleaning staff and nurses also spend time with the residents and get to know them. There are activities that range from gentle balloon tossing, to outings and drives. There are sing-a-longs with guest musicians, crafts, church groups and special events with families and friends. Residents can choose to participate, and caregivers invite everyone to join in. No place is perfect, and I have had to address things with the director or nursing staff when I was unhappy about something. I have found that staying in touch and having a relationship with staff members is essential for good care for my mom. The director, resident care manager, nurses, everyone – makes time to listen to me and understand my complaint. If they overlook or forget something, or miscommunicate, they apologize and either correct the problem, or work with me to find a solution. I don’t recall having any problems with how the staff treat my mom or care for her. I believe she is safe and cared for, probably better than if I cared for her myself.

  • RUN AWAY FAST

The WORST experience for my entire family...run by clowns [name removed] and his cohort in manipulation, [name removed]. The first time I met [name removed] he said “I love my job because I get to LIE to people all day and get away with it!”.... he was referring to his ability to lie to patients living with Alzheimer’s Dementia because “they will just forget what I say anyway.” Ya... that’s real funny, isn’t it? Neglect, malnutrition and absolutely no activities for the residents... residents are bored and anxious. Dinner consists off a scoop of cottage cheese, pea salad and 4 saltines and water. Billing practices are manipulative. You never know what you will be charged for. They refuse to assist family with questions. The answers are always “I don’t know “ “I wasn’t on shift” ..... ya, well you can read the chart notes, can’t you?? As far as nurses go there are no RNs in this facility.... only LPNs. [Name removed] will fake cry for you.... it’s sickening. Our family has endured tremendous stress, disbelief and heart break because of this circus. Management is unbelievably disrespectful and dishonorable. Spare your beloved. Don’t go anywhere near Brookdale in Gig Harbor.

  • A Safe Memory Care

It is a wonderful experience for my husband. The staff are over and beyond with him and I see he is doing better. He has made a friend that he likes to talk with. The staff are mature a good with the residents. I have not seen any staff turnover and they have worked there for a very long time. I am happy with the community and he is happy there and he loves the nurses.
