Loved the staff - everything you could hope for. Mom had no complaints and neither did we a month AFTER mom passed on 1/9/23 when we received the bill... We visited mom that evening after her death and took everything out of the room except her clothes and unopened personal care items which, when we asked the staff if we could donate to anyone there in need, were told that we could. NO CONTACT UNTIL 3 WEEKS AFTER SHE PASSED. Then, on 1/30 when we received a call asking about the clothes still in the room, we advised that we asked to donate those to anyone in need and were told that we could. Bill time comes around at the beginning of February and we were charged over $XXXX [amount removed] for the time for the room after mom passed while her clothes that we ASKED IF WE COULD DONATE AND WERE TOLD WE COULD. When I called and explained what happened, I was basically told in a professional way that "they don't do that" and that we needed to pay $XX [amount removed] for every day the room wasn't cleared out.

December 28, 2022Hi EO, Thank you for the wonderful things you said about Sunrise of Exton and the dedicated care givers and team members. We are passionate about our community and always enjoy hearing the many beautiful stories about our residents and team members.
According to our loved one the meals are really good but they do tend to get a little repetitive. They also have a lot of activities for the residents to participate in.

October 14, 2022Hi Customer, Thank you for the wonderful things you said about Sunrise of Exton and the dedicated care givers and team members. Our residents are part of the Sunrise family and we take enormous pride in having the privilege to take care of them.
Sunrise has an excellent staff and very friendly residents. My loved ones room was small, but pleasant. The room was furnished and had a small refrigerator, a closet, bathroom, a tv, and a bed. Some of their activities include puzzle making, several musical events, bingo, and other things. The food has good variety; you have several choices, usually of a main meal or some kind of alternative. Desserts were excellent too. I would definitely recommend Sunrise of Exton to others!

October 11, 2022Hi Robert, Thank you for the wonderful things you said about Sunrise of Exton and the dedicated care givers and team members. Our residents are part of the Sunrise family and we take enormous pride in having the privilege to take care of them.
Overall it was a decent place. Some things could be improved, but better than the homes that except Medicaid. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful, as with anywhere nowadays there were a few that did as little as possible. Our person often told me they would take forever to get her to the bathroom. I observed one aide who did everything possible not to get to the room, but that was one aide. Most were friendly and treated people with respect. For the $XX,XXX a month that my person paid, the aides weren't being paid enough and it reflected in their service. Otherwise it's better than [two community names removed]. When you arrived at the dementia floor you didn't get knocked out by the smell of urine like I did at [community name removed], and the staff pays way more attention to the patients than either [two community names removed].

September 30, 2022Hi Customer, Thank you for the wonderful things you said about Sunrise of Exton and the dedicated care givers and team members. Our residents are part of the Sunrise family and we take enormous pride in having the privilege to take care of them.
They have temps who come in that aren't always the best, but I do think they handle it well. If you have any kind of problem speak up because they are very responsive and I think that's that pretty rare. The bottom line is my mother-in-law talks a lot more, she has people to converse with. So, in general she is communicating more as her world has expanded. She talks about the activities she does everyday, like the movies they show and the friends she's made and the ones she's lost.

July 25, 2022Hi Melanie, It is delightful to hear that you have been satisfied with the personalized support provided to your loved one by Sunrise of Exton. Our team members share a common goal of enriching every resident’s life by carefully listening to their needs and always delivering the very best. Thank you! – The Sunrise Team
Sunrise of Exton was sorely understaffed. And the staff were not welcoming. The facility was very clean. The food was okay. But being short staffed brought on obvious complications. And they actually resorted to medicating my mother so that she would not be the challenge that she was, instead of using skills to work with her. They came highly recommended, but the experience was highly disappointing.

My Dad adapted very easily and quickly to this new transition. It doesn't have to be a very difficult and painful decision for everyone involved. It was the right place at the right time. He said "this is a lot better than living alone and what I was trying to manage, and why did I wait so long".

Everything is quite nice. They have had two periods of lockdown due to the pandemic. The first time it last a couple of weeks and the food was delivered to the residents as they were kept in their rooms. Recently they had another modified lockdown. The staff are doing booster shots and assisting in caring for the residents. The healthcare is better than I expected. My loved one is doing better than we anticipated. The community is close to two major hospitals. If you can afford Sunrise this is a good place.

So upon moving mom out the mail issues have been a nightmare. They don't have individual mail boxes for residents so because sunrise sorts all mail in house you cant forward mail through the post office if you move out. major pain. they also only speak to POA about any medical issues. This does not work, so if they hospitalize a resident and cant reach the POA they will not tell any other of the residents immediate family what happened, or that the resident is not in the building. The Dr is an issue when they plan to put all memory issue on a self until the get the "know" the resident, mean while the resident ends up spending more time in rehab for breaks due to falling than in Sunrise over a 6month period. Listening to all that know the resident especially the ones who spend the most time with health care even if they are not the POA is extremely important and not done at Sunrise.

Don't put your family member in this place. Team members, especially those at night don't care about the residents and can be nasty at times. Constantly in and out of rooms, most time not announcing themselves. They don't care about privacy. They don't know how to fold laundry or clean rooms properly. Food is nasty, and the never get orders right. The only positive thing about this place is the daytime (M-F) concierge, she's wonderful, very helpful, and very pleasant.

The community staff was very caring, open, and wonderful. Every time I called they were there to answer all my questions and they were on top of everything. They bent over backwards to care of him. I would definitely recommend this community to others

We chose this facility because of the staff members, the cost, as well as it was close to our home. The room sizes are adequate. My mother in law is in a suite and she shares it with another person. Food wise, everything I have tasted has been very good. My favortite part about this community has been the friendliness of the staff members. I would recommend Sunrise of Exton.

This team was great! They took great care of my Dad and was patient with him. The team was always communicating with me how he was doing or any changes, especially with his Parkinson’s. He had a great experience there and enjoyed the multiple options at meal times and the activity team would always encourage him to come to activities that he would specifically enjoy.

Our loved one was in memory care, and we felt the staff was shorted, handed and certain things that we were promised didn't happen. The food at this community was excellent when we first moved in, then they had a chance in chef and it went down hill. Overall what you see in the tour seemed very nice, it was very showy. The overall communication at this community was lacking. On the bright side they have not had one COVID case at this community.

My father was in Sunrise for 1-1/2 years. The care was excellent. The communication was excellent. At times he could be a handful, but the sunrise employees worked with him to make sure he had everything he needed. At end of life I experienced the staff caring for him in a very kind and loving way.
