I would tell others that we have been happy with the community so far. They have gotten high ratings about their safety protocols during the pandemic. Everyone on the staff are very friendly to the residents.
I would recommend the community to others for their loved ones. The communication with the staff is very good, you seem like you have to be the one that reaches out. There is not a lot of selection when it comes to the food. Sometimes the quality isn't that great and the food is bland in taste. There isn't a lot of fresh fruit or veggies. This might be because of the pandemic.
It is quite expensive and sometimes we feel that we have to stay on top things, we would like just a little more communication especially during this time with the pandemic.
This community is very clean, the staff members are top notch. The experience was great, they took very good care of our loved one and made her very comfortable. They also worked very well with us. They kept everyone happy, they had bingo and many other activities. The hospitality was great, they really bend of backwards to make you happy. The dining area was just wonderful, it was very clean and offered a lot even during COVID. We were very impressed.
We chose Sunrise of Annapolis because I was able to get her one of the 3 bedroom rooms and a shared bath as well as a common area. It worked really well for her. The food was acceptable but we were not excited about it. The organization has a set food supply, so it is pre-determined. The cook does not have the action to choose the options so it limited his creativity with the menu. My favorite part about this community was that it had quite a few people who were mentally savvy which my mother also was, so she had things in common with the residents. The other thing that worked well was that we were able to move her possessions in here, so she was using things that were familiar and that she was comfortable with. I would recommend this facility, they were very easy to work with and they wanted to please. My biggest issue was when my mother slowed down, they wanted to diaper her and keep her in bed and she did not want that. I think staff should have checked on her more and also gotten her up into a chair more.
We visited many facilities and chose Sunrise of Annapolis because it was a clean and attractive setting. It also was a great location for us as well as we really like the director. He is very genuine and wants the best for your family member rather than just trying to sell you something. He is always available to talk to if there is any type of issue. They do a wellness exam and we feel they were very attentive while doing so. My mom loves the caregivers here and trusts them and they are very attentive to her and her needs. Our experience overall has been very good.
We are so grateful and blessed how the Lord led me to Places for Mom and [name removed] to aid me in my search for just the right place for my 97 year old mom. She finally had to go into an assisted living after spraining her knee and getting pneumonia after rehab, and this was just as the Coronavirus was shutting down everything to visitors. Sunrise was so accommodating and worked tirelessly to help facilitate her move in and initial care after her hospital recovery. They were patient with family as we fretted over her adjustment but the staff positively persevered! Mom really liked it there and began limited socialization. [Name removed] set up several FaceTime meetings for me and whenever staff could, they accommodated us in being able to talk with mom who has been in Reminiscent Care and didn’t know how to answer the phone. Mom currently is in hospice in place, and we can’t thank them enough for their loving concern for her. She is being kept so comfortable and even in her last days, she has needed no medications!
The community is very clean as there are no odors, there's no mess in the hallways. It feels like its up to the standards you'd have in your own home. The staff is very friendly and they clearly build strong, personal relationships with the residents. They do their best to make the residents comfortable and accommodate for their needs. The care available to residents is very good. When Covid-19 came about, I offered to bring my mother home with me for the duration of the pandemic, however she elected to stay at Sunrise. She said she felt very safe and protected by the staff and that they had made a clear effort to keep the residents safe. We shopped around a lot for communities for my mother and we found this one to be appropriately priced for what you get out of it. The activities were one area where the community has room for improvement. We would like to see more intellectually stimulating activities as the ones they do have available seem to be geared less toward mobile or independent residents. During the Covid-19 pandemic, the activities coordinator has found some great ways to shake up the day by going room to room and offering small things like mobile happy hour or arts and crafts to the residents.
We enjoyed everything about our visit. [name removed] gave us all kinds of valuable information. The facility is friendly and spotless. The staff were wonderful! There are plenty of activities and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves as they sat at lunch.
It was absolutely terrible. All cotton candy; sugar, sugar, sugar and little follow through. We believe we were coddled and paid lip service and when we we not actually there our mother did not get the care she deserved, she did not get the care for which we paid, nor did she get the care she was promised. We came to see and be with her daily yet after one month and 3 trips to a local hospital emergency room we refused to allow her to return to Sunrise of Annapolis.
