If you could afford the community. I would recommend placing a loved one in the community. It is a beautiful community. There was an incident with my friend in the community, and the community didn't communicate with me about this incident. My friend ended up telling me they were sent to the hospital, and neither the community or the hospital called to let me know this. I really wish the community would have let me know about this. I feel that some from the community or myself should have gone with this individual, because they want to escape from the community. My friend was transported alone both to the hospital and back to the community in a transport. The food is enjoyed by my loved one. There are three meals a day and choices served to the residents. There are also snacks provided. The community has let me down with their communication as it has been poor. They have requested that I don't visit as often, and they are not communicating and this has lost my trust with them.... Read more

Sumter Senior Living is a beautiful community that is conveniently located. It is very very nice right when you walk in, and [name removed] who is in charge of all the activities and decorations does a wonderful job. They celebrated Veteran's Day with their residents and we thought that was just beautiful. However there could be improvements when it comes to the house keeping, and the meals and dining - our loved one says the food is just awful. We do understand there are staffing shortages but we do wish we could see the staff around more frequently.

My mom has only been here for a short time but she is absolutely in love with Sumter. The staff is very attentive and takes good care of her. I finally have a peace of mind. I would highly recommend Sumter Senior Living to anyone looking for a great place to live.

We did not have a good experience overall. Our loved one went into assisted living, and on his first day there, they diagnosed him with sun downing (which we had no idea about). So he had to move to memory care. They lost all his clothes, so we had to keep bring him more. His room was nice with a nice view, but it always smelled and wasn't cleaned thoroughly. Otherwise it was really a nice facility and pretty new, so the common areas were clean and new. They had some good employees. The food was pretty good, but in memory care they didn't offer choices since that can be hard for people with dementia to communicate. They had activities that a lot of people were participating in. But we just found the services in memory care to be lacking, and it ended up not being a good transition for him. We ended up moving him to another memory care facility where he was able to thrive.

Everyone is friendly. They are somewhat understaffed. Sometimes they have plenty of staff and other times they seem quite busy. On the weekends, there is one nurse/nursing assist, so it's no one to let you in. There is one person handling everything. Mom really likes the place, because they are nice, respectful and she is very comfortable. The cleaning has improved. The most important thing, is they are very understaffed, and there is a constant turnover. In addition, mom has missed hair and nail aptointments, due to not having someone take her or she arrives late and the stylists is backe dup.

We had a little bit of a rocky start, and I think their communication with new families could be improved. But things have settled down a bit, and in the end, everything has turned out well. The staff really love my mother. I appreciate the cleanliness of the facility. And they do well with activities for elders.

I would recommend you look into the community it seems to be the best option in the area. My loved one likes the location and the specific apartment is perfect for them. The staff are very good to work with if I have questions or concerns about my loved one. My loved one enjoys the food; however, my loved one likes to eat in the pub. In the dining room they seat you with other residents.

This community seemed very dark and old. It was not the feel that I was looking for when it came to my loved one.
Our family had an in person tour and Sumter Senior Living is huge with several floors and different buildings. It was during covid so we are not sure if that was the reason, but on the tour we hardly saw any staff members so maybe they were having trouble with staffing. Also the lady we worked with was very sales and all business.
