This community seems very home like. The sales staff was nice over the phone and answered my questions and concerns. The building is under renovations but seemed nice. The activities director showed a variety of activities and outings each week. The food menu looked good and had two options. The price is high for the size of the rooms.
Any questions or concerns I have, they always address them. I got my loved one a cell phone, and a lot of the time she doesn't remember how to use it or she accidentally turns the ringer off. But they're really good about having her call me when I can't get through to her. They've been really nice about that. I've meet the ladies who clean the rooms once a week, and they're always open to questions about if she needs supplies like paper towels and things. When I've been inside myself, everything has been nice and clean, including the bathroom, the kitchen sink, the refrigerator. And they do her laundry. Shelby Gardens has a great activities director who keeps the residents busy. She prints out what they're doing that day and at what time. That way anybody who would like to participate can do so. They've hatched baby ducks, planted vegetables outside, painted, and done crafts. The activities director posts pictures on Facebook so you can see what your family member is up to. And she'll also text me pictures sometimes so I can share them with out-of-state family members. She puts forth a lot of effort above and beyond. She'll do my loved one's nails on the weekend. I've been very pleased. It took a while for her to get settled in, but she likes it now. She seems very content. I tell her it's like she's on a cruise - with meals provided, housekeeping, activities, people to socialize with. She tells me it's the cruise that never goes anywhere - although I know they go on little outings when Covid protocols allow.
Due to the covid restrictions we were not able to get inside the facility, but looking through our loved ones windows the place seemed very clean. Our loved one is a big eater, he absolutely loved the food and the taste of the food. The community did open up a couple of weeks ago, but the activities are geared more towards the woman so there are not a lot that peaks his interest.
The staff is friendly and caring. They keep you apprised with everything that is going on with your loved one. The atmosphere is one of the best things and to know it is a caring place. I would like to see the price changed.
We had issues with her items coming up missing and the Admin treated us very badly when we were cleaning out their rooms. We did not receive any condolences when our loved one passed away. I would not recommend this community to others.our experence
The staff is super friendly and I think they are good with her. I would recommend this community to others.
I immediately connected with the representatives at Shelby Gardens. I have spoken with two representatives and have had 2 virtual tours. They are close to our homes and offer some things that our loved one would enjoy. At the top of the list too.
The staff seems to be very good and friendly. The take care of your loved ones very well. The location was a good fit for us. Room sizes seemed to be more than average. The layout of the community is good and the outdoor space is sufficient.
Shelby Gardens Place is a really nice facility with lots of activities and beautifully decorated gathering areas for interaction with other residents. The staff is very passionate about the happiness of those they are entrusted with. The building is very clean and has no smell. The only thing I was dissatisfied with is the size of the actual living spaces that were quite small. Hopefully the residents are so busy enjoying the activities and fellowship areas that they aren't in their rooms much.
Shelby Gardens is nice, close, and the price is OK. I don't think my brother is going to agree right now, but I will keep this facility in mind.
My family moved moved my aunt here and she absolutely loves it! [Name removed], the activities director, is a God sent! She is amazing with everyone. The food is also very good. I would definitely recommend this facility!
I found Shelby Gardens smelling and looking clean. Staff was attentive, caring and welcoming. I loved that they didn’t have a lot of residents, only 25 beds in the Memory Care facility. Residents seemed happy. We were impressed with the facility overall.

Thanks so much for your kind review. We're glad the compassion we have for our residents resonated with you. Let us know if you have any questions!
My father lived here 6 years and we were always happy with the care he received. The facilities are always clean and they have recently updated the facility. This past weekend, my family was with my father when he passed away. The nurses and caregivers were amazing and the staff who stopped by to care for us and our family went above and beyond. You could just sense the "team" atmosphere among the staff there. Everyone communicated with each other and took pride in their roles. The day after my father passed, we ran into a young man who was collecting trash and told him about my father; he was so mature and kind in his response. He recalled the special bond he had with my father. The director at Shelby Gardens Place is a first-class leader of that team. My mother has interacted with her the most and has been impressed with her communication skills and responsiveness. She impressed me when she recounted a short period of time when the ice maker was being repaired and my dad wanted ice. This director picked up ice for him on the way to work on the days the ice maker was not working. Above and beyond!!!
Fabulous place. Small and home like, friendly, and extremely clean. Very caring staff. There a lot of options in the Memphis area but you wont be sorry selecting this place. My mom loves it! Her favorite things are the flower arranging they do every week and the Friday trips out. She loves the doctor that sees her there too.
We toured several facilities before deciding on Shelby Gardens Place for our Mom. We liked the convenient location and the building being situated away from the street. The large covered front porch with ceiling fans, rocking chairs, and patio furniture is very inviting. The staff and residents are friendly and helpful. There is a variety of entertainment and activities available to residents. There have been recent renovations made that are very nice. We have been very pleased with the choice we made.
Great nursing staff. Everyone seems happy here. The patients look clean and well cared for. It does seem a bit pricey for the size of the apartments though.
Moved our grandmother here because of the Activity Director [Name removed]. She is so good with all the residents. She takes time to go above and beyond to meet their needs. Our previous community was just not the same without her.
Impressed with the staff at this community. They really care about the residents.
Moving my mother here because of their activity programming.
