My Father would be alive today if he hadn't fallen on that hard floor 3 times. Hitting his head at least one time with a knot resulting. The meals prepared were terrible. Very unprofessional. My father went to rehab, and right before his release, the social worker told me Kirby Gate informed them that my Father was not allowed to return there. I scrambled to find a place for my dad. I was able to get his personals out before the end of that month, and I asked them for a refund for the remaining time, they never replied, therefore they stole money from me. Unfortunately, my Father passed away on [date removed]. Kirby Point is a horrible facility for Dementia patients.

The actual care was fine - Dad's room was kept clean and he was kept clean, and they reported his cellulitis and got him to the hospital quickly. But the business side of the community is horrible. The nurses and caretakers were great, I have no complaints about them, but the administration is a nightmare. First; they tried to bill me [amount removed] more than the lease said and the excuse was "oh we never read the lease." Then, I was promised in writing by text message that first month would be pro-rated - nope, failed to honor that. My dad was treated quite well, but I was treated extremely poorly as the payer on this bill. I felt like they made every effort to effectively steal money by trying to charge me [amount removed] more, by going back on their word about pro-rating, and then by terminating the lease but still expecting me to pay. I had a horrendous experience with this facility.

It's a nice place overall. They take good care of my loved one. But the food has not been good at all. They told me it would be good, home cooked meals. But everything is deep fried, and they serve lunch leftovers at dinner. They also think cabbage and potatoes is a whole meal. For as much as we're paying, they should have better food.

We really liked the community. We wanted more space for our loved one and we needed slightly higher care services for our loved one as well.
Overall, we've been very satisfied with this facility. The staff is great. They're very helpful. The facility is always clean. Communication with the family is excellent. Housekeeping is done often and they do a very good job. They provide laundry service as well and do a good job with that. As far as activities, they seem to offer a lot of them on the Assisted Living side but not on the Memory Care side. The only thing we've been unsatisfied with is that our loved one has had a few falls since she's been here. We are working on how to prevent her from experiencing any more of those. Otherwise, things have been very good. I have and will continue to recommend this facility to family and friends.

At first my loved one had a lot of unhappy things to say. She felt the staff talked to the residents like children and bossed them around instead of speaking to them as adults. She doesn't say that so much lately, so I think that has calmed down a bit. Recently a lot of staff have resigned - the director, maintenance man, head nurse, the admissions lady. I'm hoping things will improve with the new director. My loved one says the food is really difficult to eat - it's often too hard to chew, and sometimes unrecognizable. But the new director is nice and wiling to speak with me. So we're hoping things will get better with the new new director. And my loved one's nursing care has been great throughout.

I toured this community and it was great. I really liked it. It's beautiful, nice staff, great apartments. However, the location wasn't ideal. I personally felt that it was too close to a not so great part of town. Had it been located in a different area, it would have been our first choice.

We were hoping our loved one wouldn't be in the locked memory care side, but we didn't have a choice once she ran on her first day there. She speaks really well and only has short-term memory loss, so she doesn't quite fit in with the other memory care residents. I wish every now and then they'd let her go over to the brighter assisted living side. I wish she had more things to do in memory care, and that it wasn't so dark. They are fixing it up though. They had put new carpet in the halls the other day. I think she's safe and they don't allow anything bad to happen to her. I just wish they could get through to her to get her to shower and things more, although we struggled with that too when she was with us. But with time, she seems to be adjusting. They have some new staff members that are great. One of the administrators is really nice, and she always asks my father how he's doing when he comes to visit my mom, which he appreciates.

The value for the money was great and they had a semi private room which we were able to afford. The workers were also extremely friendly and already knew her from a previous facility. The staff are just wonderful and so accommodating, they were able to take her back after her fall. Overall it was a great experience and I would recommend them and already have to friends who have moved their loved ones here.

I would encourage you to check out the community and see if it would meet your needs. The administration is acceptable. This is a smaller community, and doesn't have a big intuitional feel you might get from a bigger community. The staff communication with the residents is good. All the meals are offered in the dining room with the option of taking it to back to your personal room or having the meal delivered. There are three meals a day served to the residents.

I do not feel like this community was very responsive to my loved one while she was in this community. My loved one was very sick and I was trying to get a hold of her and they kept telling me that my loved one was okay. She was not okay and needed to see a doctor. In the beginning I felt like they were very friendly but after move in I feel like things began to change.

Our main concerns have to do with accessibility. They've added a fence in front of the building with an access code to get in, which is great except it has cut down on parking to the point that there's not enough sometimes. Also, I appreciate the fact that they keep the front door locked for the safety of the patients. But it makes it inconvenient for family members to come visit. But every time I've been there, it's been very clean with no noticeable or offensive odors. There is a nice courtyard between the buildings. Currently they're starting some renovations to upgrade the carpets and paint and give a general facelift. The staff have been very accommodating. And when I send emails with questions or concerns, my point of contact has been very quick to get back to me.

It is a great place, the folks are nice. I spoke to the staff and they gave us a video tour before moving my loved one in. They were having an early New Year’s Eve party. The community was helpful in getting my loved one acquainted with the community. They allow us to drop items off at The community wants to know the family to associate with them better.

After hearing about my sister's case, we toured the dementia unit not the assisted living part. There are 17 dementia beds, with their own dining area and activities. I was pleased with the number of personnel and the activities of the group. Cleanliness was apparent and flooring and furnishings are simple in the public areas. Available for outside walking was a small secured courtyard. The rooms were large enough to be comfortable and could be furnished in a homey way. There is an on site doctor who will function as primary care. Nurses dispense the medications. The fee is all inclusive and is realistic.
