I would give a 5 for each category. It's clean, and the staff does a great job of caring for my sister. When we Zoom, I can see that her clothing is clean, she's brushing her teeth and her hair is clean. She doesn't remember what happens during the day, but she most often has a different shade of fingernail polish each time we talk, and that clearly pleases her. The staff helped her to feed and care for her dog until the little guy died at 18 years. The time my sister had with her pet was very important to her, and there's been a substantial slippage since he died. I know that caring for a dog was often inconvenient for the staff, but they did it without complaint to me because it was so clearly important to my sister. When I have an issue, I can call and leave a message and most often get a return call. If I don't get a return call, it's always possible to phone [name removed], the president, and he is very good about calling back and solving problems. I think running an assisted living home is a very difficult thing to do. The fact that they are willing to call me back and engage in listening to my concerns is such a relief! The care providers my sister had previously were not nearly so reachable.... Read more
Sometimes a small board-and-care home provides just the right amount of comfort. While a large assisted living facility may make you feel like one of many, board-and-care homes offer a more intimate setting that features a higher level of safety and more social opportunities than living alone at home. Serenity House Assisted Living at Hoyt Street in Lakewood, Colorado, offers a comfortable home with professional caregivers and fosters a true sense of community. This beautiful gray brick home sits on a quiet residential street in a safe neighborhood.
Denver is just 15 minutes away, where you can enjoy the sights of Larimer Square or take in a baseball game at Coors Field. The home is also near local community and senior centers as well as many shopping and dining options. Serenity House is owned and operated by a physical therapist with over 35 years of experience in senior care.
There are plenty of opportunities for you to be active and engaged in this community. The engagement coordinator schedules activities and events, including exercise and music classes, special events and celebrations, and excursions in one of the 15 accessible passenger vans. The home has a covered deck, giving...

12 residents in converted home. Residents were active and seemed happy. My only concern was only 2 staff on duty. Wondering how you feed and get 12 folks out of bed or to bed with only 2 folks.

Response from Serenity House Assisted Living Hoyt Street
April 5, 2019Thanks for taking the time to provide your review. We have three care staff on duty for the first four hours in the morning, as this is the busiest time of the day. We look closely at the population of our residents and their ongoing care needs and insure that there is sufficient staff to easily carry out the care plans. In addition to care staff, we have two Engagement Professionals who come to the home twice each day during the work week to facilitate social and recreation programs as well as community outings.
I really like Serenity house. My Mom seems happy there. I sometimes have language problems with the staff. I am happy they do games and puzzles with them every day.

The food at this care home is homemade and ok. They do keep the home clean and they offer some activities. My loved one is still trying to adjust to living here and the caregivers are trying to help them with this. I would recommend this care home.

Taking care of a loved one with Alheimer's disease or dementia is a job for professionals. No matter how hard you try, eventually the burden of providing round-the-clock care for a loved one with Alzheimer's becomes to much. Eventually, you will admit that is is best to find a place that can...
