At first - very nice and clean. Over the next few months - area started to smell of urine, personal care went down significantly, overall the memory care unit declined. PS Parkside left about 25% of my dad's clothes in wet urine and dried feces. Plus they are on their 3rd Admissions Director in 4 months. I would tell others to make sure and read the contract! You need to be willing to nicely and strongly advocate for your loved one. If your loved one has a DNR - you MUST review the Parkside medical paperwork and CONFIRM that the DNR is noted and it does NOT say "resuscitation at all costs". If you move your loved one out to another facility- make SURE you give Parkside 30 days WRITTEN notice. Also, follow up with ALL medical records needed for the next place.

The staff member are very friendly to our loved one and she really likes the atmosphere of the facility. However on our loved ones floor there could be just a little more staffing and some more activities. Overall it is a great place.

My loved one was in Memory Care for 3 days when they called me to tell me I had to hire a sitter to watch him for 7 hours a day. That is roughly $200 a day with $28 an hour on weekdays and $30 on weekends. (I think it was because they were short staffed.) Then, after he'd been there awhile he apparently was not calming down regardless of his meds, (which they told me it could take a month or so to kick in) started to get anxious, jittery, difficult, etc. He was also getting up 2-3 times a night to urinate. So, they started him on a low dose of Ativan. The dose was increased until he was out of it, like a zombie. Because the rent was going up $625 in September, and I was still having to pay $5600 a month for a sitter, I searched for other Memory Care facilities. When I spoke with them, I was totally upfront about him not remembering that he can't walk, yet constantly standing up, and often falling. I told them I could not move him if they were going to require a sitter. When the [community name removed] nurse came to evaluate him, she immediately contacted me and said, "He acts like he has a UTI. When was the last time he had a urinalysis?" I asked the Parkside nurse and she checked his chart. He had NEVER had a urinalysis in the 2-1/2 months he'd been there!!! ANYONE who has worked with the elderly knows that if they start getting agitated or difficult, it's very possible they have a UTI. So, I asked the nurse to call his doctor and order a urinalysis. Sure enough, he had a UTI!! Maybe had they performed a urinalysis when he first was admitted, he would not have had to have a sitter at all! He was put on an antibiotic for 010 days later, I moved him to [community name removed]. Since being at [community name removed] he has NEVER had Ativan and does not get up frequently in the night to urinate. I had a meeting with the executive director of Parkside a month after I moved my loved one out, and he said as very open to listening to my disappointment with [his] care. He said he'd have there "overall, charge or whatever" nurse evaluate his care. I received an email from him a couple days ago saying all "procedures and protocols" were correctly followed. I am very disappointed with his response because that means any resident they have may get treated like [my loved one] and not checked for a UTI because of their "protocols and procedures."

I have a dear brother in need of care and Parkside has become home to him. He is helped when he needs it and left to himself when he likes to have peace and quiet. The administration, staff, and all the "helpers" have been so kind, warm, and gracious to us on our three day visit. We really appreciate the attention to detail that Parkside gives: cleanliness, kindness, readiness to help, and friendliness. And, we had a delicious meal with my brother. It was evident to us that A Place for Mom had found just the right spot for my family member.

September 14, 2022Thank you so much for your wonderful review. We appreciate being acknowledged for the hard work and dedication of our entire team!
[Name removed] and [Name removed]were wonderful to work with with and they really cared for my loved one. The staff were able to get my loved one to eat, when the family wasn't able to get our loved one to eat, and this was really great. We had no problems with the staff. The community was clean, and they were compliant with the CDC guidelines for COVID. The community is very secure for memory care. I was very pleased with our experience. I would recommend the community to others for their loved ones.

July 6, 2022Thank you so much for your wonderful review. We appreciate being acknowledged for the hard work and dedication of our entire team!
We had a very nice tour experience with Parkside. The reason we did not choose this facility was because to us it felt too institutional and sterile. Also they were in the middle of pricing changes and they were unable to tell us the rate that we would be paying.

June 17, 2022Thank you so much for your review- we are glad you enjoyed your tour at Parkside! During the time of your visit, we were experiencing transition in Management/Operations- our apologies if we were not able to provide rates at that time.
Parkside's tour was very thorough. They asked all the right questions. And they answered all the right questions. They were mostly on par with other places we toured and liked, other than few things here and there. And I didn’t see any issues. It just came down to personal preference for our family.

May 19, 2022Thank you so much for the nice review- I am so glad that you liked Parkside! If you wouldn't mind contacting me directly, I would like to get some feedback from you on what prompted your decision to choose another community. Thank you again!!
Parkside is a very clean place. They provide good care and were very responsive to my mother's needs. There is ample room in the residents' rooms, and the bathrooms are large. The facility is about 4 years old and pretty modern. Really the only problem I had was with billing. They kept trying to bill us at a higher price than our original contract. But the cost itself is reasonable, and the location is good.

April 28, 2022Thank you so very much for your review! We pride ourselves on quality, compassionate care for our residents. We are glad that you have chosen and trusted Parkside to care for your loved one!
I think that the staff work really hard at this community and that it is a good environment. They work really hard to make the care individual for each resident and their needs. The meals are great and the chef is very accommodating to the residents and their needs. This is a place I would put my loved one.

April 28, 2022Thank you Donna~ on behalf of myself and the staff, we all adore Frank and think he is a great addition to our Parkside family!
We went with Parkside because they came recommended to us and their pricing was considerably better than some of the other facilities we were looking into. The the location is also convenient to where I live. They encourage him to participate in the activities that they have provided. The food they serve looks to be good. My only concern really is that they have lost half of his clothing and towels but somethings show up here and there. I would recommend to others looking.
