The activities director is one of the main reasons we went with Oakmont of El Dorado Hills. She is so enthusiastic and excited and you can tell she loves her job. She rounds up all of the residents and gets them engaged in all of the activities. She is just such a bright light. The staff are very respectful to my mother and are great with communication. They are cordial and always greet you with a hello. They know all of the residents by name and are very personable. They have a good variety on the menu from what I have seen so far. I know that she is safe and well-cared for. Overall it has been a positive experience and I feel comfortable having my mother here. I do think it would be helpful if they would give new residents/families a directory of peoples names and their roles at the facility so we know who to call if we ever have any questions or concerns. But you can always ask the front desk staff and they will get you through to who you need to speak with.... Read more

I toured and I loved Oakmont! Especially the big courtyard that they have there! That would've been my first choice except for the cost. The monthly cost plus the community fee, put it way out of my budget. The staff there were also so kind. I have found that at most of these facilities the staff are really amazing people, caring and kind and compassionate.
I would not recommend Oakmont. It is such a clean, new and beautiful place. That's why people move in there, but the health department has a terrible communication problem and things have gone wrong constantly, since my loved ones moved in. I am in constant communication with the director, who is very friendly and helpful, but she had to take over some communication that was supposed to be done by the health team. The care staff is getting better, as they get to know my loved ones and what they need but I seem to have to tell them directly. I am there several days a week to make sure things are getting done. I have witnessed the maintenance team clean up sizable messes in the community and they do a great job and right away. Oakmont seems to have a turnover problem with staff. The food was good at first but not so great lately. The care team seems to be short also. I think the place would be okay if you didn't need as much care as my loved ones need.

My moms condition changed very shortly after we arrived, so it changed some circumstances for us. If you need information about the proposed charges for level of care, get that in writing up front. In my case they kept putting it off and I couldn't find anyone with that information. So, our cost for care doubled within the first month, even from a verbal estimate. They told me it would be max of [price removed]. They reassessed after 2 weeks and it was then [price removed], just for the level of care. I wasn't given any advance warning, which was inconsistent with their contract that they had me sign. So, the main thing is to know their cost up front before u agree to anything - it's all about level of care. Oakmont is a great environment if you are fairly independent and don't need increased care from their ala carte menu. It seemed to be a nice community, but my mom was on the cusp of needing more care and they weren't even showing up to give her that care. I found that concerning, especially for that price. Often times she'd be sitting in her room waiting for someone to come get her, and most times they wouldn't. She'd push her call button and they weren't showing up. For someone who needs more care it wasn't a good experience overall.

we toured Oakmont of El Dorado Hills and upon first impression it was a 3/5. we chose another community because they had better activities. we also liked the way they received my mom and our family.
Oakmont of El Dorado Hills was a bit too fancy for my mom. But that's a good thing if you like fancy!
Response from Oakmont of El Dorado Hills
December 11, 2021Hello, we appreciate you taking the time to leave us this feedback.
We toured with Oakmont of El Dorado Hills, and it was a nice place. They were not as accommodating with my loved one's situation, so we went with another facility.
They have large apartments for the residents, and a beautiful separate patio for the memory care side. They are good with schedules, they offer driving to doctors visits etc. The employees are very friendly and seem extremely caring, but right now the activities are still pretty limited.

We chose Oakmont of El Dorado because of the accessibility of the facility. When I first came in here it was not a very good experience. Since I have gotten everything straightened out, it has been a much better experience. All of the staff members have been polite and we get along well. The food is hit or miss, some days it is great, other days I cannot eat it. I do think they would benefit from doing spot checks and coming around to check in on the residents. After all is said and done, it is a pretty good facility and they made some positive changes that I recommended.

Liars and deceitful. Understaffed, mom was neglected. Thank God we moved her.

When my mom moved in she was suffering from arthritis but able to walk with a walker. Her condition worsened until she could only stand and pivot with assistance. Oakmont staff wanted to use a hoyer lift to transfer bc they were concerned about falls. Mom did not want to lose the ability to stand but finally complied. Oakmont transferred her using a lift for ~2 mo before issuing a 30-day eviction notice saying she exceeded their care abilities. They kicked her out for being reliant on a tool they asked her to use. The agreement states Oakmont provides "assistance with bathing, grooming,... ambulating, toileting and transferring." It does not say that they won’t use a lift. We asked them to reconsider. They would not. I noted COVID makes finding a new facility difficult & requested 15 add’l days to move. Oakmont refused. Their lack of empathy & flexibility was astounding. I don't want anyone to undergo the hardship, stress, & unexpected cost of moving out we had to endure.

Oakmont of El Dorado Hills is a newer community. We have been very pleased with how the staff there has handled the adjustment period for my parents moving into a senior living community from their previous residence. They have also done a great job handling the Covid-19 pandemic and ensuring the residents safety. The activities at the community are good. The price is a little high, however, and the meals have not been as good as they had originally promised. Despite this however, they do seem to be making an effort to improve.
