Learn More About Care Homes in El Dorado Hills

A high-end suburban retreat for former residents of large metro areas throughout California, El Dorado Hills is a collection of planned communities just east of Sacramento with easy access to popular outdoor destinations like Folsom Lake and El Dorado National Forest.

In El Dorado Hills, residential care homes — sometimes called care homes, board and care homes, group homes, or personal care homes — are often houses in residential neighborhoods that are adapted, equipped, and staffed to care for a small number of residents, usually 10 or less. Similar to assisted living but in a smaller, more residential setting, these homes provide supervision, organized events, and assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs). This means care homes can help with everyday routines but typically do not provide 24-hour skilled nursing assistance.

Cost of Care Homes in El Dorado Hills

The median monthly cost for a room in a care home is around $2,900 in El Dorado Hills and about $3,500 in the state of California. However, the cost of living in a care home depends largely on location. Since the homes are private residences, costs are tied to real estate value and therefore may vary greatly.

Arts, Culture, Entertainment, and Recreation

A luxurious retreat for former residents of Sacramento, the Bay Area, and Southern California, El Dorado Hills is an unincorporated suburban community just 10 miles west of Folsom, CA. It’s essentially an extension of the greater Sacramento area, but its development beginning in the early 1960s as a network of master-planned residential villages — along with its very high median household income — sets it apart from the rest of the metro region.

El Dorado Hills has recently ballooned to over 40,000 people despite only having around 6,000 residents in 1990. Today Town Center serves as a lively downtown area with shops, restaurants, bars, a movie theater, an amphitheater, and other attractions. Some exclusive neighborhoods within El Dorado Hills, such as Serrano and Empire Hills, include golf courses and country clubs. Just beyond the town’s borders, however, are several uniquely desirable perks of living in El Dorado Hills: Outdoors enthusiasts can escape to Folsom Lake to the north, or they can venture eastward to explore El Dorado National Forest, Tahoe National Forest, and Lake Tahoe.

Transportation

Public transportation is available in the El Dorado Hills area via the El Dorado County Transit Authority (El Dorado Transit), which provides fixed-route commuter services for El Dorado Hills, Placerville, Diamond Springs, Cameron Park, Pollock Pines, along with trips into Folsom and Sacramento. El Dorado Transit’s Dial-a-Ride program, specifically for seniors and residents with limited mobility, allows riders to schedule transportation directly from their preferred pickup location to their destination.
