My loved one loves it here. The family had some glitches in the beginning; however, they were resolved by the community. I feel the community works to resolve the concerns that the family has over time. New Perspective is doing well with being short staffed, like a lot of companies have nowadays. The food is average here and I believe this could be improved. There are three meals served a day and the residents have choices to choose from. The hot water in the bathroom wasn't working when my loved one moved in and it took quite a while to get this resolved. My loved one has made friends quickly, and the building is gorgeous! The apartment is fabulous for my loved one as well.... Read more

It's a beautiful facility with a warm concierge. But the facility is understaffed in all areas. They rely upon caregivers without any training after high school. Caregivers who administer medications are often rude and abrupt to the residents. It is common for medication to be missed or forgotten. And upon follow-up, the medication administrators are rude. The registered nurses are very good but appear overwhelmed.

February 27, 2023Thank you for taking the time to write a review and for your kind words about our community and concierge. We are sorry to hear that you have concerns about the staffing levels. We take the quality of care we provide to our residents very seriously, and we are committed to ensuring that our staff is properly trained and equipped to provide the highest level of care possible. In these situations, we do our best to bring in additional staff to ensure that our residents receive the care they need. We appreciate your feedback, as it helps us to identify areas where we can improve our services. We would love the opportunity to speak with you further about your concerns and to address any specific issues you may have experienced. When we toured the facility looking for an Assisted Living place to move my mother, sales staff were wonderful showing us all the spaces, going over the amenities, etc. We made the choice to move Mom here based on that. She moved in [date removed]. We had issues with meals and consistency of care, then 4 months into the stay, bed bugs were found and explained that a resident upstairs had them and Mom must have sat in a chair and brought them to her apartment. Room was treated. In May, again, found bugs, treated the room again! In July, found them again and Mom was kept in her room until it could be treated 4 days later--staff weren't notified to bring her food. Found out her new, $1,600 lift/recliner was infested. Told once it was treated we could keep it if we desired. Well, that was wrong! Bugs returned. Administrator didn't seem to care. Her apartment was not cleaned since June. We moved out two weeks ago and are very happy with Mom's new place and the care!

October 4, 2022Hi Jeanne, thank you for your feedback. We are disheartened to hear about the issues you’ve had at North Shore. We do know that upon first discovery of bed bugs, our professional exterminator services, using trained dogs, declared the building free of bugs and subsequently cleared on repeated visits. Still, we want to better understand your experience so that we can improve. Would you be open to discussing this review further offline? If so, please reach out to feedback@npseniorliving.com with your name and contact information. We look forward to hearing from you.
This community is one that should be checked out. I would recommend you come take a tour and see how you can fit into the community. The community won an award for Best Senior Living community. The staff is prompt to respond to requests made by the residents for assistance. I love the activities the community has to offer.

This is a good place to be. This is a mixed community. They have a lot of activities and things to do here. They have things like bar night and have sing a longs with popcorn and watching sports and getting to know each other. They also have a heated pool, they have a bistro, card games and karaoke night all kinds of things for the residents to do.

October 14, 2021Hi Saundra, Thank you for the positive review. We greatly appreciate your support!
Looks can be Deceiving, When my sisters told me of the place they had chosen for our mother, I googled it for myself and was very pleased with what I saw. After visiting my Mom who was in the Assisting Living at the time, I was again very pleased. After my mom health took a different turn and she was placed in Memory Care we were assured that she would be taken great care of. Our mother raised 10 children by herself, she raised us to take pride not only in how we looked, but where we lived. So we wanted nothing less than to see that she live the same way in her later years. My heart was broken into pieces when I saw the horrible way she was treated, an image I have yet to forget. I would not want an animal to live in that condition, We can only imagine how long our mother had been living in this condition, since we had not been able to visit her in her room since March. Yes we blame the staff for not taking care of her, but the staff is only as good as the faculty and leaders. So I leave you with these questions, would you have wanted your mother to live like this, and what would you do about it?

My first hand experience with New Perspective is to not send your love ones here if they're going into memory care. We put our mom here [date removed] because the building itself is beautiful but the care is horrible. On [date removed] I went into the building to see my mom for the first time since the pandemic. Upon my arrival I was met by [name removed] the nurse and she took me back to see my mom. When we got in my mom's room I was met with a smell in her room that was out of this world. Not only was I met with a smell I also seen Feces, Urine, Black and Brown stains all over her carpet and in her closet her bathroom was sickening. I became sick to my stomach from the smell and the condition of my mom's room. My mom looked so bad her hair was so matted to her head like it haven't been combed in weeks and my mom has beautiful long hair. I couldn't do nothing but cry I was so heart broking that my mom was treated like that. I took my mother home with me that day never to return her to New Perspective again. After bringing my mom home with me her depend was soaked with urine and she smelled so bad I had to put her in the tub right away. The tub water was so dirty I couldn't let her soak I had to bathe her and get her out right away. My mom feet oh my God was so black and swollen and her toe nails was so long it hurt her to put shoes on. New Perspective in my opinion needs to be shut down they are not equipped to handle Dementia/Alzheimer residents. The management staff from the Executive to the nurse needs to be fired immediately and get some people in there that cares. My husband said to me our home outside is beautiful no matter what we built it that way but the reason our home inside is also beautiful is because the care taker inside of it you take very good care of our home. He said that to say this New Perspective is beautiful on the outside but the care on the inside does not care that's why it smells when you walk back there that's why all the rooms smells and the bathroom aren't kept up that's why the residents smell so bad there's nobody taking care of the inside you can never take away from the outside because it was built that way. Please do not consider this place when or if it come time for you to put your precious love ones in a place like memory care they do not care about them only the money and my mother was paying over $6000.00 a month to be there and now she's no longer there so that saying you get what you pay for is not a true saying anymore. I found her shower head in her drawer I went into her bathroom to see if it was an extra one no it was her actual shower head the shower hole was just hanging on the floor so this explained why my mom was smelling how can you take a shower with no shower head and nobody notice it was missing WOW. This place is a joke and the management staff is one too.

This applies to about six months experience with the memory care unit. Staff was very caring and effective in maintaining a fine quality of life during the stay. Fine physical therapy and activities kept the patient active in all the important ways. Supervision of the patient's own care was very good. Safety was paramount, so thee were no concerns there.

November 14, 2018Hello, thank you for sharing your positive experience! Thanks again for the recommendation, and have an amazing day!!
New Perspectives is a nice facility. The employees are very nice. Food was above average. Hardly any activities, however. My mom became very bored. She went there for rehab on her leg. The PT dept. was excellent. But, the day to day nursing care was not very good. Lazy. Slow response to answering lights. Sometimes 45 minute waits. The room was not handicap ready. Housekeeping was not very good. I would not recommend New Perspectives for rehab. You won't find much for residents to do either.

I would not recommend New Perspective Senior Living if your senior is not able to communicate effectively. The level of unprofessionalism is far below what I would expect from a recently opened facility. When we visited the Open House, we were excited and felt as though, “this is the place to be, we were thrilled!!!” The location was perfect, the facility was beautiful, and the tour was quite impressive. Although the cost was expensive, we felt comfortable and trusted the staff to treat the senior residents with dignity and respect. Each time, since the Open House I have been met with disappointment, heart-break and shock. The lack of care and attention given to the precious, vulnerable residents is overwhelming. Yes, there are workers that are serious about their job and do their best to care for the “sometime resistant” seniors, but the disappointing visits outweigh the good. Each visit has been met with questions: are there cameras in the open areas, is anyone supervising the workers, does anyone supervise the 2nd and 3rd shift workers, were the employees trained in sensitivity/compassion for the elderly and what is the turnover ratio? Upon each visit, I have witnessed something disturbing. During one visit, I witnessed a worker slamming a wheelchair-bound woman’s foot on the foot lever. During that same visit, my family members room smelled like strong urine and a worker was on her phone, not interacting or sitting among the residents. Also, the after hour security needs to be re-examined. I did not have time to voice a complaint as I had another appointment.

August 28, 2018Thank you for sharing your experience. Obviously, the resident care you describe is not representative of the high standards we set for ourselves. We would like to continue the conversation offline so that we can better understand what you experienced so that we can adjust our coaching and training to provide the quality of care our seniors deserve. Please reach out to the community's Executive Director or IM us with your contact information so that we can follow up with you.
The process of sifting and sorting all the information from various alternative options for independent and/or assisted living can be complex, difficult to understand, and often traumatic for those whose placement is directly involved. [name removed] at New Perspective was terrific. She was patient, informative, always looking for solutions to problem areas as they were discussed. The result was a very high level of comfort for my 80 year old sister in making these important decisions. A great start to what we hope will be a long-term relationship.

June 14, 2018Hi Mike, we're happy you found our staff to be so supportive during your experience here at New Perspective Senior Living | North Shore. Please don't hesitate to reach out if there's anything additional we can do for you.
My dad is currently here and he is now in hospice. From the beginning we were treated with care and concern. It was our first experience with placing a loved one in specialty care and new perspectives north shore was a good decision. The caregivers are very sensitive to my dads needs. Hospice Care added extra care and I feel good about his placement. They really had a great plan and great expectations but God had other plans. What I liked about the staff they know I am not a medical profession but they still considered my opinion. It helped because they always offered hope even in the face of the inevitable. I don’t think any family could go wrong placing their loved one here at New Perspectives Morth Shore!

NEW PERSPECTIVE Senior Living in Brown Deer, Wis. I can't rave enough about our amazing experience with them! [name removed] the Dirctor of Sales was so instrumental in helping us send our beloved mother into their Memory Care area from home were we personally cared for her the last 8 years. [name removed] is so easy to talk to & very accessible. [name removed], the nurse who came to do the in-home assessment literally came in with open arms, she put mom at ease immediately. She was kind & loving to mom as she assessed how they can care best for her at NP. It's not easy to let your loved one go from you, but we can trust they will give her the very best she needs as her Alzheimer's and Dementia progress.

I checked out many places for seniors sixty plus years to live before I discovered New Perspective. It is such a beautiful facility, less than two years old near shopping areas and within walking distance. New Perspective has lovely living quarters for most senior needs such as cleaning services, exercise, swimming, meal services etc. Some rooms are furnished with kitchen and washing appliances at no extra charge. I especially enjoy the no cost special trips to shop and go to doctor appointments and the no cost entertainment brought in to keep us from becoming bored throughout the day and evening hours. I urge anyone who is seeking senior living quarters to check out New Perspective. Dr. Theadoll Taylor, Ed.D.

I love the people at North Shore. My favorite activity to attend is the live music and I love to dance with the other residents. I like being able to step out of my apartment and have people to talk too. [name removed] from Fox Therapy listened to me when I told him I was dizzy and he has worked with me and I have not had any more dizziness. [name removed] also helped me in deciding to have a surgery that will allow me to walk better again. I would recommend anyone come visit and consider living at North Shore.

I think the best thing about New Perspective is the friendliness of the staff which promotes a relaxed and friendly resident population. I was very impressed with the care that Jennifer showed me in showing the various apartments that would meet my needs. That level of care and service has not gone down

March 1, 2018Mike, thank you for your kind words and this wonderful review! We always strive to provide top quality service to every resident, and are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your experience here at New Perspective Senior Living | North Shore!
I toured the New Perspective Senior Living. The lady showed me around the property and showed me the room that my loved one would have if he was to move there. It was a very nice, gorgeous community. They never called us back, we tried calling them several times. It ended up okay because ended up needing a facility that would be able to take a couple and we found the perfect fit.
