Would not recommend to other people because many improvements need to be made.
My opinion is MANY things need to be addressed and changed. If "staff" lived here and ate here things would change very quickly. At the moment I would not recommend the Morada Deer Park community to other families

Meal servings are not always regular (same) portion size. May have a tablespoon of food one time and regular size next. Fresh fruits and coffee not available very often. Floors and carpet need cleaning more often Backup generator(s) needed for elevators when they don't work or when power is out. People upstairs who can't walk are stuck upstairs (or downstairs if malfunction happens while they are downstairs. Maintenance is usually addressed in fair time. Marty is good with maintenance issues.

The staff and Directors at Morada Deer Park are helpful, especially at the welcome desk. Housekeeping is once a week and the ladies are very pleasant and are efficient. Activities are on every day schedules, along with a weekly menu. The meals are served in the dining room three times a day. There is a choice of early or later service. Meals may be "take out" in the dining room or even delivered, for a charge. The servers are very good here, they know everyone's names. They are efficient and polite. The menus always have two main choices and alternates. Dessert is available at lunch and dinner. Everyone wears an ALERT button around their neck. If help is needed, just push the button. If someone goes outside, their room number is announced to management. I would recommend Morada Deer Park to others.

This is an independent living facility and not appropriate for people who need full-time care. That being said, there is care that you can hire in quarter hour increments if necessary, and they have been extremely helpful.

Morada Deer Park a great place to live
Morada Deer Park would be my place to live. As you enter the community there is warm atmosphere of caring. From the time you enter the community to the end of your tour the staff members are very welcoming. They provide transportation for residents on Tuesdays and Thursdays. who have doctors appointments. Wednesdays they will take the residents to Walmart. Who doesn’t like to go to Walmart. Lol. They also have what they call “ Lunch Bunch to area restaurants. They will take you shopping and to the movie theaters. Morada Deer Park has a lot to offer. They also have a happy hour, exercise, kickball , axe throwing, painting, arts & crafts, cooking, beach and a crazy game they play called goofball. Which seems pretty funny to watch. Of course just like every other community. They have BINGO which we know everyone enjoys to play. They also have a gardening club for those who miss gardening at their homes. Morada Deer Park understands the “Transitioning Phase” for your loved one.

Disappointed - not what I expected
As of right now, I would not recommend Morada Deer Park to others. The food and activities are not at all what I was expecting. I would rate the food as low as it can go and the activities are a laughing matter. I have a large 1 bedroom apartment and it is perfect size wise. The employees here do try their hardest. If I could get out of here I would right now.

A Hidden Gem
Morada Deer Park is a hidden gem. I never expected to find this place in this little area. You take that left, and you'll turn into this hidden gem; it's perfect. My husband kids that we've found the place we'll move into when we're ready. The waiters come over and introduce themselves and they talk to the residents. They recognize my mom and what she wants to eat and drink. The activities director greets her by name. I know all the staff on a first name basis and vice versa. They're very efficient, very courteous, and professional. [name removed] is the best, he runs around fixing windows, doors, and so forth. When I walked in I said excuse me sir, can you fix this and that. Before 24 hours had passed it was done. We had a sticky note on my moms front door and I saw him walking down the hall, I stopped him and he said he'd add it to his list. My mom came back and the door was done. I was really impressed. The reason I was so impressed is because I don't live in the middle of Clear Lake, I don't have a million dollar house. I was afraid we wouldnt be able to find something in this area. So when we found it, we both instantly fell in love. They're friendly and personable, the community looks clean. It looks almost brand new after Harvey - they've really spruced it up. My mom's name is [name removed]; [name removed] the activities director walked by and recognized her last name. She stopped and asked her if she played Mexican bingo, my mom said yes. So she said, "I'm thinking about adding that. If I do, will you play?" I thought it was so cute and thoughtful that she was wanting to add activities that represent my moms culture. She also mentioned that there will be a florist coming in and that she told [name removed] about her. [name removed] is a resident, who of my mom having a different cultural background and wanting to make her feel comfortable in the most respectful way. That was nice! +

We had a good tour at Morada Deer Park. The staff was great - they were friendly. But the unit was a little bit smaller than my loved one wanted, and the price was also out of his range.

This place has given me so much comfort and assurance since my sister in law moved in
My name is [name removed] and I loved this place the minute I walked in, it is spotlessly clean, the place is gorgeous, inside and out the grounds are kept so neat and tidy. The apartments are so nice, the Handy man [name removed] is absolutely Fabulous. Everybody you meet whether it be residents or staff they are all so nice and welcoming. The Price is affordable and the amenities they offer is top notch. I know my sister in law is in a safe, clean environment and it helps me to sleep at night knowing she is so well cared for. They offer 3 meals a day, they even clean your apartment once a week and wash your sheets. Everything is so well thought out and conveniently located. They even offer the convenience of providing a bus to go shopping, I was absolutely blown away with this place and it gives me a lot of peace knowing it exists because lets face it I’m not getting any younger either, so I know where I want to go heck It’s like being on a permanent vacation.

Highly Recommend - It's a Wonderful Senior Living Community
They're very caring. The staff really cares about everybody. They make it very comfortable for the residents. It's secure. Overall I've been pleased with everything. A while back there was an ownership change - it used to be the Waterford. Most of the staff stayed the same, but they got a new chef and kitchen staff. My loved one has not been as happy with the the food since then. Options have been more limited. But they have loads of activities, which is just awesome. They have outings, and they do provide a lot of diverse things. Overall, she really does love the place. She's been very happy there.

A Place for Mom has scored Morada Deer Park 8.2 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.

Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
